Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 4897: Question

Chapter 4897: Question

“You!”

Yue’er glared at him indignantly, watching helplessly as her dagger was confiscated, her teeth gritted in fury.

Seeing this, Xiao Junheng inquired, “Junyan, this child claims you brought her in? Which family’s child is she? Did you truly bring her here?”

At those words, Yue’er’s little head ducked back instinctively. Oh no, oh no—this time she’d been found out.

Xiao Junyan watched the little creature cowering silently, a faint curve lifting the corners of his lips. Even that slight shift startled Xiao Junying standing before him.

Had he seen correctly? Junyan had smiled?

His gaze shifted to the little girl nestled in his arms. Was it because of this child?

“She came with me,” Xiao Junyan stated, cradling the plump little doll. Her soft, squishy body felt incredibly comforting to hold, so he kept her close. Turning his attention back to the two in front of him, his expression turned stern as he reprimanded them.

“Are the teleportation jade tablets at your waists mere ornaments? Did you truly intend to battle a wolf pack alone? Had I not intervened, you would now be food for the wolves!”

The two youths, scolded, dared not speak, only lowering their heads.

“What are you standing around for? Hurry and clean up the battlefield!” Xiao Junyan frowned, his voice cold.

“Yes, yes!” They hurriedly responded, ignoring their own injuries as they began cleaning up the scene. They extracted the crystal cores from the wind wolves and finally pulled out the Wolf King’s fang.

However, they dared not keep these items for themselves, since they hadn’t killed the Wolf King. So they stepped forward and handed everything to Xiao Junyan.

“Young Master, the items…”

“These are yours.” Xiao Junyan said, not even glancing at the items. Instead, his gaze fixed on the little doll in his arms. Seeing her furrowed brow, lost in thought, he pinched her plump little cheek, lifting her head.

“What are you thinking about?”

To his surprise, the little thing’s face felt wonderfully soft to pinch. Soft, smooth, and plump—he almost didn’t want to let go.

Yue’er glared, swatting his hand away from her cheek with a sharp slap. “Don’t touch me!” she snapped.

“How dare you! Show no disrespect to the Young Master!”

The two youths paled at the little girl’s audacity to rebuke Xiao Junyan. They immediately snapped at her, only to catch their young master’s cold, dismissive glance. His expression clearly disdained their meddling, leaving them utterly bewildered.

“Bandage your wounds first,” Xiao Junheng instructed, motioning for the two to tend to their injuries.

The two youths responded immediately, retreating to tend to their wounds.

“Put me down!” Yue’er cried, struggling to free herself from his embrace.

But Xiao Junyan held her tightly, his handsome face expressionless as he declared, “You’re still young. It’s safer for me to carry you.”

“Give me back the dagger, and I can ensure my own safety,” Yue’er countered.

“If I give it back, you’ll just run off again,” he said expressionlessly, carrying her to the side.

Yue’er’s heart skipped a beat. Blinking her beautiful eyes, she replied without flinching, “Run off? What running off? I wouldn’t run off!”

Xiao Junyan watched her silently for a long moment before asking, “What’s your name?”

Yue’er blinked but said nothing.

“You’re not a member of the Xiao family. How did you get in?” Xiao Junyan pressed.
