GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2325: Attack Plus Defense Combo.

Chapter 2325: Attack Plus Defense Combo.

Not only did no one expect the nobles to turn on everyone, but they also focused too much on fighting and defeating the one person who broke the tyranny of the nobles and helped everyone gain their freedom.

It seemed to Legion that no one considered that the existence of the church of justice was keeping the nobles in check and breaking that balance might lead to disastrous consequences.

This made Legion look like the only ones with a brain among a herd of sheep. There were just too many signs that something was out of place in the Mind Hunters.

It was a strange sight, but Legion wasn’t confused anymore about what was going on now that they have narrowed down the source of the problem to the food and drinks that these telepaths indulge in every day.

Legion thought that something was wrong, but they didn’t mention their thoughts to anyone. They just went about their business trying to acquire more power while they watched the brave men and women from all walks of life fighting against the tyranny of the church of justice.

What they saw was truly entertaining. The war tilted this way and that as if two teams were locked in a tug of war. Legion was at the edge of their seat the whole time.

The existence of a certain judge called Commander Isaac the undefeated shifted the tides of victory in favor of the church of justice. But things didn’t continue to remain so after the defeat.

First of all, the devastating defeat at the hands of Commander Isaac taught the nobles a good lesson. That lesson was that they shouldn’t lead armies into battle.

Nobles realized that giving up on the benefit of their rank 4 divine ability called Land Sovereign was a terrible idea. So rank 4 nobles stopped attacking the judges. They instead decided to stand their ground and defend their territories.

They didn’t sit by doing nothing, though. They still created armies, which they sent to harass and attack the judges.

This is where the second change to the war took effect. This second change was caused by the kingdom-wide support that the nobles gained for the war.

The defeat at the hands of Commander Isaac also had a hand to play in this. Commander Isaac defeated the nobles so much that the high-ranking nobles began pressuring everyone to join or support their war with weapons or money.

If not for this kingdom-wide support, the nobles wouldn’t have been able to stand their ground and also attack the judges. All that they would have been able to do is sit like turtles and let the judges attack them however the judges wished.

But thanks to all of the financial and manpower support, the nobles were able to eat their cake and have it. They were able to create a large army for defending and also prepare a large army for attacking.

On the other side, the judges were far away from their base of support. The kingdom of justice is far away from the Wessex kingdom, so it will take time for reinforcements to arrive for the judges.

The kingdom of justice was also at war with the kingdom of nobles, or the empire of nobility, as they like to be called.

The Empire of Nobility is a kingdom supported by the god of nobles and has been at war with the kingdom of justice for a long time. They usually defend passively, but they recently ramped up their offensive against the kingdom of justice, so the kingdom of justice couldn’t reinforce the judges in Wessex with their full power.

So not only was reinforcement slow and late, but reinforcement was also lacking in quantity and quality. To top it off, the god of justice was also not involved in the war.

The god of justice was absent, while, even though no one knew it, the god of disorder was involved in the war, creating plagues and disasters. So the war was unfair for the judges.

It was understandable that the god of justice didn’t participate in the war. After all, there didn’t appear to be a god involved on the side of the nobles either. But no cardinal from the church of justice had joined the war yet.

The judges didn’t have their cardinals, which meant that the judges could never defeat cities that have rank 6 nobles protecting them. The boost from Land Sovereign to nobles and the protection of walls was just too much for judges to overcome without legends.

Meanwhile, the nobles had their legends. The legends hadn’t joined the war yet, but if they did, the judges would stand no chance whatsoever.

But even without the pressure of the legendary nobles, things were already bad for the judges, and it only continued to get worse. Even the ever-optimistic Isaac was beginning to feel the pressure.

One major source of the pressure was the telepaths. The telepaths were formidable on their own, but they also had a way of increasing and maintaining the morale of their own soldiers.

The telepaths were also riling up the mortals against the judges. They brainwashed the mortals and used them as cannon fodder against the judges.

This kind of despicable tactic worked against the judges. Mortals are weak and nonthreatening to godclads. Even a rank 1 godclad could kill ten mortals without trying. But the judges didn’t want to kill the mortals.

The judges were hesitant to kill the mortals sent to fight them. They would only wait until the mortals got close to them and attacked them before they retaliated in self-defense. This was a bad thing to do on the battlefield, and they paid the price for it.

Whenever the nobles attacked, they always placed mortals in front of their armies and used them as shields in battle. The judges were unwilling to kill mortals, so they were always slow to action which led to them being beaten back and defeated again and again.
