First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2432 - A Sword of Reincarnation, the Twilight of the Gods

Chapter 2432 – A Sword of Reincarnation, the Twilight of the Gods

The enormous army blanketed heaven and earth. Their lineup was indeed far too terrifying.

Su Yi narrowed his eyes and charged, leading his allies into the fray without a word.

Kaboom!

Heaven and earth were thrown into chaos. The battle raged with renewed intensity.

Su Yi and company had yet to even kill their way through the army of ancient variant beasts when Demon Emperor Lie Yun led his army and attacked.

Their forces were boundlessly vast, and they swept in like a raging tidal wave.

Standing amidst it all, anyone would have felt like a single duckweed floating in turbulent seas, utterly paltry and utterly insignificant.

The pressure on Su Yi and his allies increased, and their offensive was suppressed.

Their enemies’ numbers were just too enormous!

No matter how capable they were, or how many they killed, it was as if they’d sunk into a swamp. Their enemies used sheer force of numbers to keep them firmly in place and surround them relentlessly.

When each group of enemies fell, a new group rushed in to take its place. There was no end to them.

Luo Yao and the others’ hearts sank. If this stalemate continued, they could forget about breaking free; they’d be trapped and ultimately killed!

“As I said, you cannot escape!” Lie Yun bellowed in the distance, his eyes cold, the very picture of a ruler presiding over a vast army.

Clang!

The boundless hum of a sword rang out, and darkness descended over the landscape as a World of Samsara appeared out of nowhere.

The Sea of Bitterness rose and fell, vast beyond limit.

Flowers of the Far Shore bloomed, scattering a rain of fiery light.

Lost souls sighed over the Platform of Rebirth amidst the cycle of life and death.

Now that Su Yi used his Undying Power to display the power of reincarnation, the World of Samsara displayed starkly different strange phenomena, and far greater power.

The Naihe Bridge traversed the heavens, the River of Forgetfulness coursing beneath it.

The Ten Yama Kings presided over their respective territories, each like an emperor in his own right, and each presiding over a different punishment for those in the cycle of reincarnation.

The Yellow Springs and Meng Po’s Palace stood beside the Ghost’s Gate.

Within the endless darkness of the cycle of reincarnation and the powers of the Six Paths, there manifested a dusky, apocalyptic light.

That was the most mysterious of all, the Light of the End!

This was a complete, mysterious domain of the power of reincarnation. It truly seemed to have descended into his world, replacing the entire landscape and enveloping everyone and everything in it.

“Hm?” Demon Emperor Lie Yun’s pupils constricted. He could sense an impending lethal threat.

Kaboom!

Before he could respond, the cycle of reincarnation took to the skies. A group of Undying Divine Corpses perished immediately, the waters of the Yellow Springs corroding their bodies and plunging them into the River of Forgetfulness. The vengeful souls of the Naihe Bridge ripped them to shreds, and they passed beyond the Ghost’s Gate…

Before the Bureaus of the Six Paths could adjudicate them, they broke, unable to take it anymore. All were instantly reduced to ash.

It was just one strike, but it was as if a domain had descended over the entire stretch of sky. The thousands of strange lifeforms within it all perished!

And as the power of reincarnation spread, it dealt unimaginable damage.

The strange lifeforms were manifested from those who’d died fighting in the Boundless Battlefield, then been transformed into semi-sentient monsters by the Outsider Celestial Demons. They included Undying Divine Corpses, skeletons, and vengeful souls.

And the power of reincarnation was a natural counter against creatures like them. Even those Undying Divine Corpses strong enough to threaten Nine-Tribulation Master Gods were helpless in the face of reincarnation!

Kaboom!

The Sea of Bitterness was beyond limit, its turbid waves churning with the power of oblivion. It enveloped an entire area, drowning all strange lifeforms within it and dragging them into its depths, where they vanished completely.

The Cycle of the Six Paths revolved, emanating the power of adjudication, which executed every strange lifeform that attempted to flee.

Even the Deathless Body Demons suffered a terrifying impact, and they too were plunged into the Cycle of Reincarnation.

They proclaimed themselves deathless, as they could come back to life so long as a single drop of blood remained. However, as incomparably terrifying as they were, their bodies were torn to ribbons in the Cycle of Reincarnation, their blood and qi ground to nothingness. Their souls sank into oblivion, ended completely.

Just like that, they were dead! They could in no way withstand the power of reincarnation!

So what if they were “Deathless” or “Undying?” In the face of reincarnation, all things met their end!

This was what made reincarnation truly taboo: the cycle of death and rebirth, and the capacity to end all things.

Demon Emperor Lie Yun felt the impact, too.

He dodged immediately, attacking with all his might in a bid to break free. He wanted to fight his way out of this World of Samsara.

But it was then that the illusory Ten Yama Kings displayed their power. They joined forces, supporting the World of Samsara to suppress all enemies on all sides.

It was just one attack, but it broke through Demon Emperor Lie Yun’s attempts to struggle, badly damaging his Deathless body!

But it was then that the power of Su Yi’s strike ran out and dissipated in midair, saving Demon Emperor Lie Yun from disaster.

From a distance, it was obvious that his army of hundreds of thousands had suffered countless casualties. The strange lifeforms in particular had been all but obliterated.

The Deathless Body Demons hadn’t gotten off lightly, either.

Those fortunate enough not to have faced the impact were nonetheless terrified. One after another, they shrieked and scampered off in panic.

The entire army was in chaos!

Luo Yao, Wen Qingfeng, and the others’ eyes widened. Their hearts shook.

If they hadn’t seen it for themselves, they could never have imagined how a single strike could be so unbelievably terrifying!

That’s right. It was just one attack.

One sword strike had manifested reincarnation, enveloped heaven and earth, broken the vast army’s ranks, cleaved a powerful foe, and swept through everything on all sides!

Even someone as powerful as Demon Emperor Lie Yun was badly injured!

When Su Yi saw this, he couldn’t help but feel a bit rueful. Now that I’ve stepped into the Undying Realm, my grasp of reincarnation is finally starting to display some of its true power.

The difference between what I could access before is stark, as far removed as heaven and earth!

Only now did Su Yi finally understand on a visceral level how terrifying the complete powers of reincarnation were!

It was no wonder that the gods and Buddhas feared it, and no wonder all bygone epochs had been ruled by its power.

It… was indeed far too unbelievable!

Only Su Yi himself knew that the power of reincarnation in his strike was merely a rough outline. The true power of reincarnation could encompass all words, as well as the past, present, and future!

“Die!” Without delay or hesitation, Su Yi gripped his sword and charged. .

Luo Yao and the others forcefully suppressed their astonishment and excitement, then followed Su Yi into battle.

Boom!

Sword qi flew across the battlefield, and the power of reincarnation swept through the sky with unstoppable force.

It was even easier than before.

Demon Emperor Lie Yun’s vast army was already in chaos, its forces rapidly breaking ranks and fleeing. They couldn’t defend themselves at all!

“How is this possible… He only just barely stepped into the Undying Realm. Why does he seem like an entirely different person?” Demon Emperor Lie Yun was startled and furious. He found this hard to believe.

His enormous army had collapsed in barely any time at all. How could he possibly have accepted this?

Boom!

An arc of divine light bore through the sky, shooting toward Demon Emperor Lie Yun.

Demon Emperor Lie Yun swung his white bone spear, shattering the arc of divine light. He turned to flee.

The situation was outside of his expectations, and he realized that this attempt at encirclement had ended in abject failure. He had no desire to throw his life away, too.

But it was then that sword qi with dusky luster entered his field of view.

When he saw it, Demon Emperor Lie Yun’s pupils constricted. That dusky luster was grand and tragic, and it brought with it an air of eternal oblivion.

Its aura alone plunged his heart and mind into endless helplessness and despair.

This… But before Demon Emperor Lie Yun could give the matter any further thought, he was flabbergasted to discover that his field of vision had shifted. He could now see his own body.

Except that his head was missing…

So, the moment I saw that dusky, radiant sword qi, I’d already been decapitated…

A moment later, all awareness fled him. His head and body were ripped to shreds, which crumbled and vanished completely.

Not even ashes remained!

Luo Yao and the others saw it all. Without exception, their hearts and bodies shook. They were increasingly aware of how terrifying the power of reincarnation was.

“The End comes, the twilight of the gods!” Su Yi said calmly.

He could never have unleashed that attack prior to reaching the Undying Realm, as it had contained the true core mystery of reincarnation: the End!

The Laws of the End could end all Daos, all living creations, and all worldly phenomena!

Even those that called themselves deathless or undying would be terminated, erased from this world completely!

These mysteries were taboo and unparalleled. It was only possible to display their power upon reaching the Undying Realm.

Because it was only possible to End the Undying after grasping the meaning of the term “Undying”!

That aside, this attack was enormously draining to his cultivation base. In just one strike, SU Yi had expended about thirty percent of his power!

By now, the army before them had scattered, its experts scampering off in panic.

Indeed, when a tree fell, the monkeys scattered.

Luo Yao and the others seized the opportunity to gather an abundance of treasures. Undying Source Power lay strewn all over the place, flashing with multicolored and resplendent Undying light.

The army of strange lifeforms had left them behind.

They were incomparable strokes of good fortune in the eyes of even Master Gods. Ordinarily, one would have to brave great danger to have any hope of finding such treasures, yet now, they were lying all over the ground!

That wasn’t all, either. There were other Undying Materials, Undying Divine Crystals, and other treasures…

Luo Yao and the others naturally wouldn’t miss out.

In the Boundless Battlefield, spiritual energy was incomparably sparse. Whether you wanted to cultivate or treat your wounds, you needed to rely on treasures and resources like these.

It wasn’t long before they’d finished scouring the battlefield.

Su Yi then led the group ahead, straight toward the Thousand Deaths Mountains. They encountered no further delays.

Although a group of ancient variant species chased them, it was too late; they’d struggle to catch up now.

“Time is short. Pick up the pace!” urged Su Yi.

As he shifted through the air, he used Undying Source Power to replenish his expended energy.

Luo Yao and the others could keenly sense that even after breaking through their enemies’ perilous encirclement, Su Yi didn’t relax a bit. On the contrary, his expression was far grimmer than before!

Wen Qingfeng instantly guessed the reason, and his expression shifted. “Brother Fuyou, are you worried about the progenitors of the Outsider Celestial Demon Army?”

“That’s right. Ol’ Heart Demon, Huan Yan, and Huang Qi have yet to reveal themselves,” Su Yi said at top speed. “Them aside, the Well of Ancient Chaos is an enormous threat, too.”

The group’s excitement faded as they realized the severity of the problem.

Su Yi was right. They had indeed fought their way through the enemy’s encirclement, but the most terrifying of them all, the progenitor, had yet to make an appearance.

They unquestionably presented the most fearsome threat.

What Su Yi didn’t say was that he wasn’t just concerned about these known threats. On the contrary, he was more concerned about threats yet to rise to the surface.

But no matter what, before they did anything else, they had to reach Thousand Deaths Mountain as soon as possible.

It was only by destroying their enemies’ attempts to surround and trap them that they could escape their passive state and launch an active offensive!

If they couldn’t, they’d be trapped and intercepted forever, unable to do anything but flee continuously for their lives.

The consequences of that would be absolutely unimaginable!

The group flew with all its might.

About fifteen minutes later, the indistinct, ethereal sound of flute music echoed throughout heaven and earth.
