MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 427: Legendary Quest?!

Chapter 427: Legendary Quest?!

It was a slaughter…

[Obtained 10 Life Energy!]

[Obtained 10 Life Energy!]

[Obtained 10 Life Energy!]

But this time Jack wouldn’t stop.

Every time he felt his claws rip his enemies, every time blood splashed all over his scales, and every time he heard the cries of despair from the crowd, Jack increased the slaughter rate. All until…

[Ding! You’ve Killed 666 Newborns Alone!]

[A Certain Scaly God Has Taken Notice!]

[Receive His Blessing?]

Jack swatted it away.

KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! Who cared about the System?! There were still newborns left! There was still prey to be devoured. Blood would flow, lives would end, and despair would spread!

By now they had already stopped fighting back. Even he wasn’t sure when it had happened, but they were simply running away now. But that didn’t matter for he would crush them all and— CLANG!

Jack had been chasing one when he suddenly stopped?!

Right before him, there was now a wall of radiant green light, one that shamelessly blocked his way. Raising his head, there was an entire magical boundary separating him from the other youngsters?!

For an instant, he felt pure confusion.

His prey was right there, so why couldn’t he reach it?! But then his bloodlust flared up again. So what if there was a shitty barrier in his way?! KILL! CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Every time he smashed the barrier, the Newborns shook in their scales. They who had been crying in relief were now crying in terror with every slash. Jack had long become their worst nightmare!

And every time he glared at them….

[A Newborn Bit Its Tongue From Stress!]

[A Newborn Forgot How to Breathe!]

[A Newborn’s Heart Stopped!]

Seeing this, the crowd was getting heated up more than ever. There was a difference between showing one`s dominance and going on a mindless fratricide!

“This is crazy! Killing so many’s gotta be illegal!”

“Even now, it’s attacking Lord Tan’Hos barrier?!”

“That little bastard’s rabid. Put it down!”

“Should we? But it’s so strong!”

They all turned their eyes toward a certain Shaman, one who suddenly felt like he had lived a couple hundred years for nothing. What the hell was all this?! How could a Newborn be that crazy?!

Had the Soul Ceremony gone awry?!

Had a Soul hijacked the newborn instead?!

Had it all been a ploy to destroy the Ceremony?!

But then he glared at Jack, all his doubts going away. This was a lizard through and through. No other species could possibly be THAT comfortable in a lizard’s body, no matter how adaptable.

No, at that moment he knew. This was 100% a lizard, one that could be their future!

With a champion that bloodthirsty at their forefront was there anything that could even stop them?! Still, that was merely a start. If he didn’t learn to control this power, then he’d be useless.

No, worse than useless, he’d have to be disposed of. No, not just disposed of, extinguished: this power was that great. Either he would exploit it or make it disappear from this world.

That’s when he rose a mighty claw toward the sky…

“I’ve made my decision! The youngster’s fate shall be to—”

RAWR! He was suddenly stopped by the cutest and yet most terrifying roar of all time, a black tiny lizard having finally found the source of the barrier, Shaman and Jack exchanging a gaze.

Time seemed to stop as they somehow understood one another?! That tiny gaze wasn’t just a look, but a promise. ’I will tear you apart’ that’s what those glowing eyes of his meant!

And for the first time in centuries, a certain Shaman… actually trembled?!

This gaze was madness, and yet it was akin to a prophecy.

At this moment, he somehow knew. It WOULD happen.

Use as a weapon for the Lizardmen? He stopped entertaining any thought of it. This thing had to die! With a mighty wave of his claw, the Shaman generated a spear of magical energy.

The spell crackled with so much power that the Arena started crumbling.

So much power that a few spectators lost consciousness.

So much power that even he scared himself.

And yet those fucking eyes wouldn’t stop glaring at him! Those fucking eyes wouldn’t stop promising him death! Those shitty eyes wouldn’t stop bullying him?!

Just like that, it was time to end it all. It was time to…

[Ding! A certain Scaly God is Intervening!]

[L-Legendary Quest?! ERROR! ERROR!]

[Ding! Save all or kill all? Pick one!]

In the Arena, Jack frowned. Another shitty System message? He swatted it away, right not he had to kill that shitty lizard shaman in the stands! He had to murder the bastard to remove the boundary!

But no matter how much he waved, the annoying message stayed?! For the first time since his rampage, Jack actually read, if only to make the damn thing go away.

Save all? Kill all? The choice was obvious! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL!…Or not? For some reason, he couldn’t get himself to press it, a certain lizard flashed before his eyes. She’d have to die too?

It might have just been a dream, but he still enjoyed having her follow after him like a puppy with that bright smile of hers. And that he couldn’t accept. For the first time, his red eyes flickered.

Then a claw landed on a certain option with more power than a truck.

[Selected: Save All! Congrats on Betraying Humanity!]

[A Certain Scaly God Rejoices at Your Choice!]

[Ding! Obtained Scaly God’s Curse!]

That’s when everything changed.

The world ruptured, a gigantic illusory claw appearing out of thin air just to brush against Jack, an intricate glowing magical pattern appearing on his scales all the while spectating lizards falling to their knees.

Even a certain Shaman gawked in shock, losing control of his magic. This was…. Their God?! Scaly himself had intervened?!

But then it got even weirder than that. He hadn’t given a blessing, but a curse?! What the fuck was wrong with that?! Yet, it wasn’t his place to question his god. It was time to end it all.

“The Feast Comes to an End. Everyone, get your Hatchling back, and prepare them for what’s to come, for this year’s training will be deadly!”

With this, Newborns escaped from the Arena in a flash, a single one left in there, one that showed, mad eyes even now. Yet, now he seemed to be searching for something?!

Jack had just sacrificed so much to get his lizard slave back, and he wasn’t about to forget her! As if a hurricane, he found her, freed her, and finally collapsed from exhaustion.

But as she opened her sleepy eyes, a scream escaped her.

“W-What the hell?! Don’t tell me you’re?!”

Jack had changed so much…
