MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 388: Head Cultist!

Chapter 388: Head Cultist!

Blood swirling all over, cries of disbelief, tiny yelps from players realizing they’ve wetted themselves…the scene was chaotic!

Blood tornadoes.

Yes, blood motherfucking tornadoes.

All of the blood previously sacrificed was now rising in the air, the whole thing looking (and feeling) like the revival cinematic of an evil god.

At that moment, the Head Cultist’s laughter resounded as he towered atop the corpses and the destroyed buildings.

“Get wrecked!”

The madman lowered a red-glowing fist, the same color as his eyes, and the entire spell came crashing down along with the motion.

1. Run? Impossible

2. Defend? What a joke

3. Destroy it? No damn way!

4. Error 404, countermeasure missing

It fell straight toward Gargan.

The latter felt the skin on his tentacles turn cold as he drove his superhuman body to avoid the brunt of the attack. He’d have to be an idiot to take such a spell head-on and….wait, what?!

The enemy general suddenly felt his two hearts skip a beat. There was something wrong with his legs! As he lowered his eyes, he was met with an I.R.L. member’s brilliant toothless smile.

“He was called Lead.”

That was all that was said, something that many others had repeated before their demise. Yet this time, it hit different: the player using an Earth Grasp skill to turn his grip rock solid!

“Get off me, you fucking huma—”

— CRASSSHHHHH! —

Gargan was entirely engulfed by the blood (and any player nearby). The world seemingly turned red just from the vapor that emerged out of the thing, almost as if the Apocalypse.

Then everything disappeared.

It was over…. Just like that?! The big bad invincible enemy emperor gone so quickly?

The whole thing felt like a dream, perhaps a nightmare, but the disgusting smell of feces convinced many that this was reality. So many had shat themselves just feeling the spell’s aura.

“Humph, that’s what you get for messing with the Demon Lord.” The cause of it all simply shrugged as he slowly came down from his vantage point, leaving trembling bystanders.

He was actually shaking all over, even coughing blood periodically, yet the madness in his eyes and the recent display of strength were enough. Anger him? Fuck no!

The whole battlefield was now quiet.

Without waiting further, the remaining cultists all gathered around their leader, all of them quickly creating a procession, one that was returning to their Cult District.

Cleanup? It wasn’t their bloody problem! Getting loot? While they desired some, they knew it wasn’t their “god’s” will, not that they were privy to the details.

But wasn’t there something strange about the path that they were going? Had the Head Cultist leading them turned spontaneously blind, perhaps?

“A-are they going toward the Mermaid Army?!”

“N-no way! They’ll fight them?!”

“Pinch me someo— ouch!”

Before anyone could react, the cultist procession reached right in front of the Mermaid Army that was pretty much intact…besides having lost their leader.

“Move. You’re in my way.”

The Head Cultist had definitely lost his mind! He was obviously weakened and gently asking his enemies to let him through?! Preposterous!

But then they saw his gaze. The shock from losing the seemingly invincible Gargan, coupled with his pressure, was enough. One after the other, the enemies all moved out of his path.

“W-what they’re not fighting?!”

“Would you fight that dude?”

“T-that….Gulp!”

The cultist excused themselves from the scene as naturally as end credits rolled after a movie. Was everything over? Not quite, for after the pause came the post-ending scene.

The battlefield was instantly reignited.

Shame at all the fear they had felt, fury against the enemies, and most importantly, lots and lots of greed….it all exploded all at once!

“Kill those fishes!”

“The strong humans are gone! Kill the weaklings!”

“Loot! Glory! Massage from your favorite Idol! Fight!”

Both groups charged at one another, players versus monsters, with Jack’s NPC subordinates fanning the flames safely from the back.

Both parties collided together.

In came all the emotions and the lives, only bloody shredded flesh coming out. It was a freaking meat-grinder…and yet the cultists were itching to go back in.

They couldn’t help but wish to join in the action as they saw the gore flying all over the place. Sadly, their leader wouldn’t allow it for a reason even he wasn’t sure of.

– Head-Cultist: Master, this lowly one begs you to enlighten this one’s lowly self. Why shan’t our people be allowed to rampage and display your magnificence?

The man that had terrorized an entire battlefield and killed an emperor (self-proclaimed) was meekly biting his lower lip anxiously as he sent messages.

No, anxious was an understatement. He looked more stressed than a virgin declaring his love to his crush for the first time.

“L-leader?”

“Shhh— He’s asking for divine guidance!”

But as soon as the message came, the Head Cultist’s face couldn’t help but change. He hurriedly picked up the pace, seemingly fleeing to safety and puzzling everyone.

Jack’O: Gargan dead? Fool! His “corpse” just disappeared, right? He’ll be back, and you don’t want to be anywhere near him when he does. Understood?

It wasn’t just a casual statement. It was a goddamn prophecy!

In the back, gleeful screams resounded as the humans traded their lives to kill and loot the various aquatic creatures. Everything was smooth sailing, a little too smooth perhaps…

“Grab as many items as you can!”

“Bastards, strop trying to killsteal me!”

“Shut up and focus on killing! Remember, the system’s watching! Just—”

That’s when the ground rumbled. No, it didn’t just rumble. It was downright the start of an earthquake! Then a large face suddenly erupted from the earth, soon followed by a powerful-looking body.

It was Gargan.

He looked half-dead, but nevertheless OP.

By escaping underground, he had survived the previous Burst of Blood Magic, and now he was back….2000% angrier than before!

“Humans, all will die!”

“Your Cities, your loved ones, your damn guilds….”

“I’ll destroy it all! None will even dare to remember your existence!”

But that wasn’t all. He also silently gestured toward his troops. Countless had died, but many of the Noble Mermaids still remained, plenty to spam healing spells in fact.

What now?!?!…
