Chapter 2509: Sabotage Before The Finish Line.

Only desperate or greedy gods rely on faith. The god of killing knew this, but he had no choice in the matter.

He had to ride the edge of a blade whose sides represented either losing control to faith and becoming a puppet to his believers’ wishes or losing control to the Ocean of Blood and becoming a mindless killing machine.

The god of killing had walked the fine line of sanity and power for many years by managing the size of his believers. When they got too many, he would kill some of them. And when their numbers dwindled, he would convert more believers.

All of his hard work paid off. He was able to fuse with the Ocean of Blood at a fast speed and quickly became the publicly acknowledged strongest god in the world.

He might not have been the strongest god in existence. But he truly hadn’t met another god that could compete with him.

Even if there was a god out there that could compete with him, it was only a matter of time for him to match them. Unfortunately, he couldn’t achieve this because someone began killing his believers en masse.

The person didn’t target him directly but chose to strike at his foundation. Their actions were swift, so he didn’t have much time to react.

The best that he could do was separate his avatars from his main body. But this only hastened the consequences of losing so many believers so quickly.

The action of his enemy made him lose the mental struggle with the Ocean of Blood and go mad. He became mad and began to kill mindlessly. He roamed the world as a life-reaping machine. Rivers of blood always flowed in his wake.

The gods who saw him ignored him. Only the god of justice came forward to stop him.

The god of justice succeeded in killing him. But his death wasn’t the end of his suffering. Whoever had sabotaged him also forced the god of justice to guard the Ocean of Blood.

From what he knows, he believes that the person behind his downfall is the god of guardians, and he believes that the reason why the god of guardians hasn’t taken the Ocean of Blood for himself is either because he hasn’t met the requirements to control it.

It could also be that he simply couldn’t attempt fusing with a third authority because the other two are too burdensome, or that he was too busy fusing with the authority of the pathway of giants to bother with the Ocean of Blood.

He is most inclined to the third reason. This is because the pathway of giants had disappeared from the world, and this happened while the Ocean of Blood was locked away.

The disappearance of the divine flesh of a pathway usually means that the god of the pathway has fused completely with the authority of the pathway and recovered all of the scattered power of the pathway in the divine flesh back onto itself.

This is also done in order to prevent someone else from using the divine flesh of the pathway to become an angel of the pathway and threaten the position of the god. Either way, any god who can do this must have complete control of their pathway.

So he believes that the god of guardians was busy fusing with the two authorities on his hands, but didn’t want the god of killing to continue to grow, so he sabotaged the god of killing and made the god of justice guard the Ocean of Blood and prevent a new god of killing from appearing.

If he is right, then when the god of guardians has completely fused with the pathway of giants, he will come after the Ocean of Blood. The pathway of giants hasn’t disappeared yet, so there is still time before that happens.

But since the Ocean of Blood was freed before the god of guardians was ready, it is likely that the Ocean of Blood is under the god of guardians’ control or surveillance.

This is why the half god of killing doesn’t think he can just waltz over to the Ocean of Blood now and take it. If he didn’t have this concern and there was nothing to worry about, he would have left his temple to take the Ocean of Blood since it became free.

He was hoping to at least get a strong body and recover the strength of a godling before he made the attempt to take the Ocean of Blood. But Legion’s existence is forcing his hand and making him take action now.

He has to either try to recover the Ocean of Blood now or be slowly cooked to death as Legion becomes the new god of killing. This is kind of the situation he was in when he just became the god of killing.

When he became the god of killing and realized the situation he was in, he also had to do something bad and desperate in order not to be slowly cooked to death waiting for the god of guardians to come free his life.

His desperate actions back then eventually led to failure and made him the crippled existence he is right now. As bad as things are, he doesn’t regret his actions at all.

He said to himself, “I’m still fighting and that’s all that matters. I will keep fighting until there is no fighting left in me or until there is no one left to fight.”

As it turned out, the half god of killing was right to be concerned, though. The Ocean of Blood is truly being guarded. Legion can confirm this because they have found the Ocean of Blood in the spiritual dimension.

Legion-1, Legion-2, and Legion-3 have found the Ocean of Blood for quite a while now. They found it quickly by following the directions of the divine flesh of the previous god of killing. But they haven’t been able to approach it because they could feel danger around it.
