Chapter 2426 - Creating a New Path
Chapter 2426 – Creating a New Path
Su Yi’s shattered body and soul entered a wondrous and strange state of destruction. He was neither alive nor dead, neither obliterated nor fully there.
But his awareness remained, and his mind was crystal clear. He sensed everything happening around him with perfect acuity.
The Tribulation of the Five Witherings had receded, but it hadn’t truly left.
The Well of Turbulent Daos had fled further away, but it hadn’t truly left either. Rather, it was eyeing the situation hungrily.
The Outsider Celestial Demon army scampered off in panic, like dogs without their masters, but their leaders remained calm. They’d left the area affected by the tribulation, but they fled no further. They were obviously waiting for an opportunity to make a counterattack.
Over on the walls of Dao-Seeking City, Luo Yao and the others’ expressions shifted. It was hard to tell whether they were happy or not.
This was, perhaps, because too many variables had arisen too quickly, and they couldn’t quite keep up with it all.
After taking all of this in, Su Yi turned his attention away from his surroundings. It was time to prove his Dao!
The bundle of light enveloping him didn’t just contain his fragmented body and soul. It contained the Epoch Spark, the rusted sheath, the Sword of the Nine Hells, and his other treasures.
As well as his Laws of the Grand Dao!
Kaboom!
Tribulation light came crashing down from the heavens. Its power was far stranger, far more calamitous, and far more taboo than the tribulations he’d face in past breakthroughs.
Because this was his Undying Realm Grand Tribulation. Over the years, Undying Realm Grand Tribulations had snuffed out countless would-be Master Gods.
And Su Yi was different from other people. The tribulations accompanying his breakthroughs had always been unlike anyone else’s.
In the face of the descending tribulation, Su Yi made no attempt to dodge. He just hovered there and faced it head-on.
The Sword of the Nine Hells clanged, and inscrutable sword force shot forth, crushing the waterfall of calamitous light as if it were made of rotten wood.
When the tribulation light collapsed, it transformed into source power of the Grand Dao and flowed into the bundle of light encompassing Su Yi, pouring into his shattered flesh and soul. His cultivation base then underwent a startling transformation.
Kaboom!
The tribulation clouds churned, shaking everything on all sides.
The entire area was shrouded in endless darkness akin to an eternal night. Only the searing, resplendent tribulation remained, especially jarring against the otherwise complete darkness.
But no matter how relentlessly it attacked him, the bundle of light around Su Yi seemed unbreakable, eternal, and unmovable.
The waves of tribulation light scattered, like waves breaking against the shore.
Within the bundle of light, Su Yi’s body and flesh absorbed the vitality within the tribulation light like mad.
The first thunderstorms of spring were followed by an explosion of new life. Lightning gave rise to both destruction and to new life.
Su Yi had been in between life and death, but now, he seemed to rise from the ashes, like a phoenix undergoing rebirth amidst the flame. He was in the middle of a startling transformation.
It was as if he’d received a new life, or as if he were being reborn! He was transforming and evolving amidst destruction!
The Epoch Spark swayed, and a rain of chaos light flowed around it. It too was undergoing a wondrous transformation.
As Su Yi’s roots in the Grand Dao, the Epoch Spark’s transformations rapidly transformed his powers of the Grand Dao in turn. An Undying charm was quietly rising within them.
Within the rusted sword sheath, the heart demon could sense everything that was happening too.
So, that sword is now really and truly his… sighed the heart devil.
The Sword of the Nine Hells had originally belonged to him! It contained enormous mysteries and secrets, as well as the Dao Fruits of his past lives!
Prior to this, the heart devil had tried to summon the Sword of the Nine Hells, but every such attempt ended in failure.
He found it immensely frustrating. Ultimately, he was the first incarnation’s heart devil, while Su Yi and his first incarnation were one and the same!
The heart devil understood that full well. Naturally, he understood why the Sword of the Nine Hells belonged to Su Yi and Su Yi alone!
He fused the Epoch Spark into his body, and he uses the Dao of the Sword to manifest all other Daos. He’s truly blazing a new path unlike any other. He really is my reincarnation!
After nine trips through the cycle of reincarnation, I finally see a bit of hope. At this rate, one day breaking through Eternity and the fetters of the River of Destiny won’t be at all difficult for him…
It’s just that his Undying Realm cultivation base… can’t really be called that anymore, can it? It’s nothing like that of other Undying Realm cultivators. What Dao-Refining Tribulations? What ‘fusing nine tribulations into one?’ He’s risen above all that!
Perhaps… he’ll have to define his new cultivation base for himself. No one else can! If so, he’s created a new path!
Still, it remains to be seen which is superior: the path he insisted on walking, or the path of balance I insisted on pursuing!
Su Yi’s first incarnation’s heart devil had a lot on his mind.
Back then, Su Yi’s first incarnation reached the pinnacle of the Grand Dao within the epochs of creation, and he reached the far end of Eternity!
There’d been no others before him, and there were no others after him. He stood at the far end of Eternity alone!
But it was there that his cultivation… reached the limit of what he could achieve in that lifetime.
It was also then that, in a mysterious and taboo place, he saw evidence of a path that had never existed in any epoch!
But… it was too fleeting and too ethereal. There weren’t even legends about it, let alone leads.
Still, his first incarnation had been certain that it existed.
One of his close friends, a ruling expert who’d mastered the power of reincarnation, believed similarly.
But this belief meant facing a difficult choice, one so difficult that Su Yi’s first incarnation had almost lost himself to confusion and indecision.
In the end, he made up his mind, swinging the sword of the heart to sever his heart devil and cleave through his doubts. He’d chosen to seek further breakthroughs in the cycle of reincarnation.
It was also then that he sealed the heart devil he’d severed within the rusted sword sheath.
This was what led to the heart devil completely opposed to Su Yi’s first incarnation: an obsessive desire to break past Eternity and strive for greater heights with the secrets of balance!
Strictly speaking, Su Yi’s first incarnation’s heart devil really represented his first incarnation’s alternative path, the one he’d chosen not to walk. The heart devil was born of his first incarnation’s obsession!
Within the rusted sheath, the heart devil was thinking through everything weighing on his mind.
And in the outside world, Su Yi had already reached a critical juncture of his breakthrough.
The bundle of light churned. Su Yi’s fragmented flesh and soul were rapidly reconstructing themselves, and the ethereal outline of a figure was now visible within the light.
Beneath the dome of heaven, the inky tribulation clouds were increasingly terrifying. Countless tribulation lights danced about like flurries of snow.
In that moment, even Luo Yao and the others’ hearts quivered. They felt suffocated and helpless.
It was just too terrifying!
This was an Undying Realm Grand Tribulation, yet it was even mightier than the Tribulation of the Five Witherings. Who’d have dared to imagine such a thing?
Off in the distance, Demon Emperor Chi Nie and the others gazed intently at that bundle of light, their expressions incomparably ashen.
How terrifying was that tribulation? Yet it had somehow failed to kill Su Yi. This was entirely unexpected .
Even more absurd, Su Yi was transforming beneath his tribulation!
They couldn’t see what was happening within the light clearly, but there was no way they’d fail to realize that if Su Yi overcame his tribulation, he’d be like a phoenix reborn from the ashes!
He’d enter the Undying Realm and become a true Master God!
Even as a mere Greater God, he’d already been so heaven-defyingly strong. How strong would he become upon entering the Undying Realm?
The very thought of it was enough to make their scalps go numb with fright.
What do we do? Don’t tell me we’re just supposed to stand back and watch this happen?
For a moment, Demon Emperor Chi Nie and the others’ hearts raced, but things had developed in such a way that it seemed there was nothing they could do. They felt utterly helpless.
Su Yi’s three conditions had thrown their plans into chaos, and they’d already sacrificed eight Demon Emperors.
It hadn’t been easy to get Demon Emperor Lie Yun into battle. They’d been just about to capture Su Yi and destroy his Dao Heart when the Tribulation of the Five Witherings showed up!
The arrival of the Well of Turbulent Daos should have been enough to contend with it, only for Su Yi to invite his Undying Realm Grand Tribulation. It actually sent both the Tribulation of the Five Witherings and the Well of Turbulent Daos packing!
Even the soldiers of the Outsider Celestial Demon army had fled for their lives. Their ranks were in complete chaos
The thought of it left the Demon Emperors feeling so stifled that they almost coughed up blood. They gnashed their teeth so hard they almost shattered.
“Control the captives’ minds. Have them attack Su Yi! Hurry!”
Suddenly, that abstruse, ethereal voice rang out.
Demon Emperor Chi Nie and the others’ hearts shook. They suddenly realized that the Well of Turbulent Daos was hovering not far from them, and that that voice had emanated from within it.
“That will be enough to destroy his Dao Heart and disrupt his tribulation! Even if we cannot stop him, the captives’ deaths will deal his heart a massive blow, leaving a lasting shadow on his conscience!” urged the voice within the well.
“Then, Old Man Heart Demon can take hold of that guilty conscience and destroy his heart!”
Demon Emperor Chi Nie and the others had a sudden revelation. That’s right! We still have those captives!
Demon Emperor Chi Nie then personally took action, using a secret art.
The eleven dangling captives awakened from their stupor, one by one, and broke free of their torture racks. Then, all of them fixed their gazes on Su Yi, who was undergoing tribulation above them. Murderous intent exploded in the depths of their wooden gazes, as if they’d just laid eyes on their most hated enemy!
“This is bad!” Luo Yao was the first to notice this, and she couldn’t help but look stricken.
Su Yi had chosen to undergo tribulation and break through while the captives hovered there. He’d done this so as to defend them and make sure the tribulation didn’t reach them.
But now, it seemed obvious that the captives were under control. They were trying to kill Su Yi!
Who wouldn’t have been startled? After all, Su Yi had reached a critical juncture of his breakthrough! If the captives attacked from all sides, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Either Su Yi failed his tribulation and perished, or the tribulation struck all of the captives dead!
None of them wanted to see that. After all, the captives were their brothers in arms, their fellow Daoists they’d once fought side-by-side with!
