The whole Vulture’s Hill City was experiencing some changes. The news of Sand Fall City’s destruction was shocking to everyone. The locals were wondering who could have done it.

The people who usually travel to other cities have decided to stop their travels for the time being. Some of the families have noticed that the big families were silent.

The big families each have a Magic Lord Ancestor. That’s why the city was being protected from all kinds of threats.

Otherwise, the Ashen Wind Nation would have attacked them already.

Right now, the big families were rather silent. There was no news from them. It was also causing an unsettling feeling among the locals.

There was a rumour going on that it was an attack done by the wizards of the neighbouring nation. Everyone knows that the City Lord of Sand Fall City was a Magic Lord.

Not an ordinary City Lord, but a veteran who had been a Magic Lord for over a hundred years. It’s not easy for one or two people to take him down.

They were worried that an enemy Magic Lord had made a move. The Magic Lord could target Vulture’s Hill City next.

Such rumours were causing fear among the locals. The wandering wizards who were staying here have decided to leave as well.

They too noticed the abnormality of the city. Whenever such situations happened, the City Lord would release a statement.

But the administration of the city here was different. It was jointly run by several wizard families. So, it needed to be a collective decision.

Yet not a single representative from the wizard families made a public appearance. This has caused an uneasy feeling among the wandering wizards.

Several wizards with different power levels have gathered here. Among them, Forbidden Wizards and Magic Lords were here as well.

They were from different cities. Including the Magic Lords from Vulture’s Hill. The reason they had not returned was because of the investigation.

If someone dies or is killed at the level of a Magic Lord, it’s huge news. The suspicious people would be the Magic Lords of the nearby cities.

The Magic Lords of Vulture’s Hill were no different. They were interrogated by the Forbidden Wizards.

In the end, they were able to prove their innocence. From the thorough investigation, they were able to find out the reason.

The survivors witnessed a giant humanoid attack both the City Lord and the city. In the first strike, it killed City Lord Coleman. In the second attack, it destroyed the city.

The giant humanoid then left the city. Not one, but more than a hundred survivors recounted the same thing.

An old man wearing dirty clothes opened his eyes. His eyes were rather sharp and clean.

“Could it be a Magic Knight?” he thought.

But he didn’t dare to voice it out because he himself thought it impossible. The old man was one of the Forbidden Wizards here.

He had heard the survivors’ stories as well. Their description matched the Magic Knight.

He then said, “This was not something we can handle.”

“The Mage Union must have known about it by now. They will send someone from their side to investigate. Let’s hope this was not the work of the Ashen Wind guys,” he added.

“Harumph!”

“They were too young to challenge the Mage Union,” one more Forbidden Wizard snorted.

Clearly, everyone was on the same line. They can’t do anything without the Mage Union. These people then decided to leave.

One after another, the wizards left. City Lord Coleman’s body was nowhere to be seen. Someone must have taken it before them.

The Magic Lords of Vulture’s Hill were returning as well. It was a bad day for them too. They were targeted in the beginning.

Then they were able to prove their innocence. Now they are going back to their city. The Magic Lords have decided to strictly monitor the city.

Especially since they didn’t know what the giant existence was.

It didn’t take long for them to return to Vulture’s Hill. The city was peaceful as usual. They all felt relieved.

Upon returning to their family, they learned what was going on here. Malicious rumours were spreading. The Magic Lords communicated and decided to find the culprit first.

From MC’s Perspective

Meanwhile,

Otto, Hank, and Patrick came back to the hotel. Otto found out that the Magic Lords had returned. He heard their conversation.

They have returned from Sand Fall City. The Mage Union is going to investigate the destruction of the city.

He also learned that they are going to impose restrictions on the city.

Swoosh!

I appeared outside after noticing their presence. Then we sat down and started our discussion. Otto began sharing the intel.

A few minutes later,

I sighed inwardly. I was right. The Magic Lords are going to be cautious. We have just come here. If they start to impose rules, then we could be forced to reveal our identities.

“Master, I spoke with the old men. They have agreed to leave tonight. There is no need for us to wait for the Magic Lords to impose restrictions. We can leave before that,” Hank said.

“Yes, Master. I think it’s better to leave. The destruction of Sand Fall City has caused a huge commotion. The nearby cities were considered suspicious,” Otto said.

“Master, I think we should not waste time. The wizard families were not always kind. If they find anything abnormal, they will investigate it,” Patrick said.

“Alright, get ready,” I said to them.

2 hours later,

We checked out of the hotel. After leaving the city gate, we joined the two old men with wandering wizard costumes.

I had already informed the other three about how to address me. I’m their acquaintance’s descendant, so they are taking care of me.

The two old men completely believed it. As we were walking, I noticed there were other groups apart from us.

They had found something abnormal with the city as well. But none of them spoke anything inside the city.

Instead, everyone was discussing it while walking on the mountain path.
