Chapter 416: Fallen Lizard Girl!
Chapter 416: Fallen Lizard Girl!
Splashing in kid’s blood…
That’s how Jack began his day! Well, that and arguing.
[Recording Blocked: Scene Too Gruesome!]
[Please Stop Trying to Record It!]
“C’mon, loosen up a bit. I’m just a friendly uncle trying to immortalize an important moment in this sweet girl’s life!” He disarmingly said, the system not falling for it.
Sweet girl?! Was he talking about the one enthusiastically jumping amidst her “friend’s” corpses? Or perhaps the one even more happily singing about them getting what they deserved? She would have made a horror movie look like a cheesy romance!
And yet, Jack was so adamant….
[Ding! Recorded BUT Will Apply Censorship!]
[Have Fun Preserving The M-Memories!]
“Thanks System, sure will!”
With this, Jack’s grin only got larger.
After all, he had come here to find anything that could help him fight against the girl outside. As for recording it? To him, this was merely saving evidence!
But that was merely the start. Now, if he truly wanted to accomplish anything, he’d have to dive way deeper. He’d have to find all the hidden secrets and all the easter eggs.
He glanced at the young lizard girl still splashing about eagerly.
“Enough. It’s time to go home.” For an instant, she seemed about to protest, but then she suddenly nodded before turning around… only to freeze.
Jack’s piercing gaze rested on her.
’Aren’t you forgetting something?’ He seemed to say.
At first, there was only confusion, then shock, and finally realization. Then again, his gaze was very expressive: ’You mess something up, you fix it,’ and in this case, it was the corpses.
Leave those right here in the thicket next to the Town? This was a surefire way to be arrested, executed, and possibly desecrated! He gestured for her to get to work.
Work? How was she even supposed to do that?
Jack simply pointed at her sharp claws.
[Ding! Using Child Labor Efficiently!]
[Slave Driver Passive Ranking UP!]
[Lizzy Became Your Follower!]
He watched as she dug graves…
He watched as she buried them all…
He watched as she overworked herself…
“Good! Now you can return home. You know what to do.”
She gave him a puzzled look but complied anyway. And as soon as she was gone, Jack actually got to work. She had barely gone away when he ruthlessly destroyed all she had done.
The buried corpses? He got them out.
The remains? He burned them all to ashes.
As for the holes, he filled them back up as if new… or almost. He had added something extra, a surprise, one could say.
[Successfully Destroyed Crime Scene!]
[Still, Why Have Her Pointlessly Do It?]
“Why? Accountability, that’s why…”
Jack didn’t linger around and left, expecting what would come next. As for what that was? One could only call it CHAOS! In fact, the system happily kept him informed of it all.
[A Certain Lizard Girl is Distressed!]
She had just returned home, and he could be certain she was getting beaten for showing such a disgusting appearance again. Blood, dirt, and destroyed clothes were unacceptable.
[A Certain Lizard Girl is Anxious!]
It didn’t take long for the Town’s people to put two and two together. Their kids had gone to play in the morning and had never returned. As for the only one alive, it was Lizzy!
In a matter of hours, they had already crowded at the Regen Family and were sieging it, hoping for answers. In fact, even Jack saw the crowd from a distance.
[A Certain Lizard Girl is Terrified!]
[A Certain Lizard Girl Failed to Resist Torture!]
[A Certain Lizard Girl Feels Endless Regret Already!]
There, it began. That’s when Jack crossed his fingers. She had failed to resist their questioning, but how much had she told? He was about to find out very quickly.
A crowd gathered in the thicket next to the town, precisely where their kids were buried! Then began the most intense and stressful unboxing video as they overturned the earth.
Bones? There were none…
At the bottom, they found a treasure chest instead!
One filled with countless tiny messages, each as powerful as the last.
< From Today Onward We Are Adventurers! >
< We’ve Gone on a Journey! Don’t Look for us! >
< We’re done playing with Lizzy. We’ll hunt monsters! >
< …. >
Every message was extremely short and amateurish yet oozed resolve. Then there were the more personal ones, some with information NONE but their family could possibly know.
“That, it’s from my son for sure!”
“Ah?! So when Lizzy said they’re buried here…”
“Little girl, did you mean those messages?! But why?!”
[A Certain Lizard Girl is Shocked, but Nodding Nonetheless!]
And that’s when they all understood. That’s when it all made sense. The night before, many of the kids had been especially excited and eager. How long had they been planning this?!
Perhaps they would never know, but that didn’t matter right now! No, they had to find their kids! After all, the wilderness was rough and ruthless. Were they still alive?!
[Ding! Successfully Tricked the Townspeople!]
[A Certain Lizard Girl is Shaken to Her Core!]
[A Certain Lizard Girl is Confused!]
To her, it looked like a miracle. She had left a sloppy crime scene, failed to resist questioning, had admitted her crimes in a barely understandable crying mess, yet had come back to this?!
But that’s when she knew…
HE had done it!
HE had saved her!
HE had made it happen.
[Lizzy’s Affinity Rose UP!]
And thus was the beginning of darkness.
That was the moment Jack truly became her mentor, one who was bound to subvert an internal realm that should have been stagnant, for it reflected the past.
When she showed up the next morning, there was none of the usual despair. “Mister, what should we do today? I’ll listen to you for sure! Anything!” She happily professed.
Anything? Jack sure loved the sound of that! This was akin to a blank check.
In fact, a certain Demon King took her plea VERY literally.
“Alright, listen well. Here’s what you’ll do…”
