Chapter 1964: Reaction of the World Powers

Hikigaya and Oreki himself was not really a patriotic person when the Fall happens.

Both of them were high school students and their biggest worry was about the college admission or what to eat in the lunch cafeteria, whether they could have a fulfilling life in schools and the angst of teenage boys before the Fall

Then the Fall happens, and they were thrust into a position of great power.

They become a warlord, and a leader and these two after battling each other countless of time become comrade and allies and then as natural as the water flowing, the people of Japan themselves nominate them as the Two Sage Guardian of Japan

Not once during those times, they show any desire to restore the Japanese monarchy or to create a new Japan.

Instead, if one looked at their actions at that time, they were more like separatist warlords intending to become the most powerful on the land

They were high school students, so they did not know how to use legitimacy of cause to their advantage.

Instead, it was Hirate that uses this legitimacy by using the Emperor of Japan as the springboard for him to create the World Government

The Emperor of Japan himself has less influence than even a high ranking officer of the World Government.

Compared it to the monarch of the world that survives since the Fall, the situation of the Emperor of Japan was very…. awkward to say the least

Azief knows that Hikigaya and Oreki have grown up and they have great power and they also know now how to use legitimate power to legitimize themselves.

There must be some kind of alliance between the emperor and these two people. Oreki and Hikigaya now has a transcendent status in Japan.

Sages of Japan.

But that title is also a shackle. Even if they do not realize it yet, that expectation and wishes….that is also a shackle.

Hikigaya could see Karma a bit and he does see a lot of things, but he still could not see the power of wishes. Wishes and will are the same thing

There are three parts of the world will. Intangible will that affect cause and effect, affect fortune and luck, and even affect destiny and fate.

There is the Heavenly Will and there is him who take one part of that heavenly will.

The Will he had taken part in was also but another part of the Heavenly Will which is the Laws and Rules of the World.

But there is another part.

And that is the Will of the World. And what is the Will of the World?

The Will of the World is the will of the people living in the world. Their wishes and desires transform into a tangible power that could make the world move

This is the secret of the Heavenly Will that many people did not recognize. That power, that will is still weak.

But each year, as the people become stronger, as the magic of the world becomes stronger, that Will of the World is becoming stronger

And one day, these will of the world could shackle even powerful beings. This is the trap of the heavenly will

Inside the three realm and the five elements, they could not escape it.

Azief also learns that the Twin Sages of Japan…. that is not a title they want.

But they do have it.

And the sovereignty of Japan is merely a cover for their sovereignty.

If Azief got it right, Hirate wanted to rein in the two. Hirate does not want the World Government to become like Pandemonium

The Republic has their laws, but they are quite flexible with the laws. And when Hirate created the World Government, he probably wanted just power and fame

But he has changed from that man.

He truly has become somewhat public spirited.

He still has that cunningness and he still has selfishness in his heart, but that selfishness and cunningness now have a great principle guiding it

Out of those people that have changed the most over the years, Azief had to give that title to Hirate.

When they first joined the World Government, the interests of Japan is safeguarded o to be more accurate, the interest of Hirate and Oreki is safeguarded.

Hikigaya and Oreki himself has made sure that Japan is safe from any monster invasion and natural disaster.

The land they are in is prone to earthquakes and tsunamis but since they reached Disk Formation, they could challenge these natural disasters and now they reached Divine Comprehension realm, there is no tsunamis or monster invasion that these two could not handle

Azief looks at it simply.

The reason why the Empire of Japan secede from the World Government is simply because the interest of these two have been compromised or there is breach of power from Hirate

It might seem selfish. After all, it is these two interest that is jeopardized and not Japan. But that is not entirely true either

Japan elite fighting forces have been decimated. If there is even one before the Fall.

Elite fighting forces and soldiers and army have always been in the control of three people.

Hikigaya, Oreki and Hirate.

Only these three people have power to mobilize army and soldiers since the warlord period had ended in Japan

When the world just enters the Fall, there are many warlords vying for power and influence. And when Hirate just started World Government there were still many factions that were big and small

trying to vie for power but when Hirate, Oreki and Hikigaya united with each other, they simply clean up all of these warlords and create an era for themselves

Now, there is a different opinion between these three with Oreki and Hikigaya sitting on one side and Hirate sitting on another.

So, it is quite accurate to say that the interest of Oreki and Hikigaya is also the interest of Japan.

Hirate could not be considered a part of Japan since he had made his allegiance known. He is the President of the World Government, and he truly dedicated all of his effort in growing the World Government.

Between his own child and other people’s child, it is just common sense that he would prioritize his own child.

Hirate, that is another person that is quite complicated. All in all, he should be more patriotic than these two people who rise from a high school student background.

After all, if Azief got it right, Hirate was a bodyguard of the high-ranking people in Japanese politics.

Yet, there is no shred of patriotism in his bones.

Even though he was even elected Shogun before and gain many political powers in Japan, between the World Government and Japan the stance of Hirate is clear.

And Azief could understand it.

After all, he himself is not that patriotic.

It is not that one should not love their country.

It is that if a country shows that they care for you and protect you, then as the recipient of that protection and blessing, you will surely have your heart turn to that country and will fight and die for such a country

In the ancient past, there were stories of ministers betraying the country. Such betrayers are nailed on the pillar of shame

But sometimes, one never asks the question.

Did they betray the country first, or did the country betray them first?

Some ministers sold their country simply because of money.

Is it the fault of the ruler for appointing such people to high positions, or is it the product of the times and the culture of that country itself that allow such a person to rise in power?

Seeing it only from one side could easily make your mind closed off. Seeing it from many sides, you would see things you never see before.

As for Hirate, he probably never considered himself as loyal minister of Japan.

To him, Japan is other people foundation.

But the World Government is his foundation

He would not abandon his foundation to satisfy other people’s foundation of power.

And right now, Hirate is probably dealing with internal rebellion.

Azief himself did not care much about World Government but not caring does not mean he is unaware.

Out of all the enemies that have faced Azief in the past, the World Government is the trickiest

So, to say he ignores such an adversary would be unwise on his part

Their position is also something that many people in the world want. A firm hand guiding the world.

And maybe the world would find order.

But sometimes, order is not always right.

Azief himself did not create Pandemonium guided by some noble principle.

Instead, Pandemonium initial founding is just because he needed power to act on a much larger scale.

Of course, his thinking had changed since then but it is true that Pandemonium virtue of the number one power is not because of some noble ideas, it is just because he has strength to suppress everything

And fortunately, enough for the world, Azief is not really a hands-on ruler and rarely tries to dictate global policy unless it threatens Earth itself
