Chapter 2497: Hide And Seek.

It is even said that angels of undying can use the Phantom Escape divine ability to attack others by intentionally rushing towards their enemy and crashing into them.

By turning themselves into a bullet, they can deal serious damage to a target while they remain safe because of all of their defenses and shields.

But since the power of the Phantom Escape is dependent on the age of the angel of Undying, Legion is sure that they can do more with it.

In order to figure out what it can do, they decided to test it. Unfortunately, before they could do so, a great enemy came to interrupt them.

They sensed this great enemy before it arrived. So they entered the Mindscape before the enemy found them and had escaped by the time the enemy arrived.

This enemy was the god of dreams. This divine being had also been looking for undying angels and had stumbled onto the clue that Legion found.

There was more than one person who witnessed who should have been an ordinary person being unharmed after being struck by two speeding horses. So even if Legion had tried to kill everyone who knew in order to clean the traces of the angel of undying, they would have found it difficult to do or failed at doing it because they didn’t know how many people saw the event.

The god of dreams found one of the witnesses and sent his vessel to track down the angel of undying in the physical dimension, while he went around looking for the angel of undying in the dreams of people in the dream realm.

So it was both the vessel of the god of dreams and the god of dreams himself that went to the same restaurant that Legion went to. This was why Legion sensed immense danger and chose to escape.

They just didn’t have it in them to fight a god and a legend with the power of an angel right now. But if only the vessel had arrived, they might have chosen to fight him.

The vessel didn’t see Legion at the restaurant, but he sensed that something was amiss. After all, there was an array sealing the place, and everyone in the restaurant had died. There was also the surge of spiritual energy that bellowed out of the restaurant after the seal was opened.

Even if he was looking for someone in the restaurant, the god of dreams would have tried to figure out what happened here. So the god of dreams scoured the dream realm in the area looking for the dreams of everyone who used to be in the restaurant and in the area.

Dead people still have dreams. The dream island of dead people will be damaged and often fragmented, but it will take time before the dream islands dissipate completely.

Unfortunately, all of these people were nameless mortals. Their minds were weak and insignificant when they were alive. So now that they were dead, there was literally nothing in the dream realm to indicate that they were ever alive.

Only the mind of the angel of undying was left. The dream island was even largely intact because he hadn’t died a painful death, so the god of dreams was able to get a lot of information from his dream island.

The god of dreams entered the dream island and discovered what Legion had done to the angel of undying. Through what the god of dreams saw, he was able to confirm that Legion was definitely the one who killed the angel of undying.

There was one main reason why the god of dreams was so sure of the identity of the killer. It was because the killer didn’t know the identity of the person who killed him, and did nothing as he was being killed.

The angel of undying didn’t even know that there were three people who ambushed him. He couldn’t see his attackers at all.

The best that the god of dreams could tell through his dead dream was that the murderer used the divine abilities of the pathway of error and slavery to weaken the angel of undying. Then the divine abilities of the pathway of killing were also used to finish the angel of undying.

This made the god of dreams say, “So there is the pathway of undying, the pathway of error, the pathway of slavery, and the pathway of killing displayed here. One person can’t have all of these pathways, so there must be more than one killer. Yet, this unlucky fellow didn’t see the identity of any of them.”

Then the god of dreams smiled and said, “There is only one person I know who can hide the identity and actions of many people from the perception of the person they are doing those actions to.”

The angel of undying had failed to figure out who his killer was, but his failure and inability helped the god of dreams confirm that Legion had truly come here to kill this angel of undying. But this led to some confusion because the god of dreams couldn’t figure out why Legion would try to kill another angel of Undying.

The god of dreams mused, “Why would an angel of telepathy kill an angel of undying? Did this angel of undying know something important about him? Or was he killing him as a competitor for the authority of the pathway, or did he kill him so as to make way for a new angel of undying?”

“Or maybe he wasn’t an angel of undying in the past and needed the rank 9 divine flesh. Or maybe he was just getting the rank 9 divine flesh for one of his brainwashed servants. It could be anything.”

The god of dreams racked his mind and came up with many options for why Legion would want to kill another angel of Undying. For a while, he couldn’t figure out which reason was the true motive, but he had his favorite and most likely motive.
