MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 392: Humans Are Worthless!

Chapter 392: Humans Are Worthless!

— Gulp! —

As they drove their axes into the ancestral bark, nervous players eyed their surroundings with great wariness. CHOP!

“You sure there won’t be a beast tide?”

“Obviously, just trust in our leader!” The D.L. members quickly reassured their colleagues, utterly oblivious to Jack’s thoughts.

A beast tide? This would be the least of their worries, his new plan being akin to unleashing an atomic bomb upon themselves.

Still, there was something odd happening. Where the hell were the shadowy creatures that had attacked him and Moon Moon earlier?

He could vaguely sense them hiding. Were they scared of him, or were they simply bidding their time for the perfect ambush?

He couldn’t help but feel uneasy… yet it didn’t change anything. He NEEDED to pry open the elven village’s entrance to find Pumpkin Girl.

“You guys keep going. I’ll be right back.” On that note, Jack went for a quick walk only to return to the lumber camp with a scheming smile.

This time he confidently gestured for them to keep going.

— CHOP! CHOP! CHOP! —

He gestured for them to keep going even as the trees started wailing as if pleading with them to stop.

He gestured for them to keep going even as the trees began gushing a brilliant bluish sap akin to godly blood.

He gestured for them to keep going even as the clearing started rumbling, the entire forest seemingly protesting against the crazy logging enterprise.

[Warning! This System Doesn’t Recommend—]

“Ignore it. It’s just trying to scare you all.”

He gestured for them to keep going until….

With one last axe swing, the entrance to the Elven village wasn’t just pried open; it was cut down entirely. What was once a beautiful tree arch was instantly ruined.

— CRASH! Rumble, rumble, rumble! —

That’s when IT appeared.

The space distorted, revealing a golden barrier.

[The Elven Village Has Been Forcibly Summoned!]

[Welcome to the Elven Village! (Not that you are Welcomed…)]

“Wha—”Baffled players felt as confused as excited. What kind of crazy secret had they unknowingly stumbled upon? Elves! Real Elves?!

Yes, they were real elves, LOTS of them too. Their flabbergasted expressions were an incredible delight, especially given their model-like facial features.

They stared at the humans, then at the fallen ancestral trees, then back at the humans… that’s when the reality of the situation finally dwelled on them.

“M-monsters! What have you done?!”

“Noooo, mister tree!!! How dare they?! Beasts!”

“Y-you! It’s you! You’re that detestable human! How are you still alive?! I killed you!” A loud bellow resounded. It came from a certain elven YGG priestess.

Her beautiful face was distorted into a mix between disbelief and hatred. This being was one that she desired to destroy from the very bottom of her heart. She clenched her teeth as she growled:

“You…”

“You corrupted our princess….”

“You stole our guardian beast….”

“You brought the Evil Witch to our door….”

“You’re the root of the evil invading our land….”

The more she stated, the more confused Jack was getting. What was up with that list of sins?! As far as he knew, he hadn’t done that much harm just yet, right? Besides, they had struck first!

By now, the elves were oozing with so much killing intent that it was palpable, the pressure making the poor players want to disappear. They began regretting following Jack.

Sadly, there was no time for regret…

“KILL THEM ALL!”

A sea of elves swarmed toward the humans.

Their movements were so fast and graceful in their deadliness…not that anyone present was in the mood to appreciate it.

— Slash! Twang! Bzzzt! —

The first contact was bloody. No, it was worse than that. The long-eared killers appeared like simple gardeners, cutting weeds and watering the vegetation…with blood!

“W-what the heck did you do to anger them?!”

“Please! Please! Please, just— ARGGG!”

“AHHHH! We’re all gonna die!”

The players’ screams only excited the elves even more: “Hehe, this is what an inferior race gets for challenging us. Your kind isn’t even fit to serve as nutrients to our forest!”

The elves’ tone was so haughty that many players couldn’t help but hurl in disgust. Such arrogance! Were they really going to die to bastards like them?!

“All going to die, was it? Afraid that’s not the plan….” Jack’s calm voice came from the back. Why did he sound so confident? Did he have a trick up his sleeve?!

That’s when the priestess’ nervously gazed at the dark thicket. “It’s a trap!” She tried warning her people.

Whatever crimes the elves thought Jack had done, there was going to be one more. He chuckled as he raised his hand high up, signaling toward the darkness.

Out of the shade appeared the shadowy creatures that Jack had encountered before, the same ones he had “happened” to encounter on his last walk.

“It’s time for a feast!”

The monsters rushed toward the elves as mosquitoes would toward blood. The elves had finally come out of their shell, and they weren’t about to miss such an opportunity!

The two armies clashed.

Dozens and dozens of extremely powerful elves VS hundreds of strange shadows.

But as the confrontation started, the humans’ hopes were shattered as they saw how easily the elves’ magic was dealing with the shadows. One well-placed Sunfire ray was enough to exorcise many creatures at once.

“We’re doomed. They’re gonna lose!”

“Quick, leader, we have to retreat at once!”

D.L. encouraged Jack to return to town, many placing themselves to cover for him. They’d buy him enough time to return and get reinforcements….or at least escape with his life.

“Pfft— Are you guys really part of my faction? Even the goblin’s girl has more eyesight than you all.” Jack didn’t retreat, nor did he panic.

What?! The players gazed at him in wonder, expecting yet another reversal. Was he going to summon another army out of nowhere? Did he have a formation ready, perhaps?

Jack simply stayed still, watching “his” shadows disappearing, arms crossed. How was he so confident? By now, the shadows were almost gone.

Actually, the monsters seemed to be respawning, but the rate they were returning was painfully slow. Soon they wouldn’t be able to protect the humans anymore.

After all, it had taken 300 hundred shadows to take down five elves in total….

Yet there was something strange with the elves’ reaction. Why did they seem horrified? This should have been a great victory, no?

The leader of each side shared a glance.

Jack VS Elven Priestess

He was as cool as a cucumber. She was sweaty all over.

He not only looked her straight in the eyes but even playfully winked at her while mouthing, “Will you try to kill me again?”

The elves could have easily pushed through and massacred the remaining humans, yet their reaction was completely different.

The priestess finally couldn’t take it…

“Retreat! Go back to the village!” She urged her troops, the elves quickly returning to safety, closing the golden barrier behind them.

The silence was overwhelming, the players utterly confused. “What the heck happened here?! Why did they retreat?!” One finally asked, baffled, all awaiting Jack’s response.

“Hehe, it’s all a matter of perspective….To them, humans are worthless. Losing five immortals is already a decisive blow….” He chuckled.

“Here’s an idea, why don’t we show them how worthless humanity can be? How about we use their magical wood to rebuild Sprigfield? How about we conquer this place?”

Why did this sound like step one of world domination?! Then again, as expected of the Demon King…
