Chapter 2297: Core And Auxiliary Tools.
Legion killed slaves that weren’t useful and created more epic slaves. Then they made their slaves have more than one pathway.
This was dangerous work. It required the use of every tool they had on hand in order to ensure success.
People capable of having two pathways are rare in the first place. What’s more, these kinds of people with potential can’t be determined easily.
The only way Legion could determine how many souls someone has was to enslave them first. This meant that they had to enslave every candidate that came for recruitment.
They didn’t have many slots for slaves. So they had to kill the recruits that turned out to be short of six souls.
The scarsity of slots for slaves meant that only candidates with the potential to have two pathways could survive the interview process.
When Legion reached their limit of slaves with all their slaves having at least six souls, they couldn’t kill the slaves anymore. So they imprisoned the rest of the godclads that came for recruitment and stored them for future use.
The people that survived were one in three of the 60 people that initially came for the recruitment. So about 40 people died because they lacked potential.
The death toll before they even began their project was so high. But no one went to waste during the whole process.
Legion ate their flesh and drank their blood for their advancement requirement or kept their divine flesh to sell for funds or use to raise talented replacements.
However, the death toll continued to increase because the process of becoming an epic being with two pathways was very dangerous.
It was easy for Legion to help a talented person have two pathways. But it was very difficult to make someone with two pathways become an epic being in both pathways because the modification of the body when godclads advance to rank 4 always causes the two pathways to clash.
They had many tools on hand, which increased the survival rate. They had the rank 3 Hypnotize and rank 5 Sensory Hijack from the pathway of the telepath. These two divine abilities served as the core assistive tools for their project.
The core tools had to be used on their slaves over a long period of time. So they needed time to prepare before they could display their full effect in helping their slave advance.
They also had the rank 1 Heal, rank 2 Purify, and rank 3 Bless divine abilities from the pathway of light. These three were the auxiliary divine abilities.
The auxiliary abilities are not weak at all. In fact, they are equal to the core divine abilities in terms of effectiveness. It is just that they didn’t need much time to prepare and could be used at any time to full effect, so they became auxiliary tools.
Despite all of these tools, they still couldn’t help many of their slaves survive becoming epic beings in two pathways. This made them pause their project and do research. to solve the matter.
Their research lasted days, but it didn’t go to waste because they learned the core problem and even discovered a solution for it. So the research was fulfilling. But they weren’t completely happy with what they gained from their research.
They learned that the main reason why advancing to rank 4 is so dangerous is that the modification that occurs to the body during advancement is similar to mutation. It is not total mutation, but it is 50% similar to the state of mutation and losing control to divine flesh.
As long as someone is not advancing to rank 4, they won’t have any problem with clashing pathways regardless of how many pathways they have. This is because the divine flesh from rank 1 to rank 3 will be attached to independent souls.
But once a godclad tries to advance to rank 4, the divine flesh from rank 1 to rank 3 will change the body. This won’t be much of a problem for a single pathway. But the danger will escalate once divine flesh from two pathways tries to occupy and modify the same body.
In simple terms, if one pathway modifies the body by 50%. Even if the second pathway doesn’t clash with the 50% that has been modified, it will have to take the remaining 50%. This will lead to the body of the godclad being 100% mutated, which will lead to total loss of control and death.
This is just the case when the two pathways avoid each other. Legion can still solve this problem by enslaving the godclad and preventing them from losing control to their divine flesh from within.
But if the divine flesh clashes with each other in any way, the body won’t mutate and will lose control. The body will just break apart because of the clash between pathways. So the death will be quicker. There will be nothing that can be done to solve the issue.
The problem was big and looked impossible to solve, but Legion didn’t give up looking for a solution because they knew that other people like Sir Kris had succeeded in making their two pathways advance to rank 4.
They thought that if people like Sir Kris and the god of justice could do it, there had to be a solution. So they kept looking for a way out.
It took a while, but Legion discovered that there was a way to prevent pathways from clashing. Actually, there were two solutions.
The two solutions were mastery of divine abilities and innate abilities. They do the same thing but do it in slightly different ways.
It was stated that if a godclad has an innate ability that is compatible with a pathway, they should advance this pathway to the epic rank after their first pathway.
Not just any innate ability will do. The innate ability had to be compatible with the pathway, as this is the only way that the innate ability will be able to exert influence over the pathway and prevent it from clashing with the first pathway.
