Chapter 385: Host Is Poisonous!!
Chapter 385: Host Is Poisonous!!
Blood, bones, teeth, urine, and a body?! Jack instantly recognized the pointy ears, with the golden hair a dead giveaway.
The Ex-Elf Princess?!
Crystal Leaf, right? What the heck was she doing here?!
Her state would have made a hobo appear like Prince Charming in comparison. She looked more like a corpse than a living being, unconscious near a grave.
A tomb? Here?!
“Careful, it could be an evil deity’s dwelling and—”
Jack tried warning, but Moon Moon had already jumped to her, reacting on instinct. But it suddenly froze as it saw the tombstone, shocked.
“Woo?!” (W-what’s this doing here?!)
For it, the golden-engraved plaque was highly distressing, not because of its aura, a curse, a ghost, or anything like that. It was the inscription.
~ Here Lies Jack! ~
There was even a portrait of his face!
Wait, what?! Why was this here? Was it the Elf that had erected it? What about her current state and presence here? Had she been banished from the village? What was all this?!
[New Quest: The Shame of the Eleven Village!]
[It Really Was An Evil Deity’s Tomb!]
“…”
“Woo?” (What now?)
“Now we drown her in healing potions until she gets sick of it, and then we get lots of answers.”
Jack was perfectly ready to use as many resources as it took. Not only had she perhaps seen Pumpkin Girl, but he also had a debt to pay towards her.
“C’mon, drink all of it and get better.”
[Jack Used Super Potion!]
[It’s Super Effective!]
A few seconds later, her eyes slowly fluttered open, their gaze slowly meeting. Instantly… “Waaa! I’m sorry, so sorry! You died because of me. It’s all my fault, even now—”
A torrent of tears escaped her eyes as she bawled her emotions out. Seeing the ghost of her deceased savior was enough to overwhelm her with incredible guilt.
That’s when Jack noticed her right hand, one grasping flowers, the same flowers that lay next to the tombstone. Had this girl been visiting his grave daily?!
“Stop crying for a second, breathe. In, out, relax. Be strong for me, alright?” Jack murmured as he delicately wiped her tears.
At this moment, he looked as calm as a cucumber chilling in a fridge, but internally he was pretty much screaming. ’Hurry and pull yourself together!’
“T-thank you! Even dead, you’re saving me….” She sighed. “S-so, this is the afterlife? It’s surprisingly boring. Where’s YGG? What happened to—”
“Stop! Stop, stop, stop! You’re alive. Moon Moon’s alive. Everyone’s alive. But someone dear to me’s lost. Have you seen a beautiful girl with bright hair and…”
“N-not dead?! G-girl? The one with the Pumpki—”
“WOO!/YES!” (What happened to her?!)
“T-that, she entered the village—”
“Woo!/Fuck!” (This is bad!)
What if the elves subjected her to lots of impossible trials too? He had barely managed to clear them himself, and that was by using a bunch of exploits. Result —> BAD END!
Actually, how had she managed to enter another bloody hidden realm? Was this her superpower? Who knew the farm girl was a born infiltrator?
“We need to go after her!”
“W-we can’t—”
“We send her a message instead!”
“I-I don’t know how—”
“We trigger an elven alarm, so they come to us. We can do that, right?” Jack was grasping at straws, his elven partner denying every proposition with a heavy heart.
She wanted to help, but she had been banished from the village and could only shake her head.
“I’m not even sure how she managed to go inside. I didn’t help. She just managed on her own. She used magic and then….Poof!”
“The entrance portal activated?”
“No, she just disappeared, I swear! It was strange. There was a green glow, a deep voice. I tried going after her, but those things came, and…” Her entire body violently trembled.
It took Jack forever to help her calm down, her shivering finally stopping as she dived into his chest, describing what had happened to her amidst sobs.
The forest wasn’t what it once was.
Creatures had appeared out of nowhere, ones that thrived off the shadows.
Not only didn’t the elves do anything about it, but the bastards had even beat her up as she had tried warning them, calling it the crazy ramblings of a crazed human-loving Elf.
She had been alone all this time, guarding his grave. Now that she found out he was still in this world, she didn’t want to let go, wrapping her short limbs around his waist.
“Don’t worry. Everything will be alright now that I’m here.” As he reassured her, her exhaustion finally caught up to her as she abandoned herself to Morpheus.
1. Strange Shadow-Enemies
2. Elves turning a blind eye to it
3. Were they perhaps related to the issue?
4. There was only one way to know for sure.
“It’s just you and me now. Let’s see how you can resist!” Jack thundered as he bravely faced the hidden entrance to the Elven village.
With a shout, he drove bottomless dark mana toward the target, making the surrounding trees ripple from the power…yet nothing!
[The Entrance Has Been Strengthened!]
[The Elves Do Not Want to Be Disturbed…]
[Perhaps You Should Politely Knock Instead?]
Knock your ass! What kind of BS was this?! As far as he knew, their YGG priestess still wanted to kill him because she considered him “evil”. Nope, she was just a bitch!
But just as he was racking his brain trying to come up with a solution… — Lunge! — a bush suddenly jumped at them!
No, that thing wasn’t vegetation. It was…what the heck was this?!
Before them stood a bizarre monster, one half-vegetation, one half-shadow, the two blended in one disharmonious mix.
< Tortured Forest Spirit! Lv 66! 🍃🌑>
With one mighty screech, the specter charged at them, swinging sharp branch-like claws as it hungered for blood.
The two instantly counterattacked, even the puzzled Moon Moon. It wasn’t sure what they were fighting, but attacking its master had been a mistake!
— Woosh! —
The wolf fang latched on the creature’s head….or not?!
The little wolf’s attack had passed right through the enemy! It was as if the latter had no substance, yet its vegetation was visible!
That’s when it counterattacked!
— SLASH! —

That was it? The wolf sighed in relief a little too quickly…

— Panicked Wolf Noise! —
What the hell was this?! It felt like a giant mosquito was draining its blood over and over, the enemy seemingly becoming more and more corporeal.
“Quick, look at your shadow! You have to sever the link between you and it!” Jack screamed, throwing a fireball at the thing attacking Moon Moon’s shadow.
Only as the entire ground exploded did the thing reluctantly latch off. This kind of attack was so freaking challenging to guard against.
That’s when the thing turned toward Jack, angrily hissing, lunging at him!
“Woo!” (Get off him!)
The little wolf summoned a mighty fire, aiming it straight at the thing’s center. — BAM! — A shriek of pain later, the creature was sent flying back, flickering with fear.
How were these two that strong?! It felt that its strength should have been higher, yet their fire was so painful.
“Woo!” (Take this, you annoying thing!)
The little wolf went for the killing blow, but just as it was about to land it, the monster rushed toward a nearby tree and…merged with it?!
The whole tree began moving a second later, its roots slowly extending and wriggling akin to a thousand snakes.
“Woo!” (Hey, that’s cheating! It is, right?!)
It slapped a root toward them and….missed completely. It was as if a newborn was suddenly placed behind the wheel of a Ferrari; it simply couldn’t handle its new body.
“Welp, time to end this….” Jack mercilessly put the thing out of its misery with a fiery magical stream, the thing screaming in agony the whole time.
Silence returned to the clearing.
Wasn’t this a little too anticlimactic?
But just as they thought this was over, the shadows all around began wriggling. It seemed like the dying enemy had called friends, a shitload of them!
Jack could already feel their penetrating gazes toward him; they were everywhere! He was the one that had killed their brethren, and they would tear him apart for it!
They all jumped at him, some of them as fast as cheetahs.
“Tch— Let’s get out of here!” Jack urged.
But even then, they were catching up very quickly. They were like hunting dogs from hell, their distorted forms rejoicing at the upcoming feast.
“Woo!” (Go on, master. Save the Elf, and—)
Said Elf had just woken up, staring at her surroundings in horror. She was already weakly struggling to get off. She wouldn’t slow Jack anymore!
Both wanted to sacrifice themselves for him, but Jack stopped them. Not only did he not cower, but he also turned toward the creatures, barring white teeth at them.
“Hehehe. So you guys want to fight? Bring it on!” There was something he wanted to test.
They all charged at him, Jack barely moving. The creature cackled: he had “obviously” been paralyzed by fear! They happily sank their fangs into his shadow to suck it dry.

There were so many damage notifications that they instantly filled jack’s whole screen. The system almost had a hard time keeping up with it, much less Jack.
Yet he didn’t panic in the least. All he did was frown slightly as he stomped the ground once… “Wake up, you lazy bone.”
That’s when his shadow wriggled. Little did the creatures know how deep in shit they were.
The demon that resided in Jack’s shadow roused up, quickly noticing all the shadow creatures that had latched unto its dwelling place.
Was this food delivery?! It eagerly began draining from them back, the things too busy draining to defend themselves.

[Scared The Remaining One!]
[They are Confused!]
[Host is Poisonous!]
The beings hurriedly retreated, not understanding what the heck was happening. Who and exactly was this being?! How could he so easily fend them off?!
By now, a certain elf was furiously blushing in her “knight’s” embrace, not that Jack noticed. After all, everywhere he looked, new shadows were appearing…
