MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 434: Mass Suicide Time!

Chapter 434: Mass Suicide Time!

Jack had obtained an army…

But it was the most pitiful one ever! The Newborns had agreed to follow him, and yet their ’resolve’ was already faltering. Jack had barely enlisted them when it happened.

All it took was a single creature to roar and:

“Eeekkkkkkkkkkk!”

“Ahhhhhhhhh!”

“Nooooooo!”

….

They all started crying!

The creatures weren’t even near them either.

The enemies simply growled and eyed them from a distance while sticking to their territory. Still, that was enough to cause a stir in Jack’s ’army’. They sure had a long way to go!

[Ding! Successfully Created Child Soldier Army!]

[Good Luck With the Rest! You’ll Need It!]

[New Title: Morally Bankrupt!]

Jack scoffed, addressing them.

“First, the next one that cries gets to die! Understood?”

YES! They plugged their mouths with their shaky hands, focusing all their attention on him, worried he was going to kill them regardless!

“Good, finally some peace. Now, I do realize why you’re scared. Hunting might actually be a little more than you all can handle so…”

Would he actually show mercy? A glint of hope flashed across their eyes. They’d FAR rather fight themselves for the few safe spots than go anywhere near or with him!

But they were bound to be disappointed…

“…I’ll train you with my special technique! Ah, and for those that fail, I have the perfect grilled lizard recipe, so your failure won’t go to waste!”

What the actual fuck?!

(;゚Д゚)(´д`)

“….”

E-Eat them?! Wasn’t that way against the rules?! But while they were shellshocked, Jack had already gotten things started, tracing a field in the volcanic rocks.

“Now, let’s begin already! See those lines? It’s time for some suicide drills! They’ll leave you worse than dead, and it’s perfect!” Jack dramatically announced.

As for the lizards, they were already gulping in fright! S-Suicide Drills?! Was that why some lines were right next to the Lava?! Would he ask them to jump in?!

As countless thoughts swirled inside their tiny heads, Jack actually demonstrated, showing by example. “Alright, watch attentively. Here’s what you want to do. Just like this…”

That’s when he started running.

He sprinted, reached a line, touched it, and came back.

But that’s when they realized he was only getting started.

As if a cat on cocaine, Jack kept zooming all across the Subterranean Realm. Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. He just kept doing it endlessly, or so it seemed.

But then he finally stopped as if an Olympian athlete done with his set, his scales glowing in the soft light. He then turned toward them with a smile.

“Easy, right? Now it’s your turn!”

Wait, that was it?! Wasn’t this a little too easy?!

Sensing their disbelief, Jack frowned. Too easy for you all? Guess I could revamp it to add a couple of life-threatening traps and—” Never mind they were already going.

As a couple started running, the others didn’t lag too much behind. If he wanted them to run, then they would run! This was a small price to pay to avoid a confrontation for sure.

Seeing this, Jack couldn’t help but grin.

He could already picture the invincible army that he would soon have! And it all started with a training regiment that even suspicious Shit-Tok fitness gurus knew about!

While it looked simple, it actually wasn’t.

“That’s it. Keep those knees high!”

“No dragging your feet!”

“Increase the pace!”

“Do more laps!”

….

Jack kept ’encouraging’ them.

The more he did, the more they struggled. Sure the exercise was easy, but it didn’t take long for Jack to perfectly assess their physical and mental limits, driving them to the very edge.

And it didn’t help one bit that the creatures would often play along to give them jump-scares with their roars, making their hearts jump out of their chests every time!

Thus it kept going, the poor Newborns finally understanding.

Suicide Drills? The name was incredibly fitting!

They were so tired and dying so tempting!

But every time they were about to give up and/or rebel, they’d glance at the side, Jack having created the perfect BBQ setup and giving them a bright smile.

Hell, every time one would slow down he’d warm up his grill as if getting ready for a snack. Then when they eventually regained pace, he looked so disappointed.

They now LIVED for his disappointed face.

Looking down on them? No fucking way in hell!

Screw that guy! Screw that guy! Screw that fucking guy!

But they weren’t just fueled by hate. A part of them didn’t want to lose either. All this time they had been reduced to background characters. Now they would show their resolve!

They ran.

They ran some more.

They ran their fears and anger away.

They ran until a couple of them suddenly came back to their senses, their bodies trembling in grim realization, especially as they finally noticed Jack’s scheming grin.

This guy… he wasn’t training them.

The whole Hunting thing? It was utter bullshit!

He had simply been toying with them all this fucking time.

All the effort and energy they had spent? They had shot themselves in the foot, only weakening themselves in the process! But little did they know they were EVOLVING!

All they had done was run, but the pacing had been perfect to drive them to their limits while giving them LOTS of time to think for themselves.

Sensing this, Jack could almost picture their Status…

[Ding! Newborn is Actually Evolving?!]

[Ding! Newborn Learned Resolve?!]

[Ding! Newborn is Thinking!]

Probably something like that.

Probably— That’s when he felt it. Was that killing intent?! It seemed to come from the Newborns. They who had been broken and beaten before were suddenly showing a spine.

Hell, there were already a couple that had started scheming against him. They’d try to hide it, but they were so young and clearly lacked that kind of experience.

That’s when they went 200 IQ moment, or so they believed.

Many kept the lowest pace not to stand out yet conserve their energy. They were getting ready for a decisive strike, and not just a couple of them either!

A rebellion brewing, was it? Talk about interesting!

Jack already couldn’t wait…
