Chapter 1663 Wink
Chapter 1663 Wink
Sylas didn’t reply immediately.
He did consider the possibility that this expert would be cross with him; he also considered the possibility that they could destroy the attempt of the system to allow him to receive the rewards they had promised back then.
Powerful people could manipulate the system. That was something he had accepted long ago, and it wasn’t something that would surprise him.
But this was also a test for him. It was worth it, even if it cost him something as valuable as a Rewind Template. That was because it would allow him to gauge the attitude of the Legend before he went.
If she was too enraged or even just the exact opposite-Sylas would never go.
Someone who was so powerful was bound to have an ego. How could they be sitting around waiting for a little F- tier like himself to decide to join them? That was nothing more than a joke.
If they were too eager, it more than likely meant that they wanted Sylas for something else, and by the time Sylas landed in their palms, it would be too late to regret anything.
However, someone who was too irrational and impossible to reason with was also someone he couldn’t deal with. That said, there was a level of irrationality that was good-just the right amount might actually be perfect.
“No reply? I would say you pissed yourself in fear, but I don’t sense any of that. You’re either a fool or a fool.”
The woman didn’t seem to have made a slip of the tongue, and if she had, she had no intentions of admitting it. “I killed an Analei a few days ago,” Sylas suddenly said.
The voice fell into complete and utter silence. The Will didn’t so much as shift, but its weight and presence were very much still there.
“A former A-tier, Leia Analei. Her most recent incarnation was-“
“Stop speaking.”
Sylas fell into silence, his expression much the same as always.
“You haven’t even come yet and you’re already such a headache. Do you think I don’t know you come from a Summoned World? If you hadn’t, you think I would waste time on someone with as poor a foundation in Rune Mastery as you?”
The old woman seemed ready to continue speaking when she suddenly paused.
“Hm… not as weak as before. But you get my point. I’m aware of why you didn’t accept. However, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, little boy. You can’t reject when you want to and return when you want to, and now you’re talking to me about killing my granddaughter, for goodness’ sake.”
Sylas’ eyes narrowed.
“I swear, young men these days are really only more and more unbridled than the last. If she ends up wasting two reincarnations because of you, I’ll have to spank the both of you.”
Suddenly, Sylas understood something.
Maybe the only reason this Legend’s Will was lingering around here in this region in the first place was because she was keeping an eye on Leia… at least in part.
The shock of that matter was that even if she had been doing this, just how far away was the 002 Sanctum from Earth?
They were separated by countless Horizons.
For this to be the “vicinity” that allowed this old woman to sense him, just how broken were her abilities, exactly? How could one person be this powerful?
It also made Sylas realize something else:
The scale of Tiers and how powerful they could get… he had yet to see the top.
He had seen many C-tiers until now, but not a single one had a scope of power even remotely close to this. Although the gap between Tiers only widened as one moved up, if A-tiers had the power to scan across dozens or even hundreds of Horizons, then shouldn’t C-tiers at least have galaxy-level strength?
He wasn’t even sure if any of the C-tiers of their 001 Sanctum could destroy a planet without a great deal of effort. And that was under the assumption that he was speaking of Sectors as weak as this one.
Well… maybe with the exception of Gralith, and by extension of that, Ekear, who seemed to be hiding his own secrets.
Could this just be a function of a much stronger existence acting on much weaker territories? Or was a Legend just truly this broken?
“If you want to join now hoping for protection against Leia, I won’t be giving that to you. At least I won’t be giving it to you if she is at your Tier. But I’ll stop her should she go beyond your Tier. In fact, I should thank you for letting me know. If she wastes one of her final incarnations trying to deal with you, I would have had it up to here.”
The old woman’s voice became a bit shrill, as though she was recalling memories she rather didn’t want to. “I do not need your protection. I only want to join the Weaver Guild to kill a Cryst Emperor.”
There was just the briefest of silences before the old woman began to laugh. She laughed so uproariously that the entire Scorpion Lineage Moon began to shake in the skies, and then the other moons along with it, before it felt like even the stars of the galaxy as a whole were twinkling to the cadence of her laughter.
Oddly enough, she didn’t sound nearly so old right now. In fact, she sounded youthful, exuberant, beautiful even- the voice of a woman who entertained with her voice for a living.
However, she wasn’t laughing in mockery; she was laughing with almost the slightest tinge of madness, as though she had finally found someone with the same level of wildness as her.
“Are you aware of how powerful a Cryst Emperor is, young man? There are none currently at the F-tier. The weakest is at the E-tier and would rip even the God Beasts of your Sanctum to pieces should they even look at him wrong. Tell me again what you want to do?”
“I don’t like to repeat myself.”
The old woman’s laughter made the galaxy wink.
