Chapter 1950: The Old and the New

Azief then closed his eyes, thinking for a moment and then opening back his eyes, the light around him shimmers and he seems invisible.

No one could see him if he did not want to be seen

After all, not knowing many things made him cautious.

“If the time is too far forward, I had to think of a way to return back to the past” he did not entertain the idea that he could go to the past.

If not, the rejection of the world towards him would be greater.

Azief then flies toward Arturia, his entire existence now becomes invisible.

Not in the usual way where he becomes invisible.

But manipulating the essence of the laws of the world to hide from all eyes

Even if he is standing right in front of you, if he did not want someone to see him, no one could see him.

Even his effect of flying is hidden, there is no sound of sonic boom when he breaks through the speed barrier, there is no movement of the clouds and there is no movement of the wind

It is not that there is no effect. It is just that effect is obscured like he is concealing the secrets of heaven

And no radar on earth could detect such an object flying

The technological advances that are developed after the Fall could not keep up with the magical technique that is being developed day by day

Maybe someday, the technological side could walk hand in hand with the magical side, but for now, the magical side of the spectrum is surpassing the technological side by a lot

It did not take long for Azief to arrive on the island of Arturia.

Even though this is only the second time he has been here he knows where the front gate of the capital city of Arturia is

From what he sees, this island is no longer qualified to be called an island. It is like a continent. From the sky view he could see there are countless settlements all over the island continent and there is many cities.

But all of them have roads leading to a city near the shore of the sea.

Arturia

Azief landed not far away from the front of the city gates of Arturia. He enters from the north gate.

And as he landed, he could see the tall wall that now surrounded this capital city

Azief looks at the city, his eyes shine with a golden light and he smiles a bit. He could see all the formation and arrays that is embedded in the city walls, below it and even over it.

“Magnificent. I didn’t know that they could create such a thing this far from the world powers”

“This kind of formation…it reminds me of the formation of the Arrayist Master Lee Sangmin.

In this new world, walls aren’t enough to deter invaders and monsters. Most of the city states all over the world have walls.

In the modern world, most cities don’t have walls.

Because it didn’t need one.

The world evolves from a world needing walls to protect, and instead use other modern conventional ways to protect a city and nation

But the world after the Fall, people started building a wall.

But walls are nothing to people who have reached a high level.

In the beginning these walls were not used to defend against levelers.

It was used to prevent Mutated Sapiens from entering. It also deters some monsters.

But of course, in some places unless the wall is tall enough, this wall is nothing more than just some bricks and stones.

But walls themselves have evolved from the early form of the Fall to it is today.

Even Pandemonium cities have walls. Then what use is walls when people could fly and even monsters could fly in the sky and burrow through the ground?

Even normal weapons could cut through walls and even conventional weapons could easily circumvent walls.

Because the walls that are created after the Fall are not normal walls.

Just like everything else after the Fall, the application of walls is like a barrier of magic. Or to be more accurate, it is a barrier made of magic.

Walls have great uses for formation master and Arrayist master.

For many masters of formation, they need something as a medium.

And for protection formation to protect a city, walls are the best way to enclose a city with formation

Less formation needed to be drawn while making the power radiated to all parts of the city

The kind of people that could use one formation to protect a city without the use of walls are like a rare existence

Even in the world right now, the kind of people that could do that could be counted in one hand

And there is so many cities and states in the world and there is only so many people who could draw such an otherworldly formation

Hence, walls are the perfect medium. It could radiate outward to repel monsters and invaders, it could radiate inside to protect the people inside the walls.

The walls themselves are not the focus of it.

It is the formation embedded into the walls that made walls become vogue again among all the people of the world

Even Azief, who could write formation on the fly using his ring, use walls to surround his Pandemonium Palace

It is just more effective, and more formation could be interlocked with each other creating comprehensive protection formation.

Arrayist Master could write using the wind, the water, and even air but those who could do that are rare.

The only one Azief knows that could do write arrays using the elements is Lee Sangmin.

“No, he is the best among all the others.”

The fact that he could travel lightly from this dimension and the Mirror Dimension shows that his attainment is high

Even though he is not a Divine Comprehension leveler, among the Disk Formation realm leveler, anyone facing him would be bewildered.

Not because he could defeat you with his realm or his strength but because of his method that would appear like divine tricks for people who did not understand formation

Azief had long found out that realm power is not everything.

Unless this person is like him and walks a Perfect Path, realm alone is not the determinant factor in one victory or loss

Some people might have powerful physical body but if they did not learn many other tricks, then when meeting someone like Lee Sangmin that could make you chase your own shadow, the victory tilted heavily towards Lee Sangmin

The same for people like Jean the Time Monarch

Even when Jean was in Disk Formation realm, if one compares physical strength alone, Jean might be in the top ten but not at the top

Yet, most people would rather fight the other top nine rather than Jean. Strength is not always determined by realm and physical strength

Sometimes, it is determined by the way you use your strength.

Formation master strength lies, of course, in their formation

Most of the formation masters, however, need a solid medium.

“How many have the talents of Lee Sangmin in this world?” Azief thought to himself

And even if someone could write using the elements, something like walls, is better as a medium of protection.

Not only does it encircle the city and connected to one another, the formation could easily be spread out. And this formation extended deep into the earth and high toward the sky.

So, it could detect, repel and in some cases could even attack invaders

Azief could see it.

“I am not a formation master” Azief thought to himself.

Of course, if Azief uses his power, he could easily break through this formation.

But there is no need to do that.

Breaking a formation is easy. Repairing it back is hard. Azief did not want to ruin a perfectly good formation without any reason

It is different from when he is in pandemonium. Pandemonium is his.

So, he did not feel such feelings.

Arturia is not an enemy settlement. It might be a pirate city….no, now it is a pirate kingdom. Still, regardless of all of this, it is a city under Pandemonium

Azief did not suddenly awaken to civic responsibility or love for all mankind all of a sudden

He just becomes more appreciative of life. When you are clothed, well fed, when you are at leisure, only then can you understand the great principle of life.

And once you understand it, even if you return to a time when you are not well clothed, or well fed, you will rather hold onto your dignity than live.

One might not understand this unless you experience it yourself. It is like those who have tasted freedom would never once again deign themselves to be enslaved.

It is fine if you do not know it.

You could wallow in ignorance and believe that this is how it should be. But once you are enlightened, those who are truly enlightened would rather die than betray that enlightenment.

Azief is the same.

He was focused on survival in his early years.

There are many things he had to abandon.

He did not abandon his humanity.

But he did abandon a lot of things.

And he did not know a lot of things.

Years later, he had already sat at the highest throne this world could offer. The strongest man in the world!
