Chapter 962 - 505: Heart of the Divine Wood

Chapter 962: Chapter 505: Heart of the Divine Wood

"The Qingxia Sect killed so many people in Stone Village. This enmity cannot coexist under the same sky!"

Gu Sheng’s eyes burned with the fire of revenge, but Master Zhang’s words also made him calm down. In a deep voice, he said, "I’ll go to the Divine Wood Forest first to find the Heart of the Divine Wood and gain that endless divine power to enhance my strength!"

Er Gou and Shi Lou exchanged a glance, both of their eyes filled with determination.

Er Gou scratched his head, his voice muffled and hearty: "Brother Sheng, you saved my life, wherever you go, I’ll follow. Even if it’s a mountain of swords or a sea of flames, I’ll charge through with you!"

Shi Lou also nodded in agreement: "That’s right, the three of us brothers should live and die together!"

Master Zhang looked at the three young men in front of him, letting out a long sigh. He knew he couldn’t dissuade them, so he said no more.

The three of them bowed deeply to Master Zhang, then turned and walked towards the direction of the Divine Wood Forest.

The Divine Wood Forest is shrouded in fog all year round, said to be the place where the Ancient Divine Wood fell, full of unknown dangers.

As soon as they set foot in the forest, a damp chill swept towards them.

The tree canopy blocked out the sun completely, leaving only scattered light streaming through the gaps in the leaves, casting flickering light spots on the ground.

"Brother Sheng, this forest is eerie and kind of creepy."

Er Gou shrank his neck and whispered.

Gu Sheng watched his surroundings warily and said in a low voice: "Be careful, this place is where Demon Beasts roam."

No sooner had he spoken than a deafening roar came from deeper in the forest, causing the ground to tremble slightly.

"Roar—!"

The three of their faces changed, and they quickly drew their weapons, standing back to back, eyes fixed vigilantly on the direction of the sound.

A huge bear covered in black scales slowly walked out of the thicket. Its scarlet eyes flickered with bloodthirsty glints, and sharp fangs protruded from its mouth, dripping with sticky saliva, evidently viewing the three of them as prey.

"Not good, it’s a Black Scale Bear, a Divine Bridge Realm Demon Beast!"

Gu Sheng drew in a breath, his face becoming very grim.

Er Gou swallowed his spit, his voice trembling slightly: "Brother Sheng, what do we do?"

Facing the sudden Black Scale Bear, Gu Sheng’s eyes instantly icy and resolute.

He knew full well that today’s battle was unavoidable.

He whispered to Er Gou and his other companion Shi Lou, "Don’t be afraid, if we fight together, we might stand a chance!"

The Black Scale Bear let out a low growl, its four limbs on the ground, its massive body pressing closer like a small mountain, each step causing the ground to shiver.

Er Gou and Shi Lou exchanged a glance, seeing determination and resolve in each other’s eyes.

Er Gou gripped his iron rod tightly, while Shi Lou drew from his waist a longsword glimmering with cold light, the two flanking Gu Sheng in preparation for battle.

"Roar!"

The Black Scale Bear launched the first attack, leaping with a bound, its colossal body tracing a black arc in the air, heading straight for Gu Sheng.

Gu Sheng sidestepped narrowly, evading the strike with margins of peril, while simultaneously casting the Fire Spirit Dagger in reverse grip, the dagger cutting a brilliant trail of fire aimed directly at the Black Scale Bear’s left eye.

"Aow!"

The Black Scale Bear let out a cry of pain, its left eye burned by the Fire Spirit Dagger’s searing heat, temporarily losing sight, yet in its fury, its attacks grew even fiercer.

Upon seeing this, Er Gou swung his iron rod, attempting to draw the Black Scale Bear’s attention.

However, the power of the Black Scale Bear far exceeded expectations, and with one hit, Er Gou felt an immense force strike, sending him flying and crashing heavily to the ground, spitting blood, clearly suffering serious injuries.

Meanwhile, Shi Lou also launched an attack, his movements swift like a phantom, weaving a silver net of swords in midair, attempting to lock down the Black Scale Bear’s actions.

But the Black Scale Bear’s hide was tough and thick, and though the net was dense, it only left shallow scars on its body, instead enraging the massive beast.

With a roar of anger, the Black Scale Bear turned and swiped a claw at Shi Lou.

"Ah..."

Shi Lou couldn’t dodge in time, the claw tearing into his left arm, blood gushing out as he staggered back, face pale.

"Dammit!"

At the critical moment, Gu Sheng recalled the Fire Spirit Dagger, his eyes flashing with determination.

He took a deep breath, his Life Spring surging through his body, a pure and powerful divine power flowing along his meridians to his palm, infusing into the Fire Spirit Dagger.

The dagger erupted with dazzling light, as if ablaze with fierce flames, the temperature spiking, even distorting the surrounding air.

"Slash!"

Gu Sheng swung the Fire Spirit Dagger with force, its fierce blade light slicing directly towards the Black Scale Bear’s head.

The Black Scale Bear seemed to sense the impending threat, swiftly retracting its massive paw, spinning in place to avoid the Fire Spirit Dagger.

"Pft!"

The Fire Spirit Dagger scored a hideous scar across the Black Scale Bear’s back, immediately spilling blood, a gruesome sight.

The Black Scale Bear emitted an angry roar, its huge body whirled like a windmill, snapping branches wherever it passed with loud "crack" sounds.

"Bang!"

Gu Sheng forcefully pushed off the ground, shooting forward like an arrow from a bow.

"Ha!"

Gu Sheng exhaled with a low shout, his right leg kicking forcefully, his figure crashing into the Black Scale Bear’s abdomen like a cannonball.

"Crack!"

Gu Sheng’s powerful kick landed squarely on the Black Scale Bear’s belly, erupting with a surging divine force that sent the bear flying, rolling for several yards before stopping.

"Aow..."

The Black Scale Bear let out a painful roar, struggling to rise from the ground.
