Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 835: Prosperous Rising Sun

Chapter 835: Prosperous Rising Sun

Time passed by like a calm stream, and soon, and just like that, another 500 years passed, making it the 1000th year since Cedric became the Rising Sun Sector Domain’s Sector Lord.

Cedric hasn’t aged a day since arriving here; not a single wrinkle or strand of white hair has appeared on his features. He looked just as dashing as he did a thousand years ago.

The years that passed were silent and peaceful, just the way Cedric preferred it.

By now, the Rising Sun Domain was prospering. It had become exactly the way Cedric envisioned it all those years ago. The best part? He doesn’t even need to micro-manage it anymore. Everything functions the way it’s designed to, making Cedric’s actual work as a sector lord very minimal.

Now, he’s only needed for major decisions, ones that concern the sector domain as a whole. As for the little things, he could delegate them to his council.

Although the name of the Rising Sun Domain hasn’t spread everywhere, that’s because it’s on purpose. Cedric and his council don’t care for fame or attention. They prefer to show what makes them special instead of screaming it for all to hear.

Is it truth, though? The Rising Sun Domain could easily rank within the top 10, if not top 5, of sector domains in terms of prosperity if they had been loud.

The quality of life of those who lived here was much higher compared to most sector domains out there.

Here, starving was a myth—a choice, even. So long as one has skills and willingness, earning a place to work and earn a living is very easy. The sector domain never lacked jobs ranging from the most mundane to the most complicated. Moreover, it certainly does not lack money, food, and resources to use as compensation for those who are looking for honest work.

Of course, the main thing was Life Evolution still. Strength comes first; after all, that’s the fundamental truth of the Primitive Universe.

Suffice it to say, the Rising Sun Domain doesn’t lack that either. In fact, it might even count as one of the liveliest places for Life Evolvers.

The sects and organizations that had taken root here weren’t the world-renowned ones or the truly ancient and secretive ones. Most of them were young upstarts who gained permission from Cedric himself.

But that doesn’t mean that they can’t compete. With Cedric’s support and aid, that wouldn’t be possible.

He provided them with places and tools to prosper. He encouraged friendly competitions and rivalries. He supported their goals so long as it didn’t touch the bottom line he set for them.

Sure, most of the sects and organizations within the Rising Sun Sector Domain were young, and that’s fine. Cedric wasn’t expecting them to compete with the old sects just yet, but that doesn’t mean that they should lack fighting spirit and couldn’t produce results because he had been generous with them.

And in terms of security? Top 5, easily. No questions there.

Safety was something Cedric emphasized even in the early days of his territory’s development.

The Rising Sun Sector Domain is protected with multiple layers of defenses and traps. Some were obvious; the majority were hidden.

Of course, there had never been any lack of people who wanted to try their luck. Cedric never discouraged them; everybody who tried paid a steep price anyway, the cheapest being their lives.

Thousands have tried to infiltrate/trespass his territory. The majority of them died; only a few lived to tell the tale, and that’s only because they accidentally did it.

Nobody dared to complain directly to his face, especially those who are connected to those who died. Nobody’s stupid enough to do that. It wasn’t him who told them not to use the main entrance, after all.

Of course, there had been spies who tried blending in. This was natural; everybody’s bound to be curious, after all. But even they were filtered.

Cedric could name every single spy that walked into his territory, both dead and alive. He didn’t kill all of them, only those who were sent by malicious parties who want to take advantage of or take over his territory from within.

These spies were immediately flagged, subdued, controlled, and later, killed once they were discovered. Cedric’s personnel wouldn’t show any mercy to those who threaten the peace and safety of their home. Instead of them subduing Cedric and his people, it goes the other way around.

The smaller organizations that dared were wiped out overnight. The bigger ones were warned severely, often through parcels containing the dead bodies of their subordinates.

They’re lucky that Cedric himself hasn’t personally stepped in; otherwise, they wouldn’t even know how they died.

As for the other spies that still walked on his lands, they’re only kept alive because their intentions were somewhat clear. If it’s just intelligence they want, they can have it. Cedric doesn’t mind. Of course, the ones they get are the ones that Cedric wants them to have. Core information was strictly locked away and monitored. There’s no way he’d let them take those away.

It doesn’t matter how skilled they are. If they’re within Cedric’s territory, they will move according to his wishes, with or without their consent.

It’s because of this that the Rising Sun Domain was able to develop steadily over the past hundreds of years. Sure, nobody knows just how truly strong they were, but that’s on purpose.

The ranking doesn’t matter. It’s not like the Human Council rewards those who made it into the ranking. It’s just there for the sake of competition, a way to control and influence the masses.

And even if there were to be rewards, Cedric might not be moved. It’s not like they could give him anything he doesn’t already have. That’s why she doesn’t care much about it.

**

There’s another reason why today, or rather, this year, was special.

It’s not just because it’s been the 1000th year since he became the Sector Lord. It’s also because the Heavenly Star’s Millennial Tournament was once again taking place.

Currently, Cedric wasn’t in his office, nor was he in seclusion.

Today, he was at a pocket dimension, one he created for a special reason. He wasn’t alone here. There were about hundreds of people here with him; some were old and were his staff, and the minority were youth with burning conviction, fighting spirit, and desire to prove something.

These young people are the participants that will join the upcoming tournament.

Yes, the Rising Sun Sector Domain will join. They’re not forced to, but they kind of have to for appearances’ sake.

While participation was voluntary, for a sector domain and a sector lord like himself, it’s kind of mandatory. It’s for the sake of socializing and staying connected to the Human Council and a way of indicating peaceful relations with their neighbors.

Of course, it meant something else for these kids.

To them, this is ’THE’ trial by fire. The one that would confirm their place as elites of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm, proof that they’re not worse than others.

It’s not just about life evolution achievements anymore; it’s something more, personal, even.

And Cedric knows this. Although he doesn’t share their passion, he could understand what they felt, and what kind of a Sector Lord would he be if he didn’t respond?

That’s why he built this pocket dimension.

There had been an inner screening within the Rising Sun Domain—a tournament of some sort to discover who truly are the elites of this sector domain. Cedric watched and handpicked talents; he didn’t just choose the finalists, he included those whom he thought were worth the investment too.

He designed a trial for them, one that not only tested their talents, skill, and determination, but also their intent and will.

All of that happened here in this pocket dimension, and the results were more than satisfying, with a few surprises here and there.

Of course, while the majority held on or exceeded the expectations placed upon them, it’s unavoidable that some would collapse and be proven lacking. Cedric didn’t dwell on them too much; that’s just the way it is.

One thing to note is that nobody here came from his bloodline. Not because they’re weak but because they’re not ready yet.

That said, for the first batch of competitors his territory produced, these people weren’t bad at all.

In the end, he had this to say to them:

“You’ve done well so far. As your Sector Lord, I am proud to see how far you’ve come.”

“Now, whether you can say the same for yourselves or demand more is completely up to you.”

“Just know that to me, this tournament is only for the sake of showing respect to the tradition. I’m not forcing any of you to stake your lives just to get some optimal results. I’d much rather see you return alive from that tournament instead of you securing a higher ranking at the cost of your own lives.”

“Go out there, expand your horizons, and have fun. And most importantly, come back alive. That’s all I ask.”
