Chapter 1824: Free [Bonus]

Chapter 1824: Free [Bonus]

As casually as Sylas waved his hand, defeating Meikai hadn't been easy. In fact, without Reaper Sealwright, he wouldn't have succeeded.

Luckily, he was able to use a combination of Vipermancy and Reaper Sealwright to target specific nodes in Meikai's body that built the Demon World Chains several times more potent in their efficacy.

Unfortunately for Meikai, her act of bucking up against the chains and reducing their power had given Sylas the focused lens he needed. If not for that, it would have taken him probably days of battle before he could finally manage it.

It had to be remembered that whether it was Vipermancy or Reaper Sealwright, both were still at the E-Grade, while Meikai was in the D-Grade.

Thanks to Runeweaver being in the D-Grade, there were many things that Sylas could see that he normally wouldn't be able to at his level—especially now that he could wield D-Grade Will as well.

However, untangling the surface-level D-Grade capabilities of Meikai's body to make it deeper into what F- and E- Grade layers he could manipulate was extremely difficult.

Every time one elevated to a new tier, everything that formed them was bundled up into a tight mesh and squeezed into one's Foundation. Sylas himself had only just experienced that.

This meant that when you faced an enemy of a certain tier, the easiest parts of them to manipulate were what was on the surface. The rest was nigh unreachable.

Finding a crevice to take advantage of had been extremely difficult.

Luckily for Sylas, like he said, Meikai had had a method of directly resisting the chains. From what Sylas could tell, Meikai's solar-flare-like Aether had birthed a Comprehension of its own, one that essentially made her the center of her own galaxy.

Using a similar concept to how stars acted at the center of star systems and were the reason worlds could exist, she heavily leaned on that to partially fool the Demon World into thinking she wasn't actually in its world at all, but instead in her own.

This was a very raw and simple explanation for something that was incredibly complex, and Sylas couldn't make out all of the details because all the intricacies that went into it would have probably required him learning the Comprehension himself.

But all he had needed to know was that this was the root of how Meikai was resisting the chains and even growing stronger as the battle went on. So if he could follow that thread and find a weak enough point of the Comprehension, then he could use Life Seal on it and suppress it.

Once that Comprehension was suppressed, Meikai became a lot more like her companions, held down and restrained by the Demon World Chains.

The more she sought to fight against it, the more her Will was drained, and the more vulnerable she became to Sylas' methods of attack until she had nothing left to give.

That ended up in this result, but Sylas did have quite some respect for the Azurex heiress.

Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to have thought of sparing her until Gogo decided to step into the picture and ruin things.

The world pulsed and the rotation of the portal reversed.

Meikai was dragged away slowly at first, and then she accelerated backward along with all her other companions.

"KILL ME!" she roared. "KILL ME NOW, YOU COWARD! OR I SWEAR I'LL KILL YOU! DON'T LET ME GET MY TAIL ON YOU!"

With a zipping sound, she vanished as her voice echoed.

"Are you sure about this one?" Sylas asked Gogo.

Gogo looked at him as though to say a million words without saying anything. His mouth parted and then closed before he gave Sylas another "really" look.

"The difference is that I've known Cassarae since I was literally a baby," Sylas replied calmly.

Gogo harrumphed, then slithered away. As he passed by the outpost Helena was hanging from, he bit her in half, saving Sylas the hassle.

Maybe it was his own act of mercy. The Spawn was in such a daze that she didn't even know it was happening until it was already over.

Sylas looked out into the sea of corpses.

He was quite sure that this could be taken advantage of. In fact, from afar, he had sensed the Duchess do so several times.

She hadn't even cared about injury or other problems because she just kept drinking their blood.

Her power was on a completely different level from the usual.

It was a shame she was a Demon. If Sylas could use her in the Real World without her being chained to oblivion, he probably wouldn't even have to worry about the coming battle. But he needed her nonetheless.

"That's enough," Sylas said. "If you take all the blood for yourself, I won't be able to do what I need to do."

The Duchess' fangs flashed up from the neck of an Azurex, a flicker of disappointment in her eyes. But after seeing Sylas' battle, she had no choice but to respect him.

Sylas had entered the E-Grade battlefield as an F-tier and dealt with both her and her father.

Now, he had only just become an E-tier, but he had managed to defeat a D-tier God.

Whatever methods he used, the result was undeniable.

[Sky Roaming City Defense Completed]

[Welcome, City Lord Grimblade]

Panels flashed before Sylas and a long, laundry list of items became available.

Sylas slowly walked to the spawns again, his expression calm, but his demeanor entirely different from before. The thick scent of blood hung in the air.

He swept a gaze over them all and then brushed past.

They were free to feel however they wanted to feel so long as they understood one thing:

He said what he meant and he did what he said.

Sylas entered his City Lord "Mansion," the floating Legendary City Stele hovering before him.

Now, there was just one thing to do. The real reason he had come here.

If he wanted to beat the game, he would have to step off its board for a moment.
