Chapter 2322: Fishing For Shriekers.
Legion-3 agreed with Legion-6 and he cautioned solemnly, “If we fail to kill the legends secretly, then we will only alert all of them and make them prepare more, which will make our mission more difficult.”
Legion-1 alao added, “If that plan flops and rhdy become alert, it would have been better to attack the energy spring directly and catch them off guard. So there is too much risk with that plan.”
Legion-9 said to all of them, “I hope you are not forgetting that the legends are not the only resistance that we have to face. There are other powerful rank 6 godclads in the city and they are far more than the number of legends.”
Legion-5 frowned and said, “Maybe we should just target everyone in the city and kill them together.”
All of them began to argue and plan. They came up with many ideas and plans one moment. Then they tore down those ideas and plans the next moment.
Some ideas withstood the deconstruction and became better for it. But many more ideas crumbled after they were picked apart. Through all of these, a plan was being slowly and surely worked out.
Legion-12 sighed and said, “At least the energy spring isn’t being protected by the lamp bearers and the church of justice. That would truly be difficult to overcome.”
They were still arguing about the plans regarding the advancement to the legendary rank. There was no need to rush because they still had a lot of preparations to make.
One of the preparations they have to do is advance their pathway of the telepath to rank 6. They need to get the rank 6 Mind Howl divine ability, as it will help them overcome large groups of enemies.
The Mind Howl divine ability is the first divine ability that telepaths will have for attacking groups of enemies at once. So it is a divine ability capable of producing a large area of attack.
Once they have this ability, they won’t have to worry about being surrounded and overwhelmed by the nobles of the city when they try to steal their energy spring. Fortunately, they are about to find a way to solve the advancement requirement for rank 6.
If they plan to head to the spiritual dimension to find psychic shriekers, they will need to find a way to enter the spiritual dimension first. They have found that way, and it is to create a spiritual portal.
They still don’t know how to create a spiritual portal, but they are already in negotiations with someone in order to acquire the technology.
However, even when they get the technology, they still don’t plan to enter the spiritual dimension until they become legends. They would prefer to bring the psychic shriekers to the main dimension and kill them in safety.
Fortunately, their wish is something that is possible in reality. There is a way to fish psychic shriekers from the spiritual dimension into the physical dimension.
This technology treats the spiritual dimension as a body of water. The goal is to put a bait into this body of water that will attract a specific fish and then pull out the fish from the water after it gets hooked.
With this technology, they will be able to pull psychic shriekers into the material plane from the safety of their base. It is a safe way to complete their advancement requirement, but it will be expensive and slow.
This fishing technology and the spirit portal creation technology all work based on the walker pathway. They are one of the few pathways that can enter the spiritual dimension with their physical body and practically the only ones who can take others into the spiritual dimension with their physical bodies intact too.
Only legendary walkers can create the spirit portal and the tools needed to fish, so it is going to be very expensive to acquire the method.
Not only that, using this method will be slow because fishing for a particular fish in the vast spiritual dimension will take time. They won’t be able to do anything but wait until their preferred fish takes the bait.
The best that they can do is get a very good bait that will attract the psychic shriekers and a good fishing rod that won’t break as they try to pull the psychic shrieker out of the spiritual dimension.
While Legion was preparing for their fishing trip, they heard some interesting news. They heard that nobles of the city were putting together a small army to reinforce the nobles of the kingdom in their war against the church of justice.
What Legion found interesting about the news was that the nobles offered generous benefits in order to recruit unaffiliated godclads, but less than five godclads showed up, and none of these five was an epic being.
They found this information interesting for two reasons. The first thing that amused them was the thought that the nobles thought that they could offer a price worth the life of the godclads that they wanted to send to their death.
The second thing that amused them was that most godclads knew that joining the war meant forfeiting their lives, so they didn’t show up. Legion didn’t think the humans were smart enough to realize this.
Legion-10 said, “It might not be only those five who signed up. Maybe some others signed up but asked for their recruitment and identity to be kept a secret so that they won’t be targeted by the Church of Justice later after the war.”
Legion-7 asked, “What do you mean after the war? Why won’t the church of justice target them directly on the battlefield? Do you think they will survive the war?”
Legion-5 explained, “They might survive the war if they don’t have a hand in directly killing a judge or lamp bearer and if their identity is never revealed.”
Legion-10 confirmed what Legion-5 said by saying, “That’s exactly what I meant. Take, for example, Fate weavers. They don’t have to kill on the battlefield. All they need to do is direct the battlefield as advisors or even generals.”
