“There’s more?!”
That had been a few hours ago.
Jack actually didn’t explain, he just showed them! And before long…
All around, the youngsters’ cries of agony resonated. What had started as a simple and easy running exercise had already turned into what could only be considered a nightmare!
Just listening to them would have sent chills down anyone’s spine.
“No more, boss! I can’t handle it anymore!”
“I’m burning! I’m on fire! Helppppp!”
“At this rate, we’re all dead!!!”
Fire, screams, and lots of blood.
Jack was akin to a cursed ghost as he rampaged against them.
At first, they had just been running, but now he had added LOTS of challenges! They had to keep going while avoiding a bunch of stuff: fireballs, claw slashes, and even traps?!
Jack hadn’t spared anything, he was going all out to make them worthy hunters! As for actually hunting anything? They sadly weren’t ready for that just yet.
Step 1 Train Their Stamina
Step 2 Train Their Nerves!
Step 3 Train Dodging!
Jack kept a close eye on them all.
Yet even as he did, there were a few incidents. The training was so intense that a few just couldn’t keep up no matter what. As for the result of that:

Yet the Newborns simply stepped over the fallen as they kept training.
They had seen that crazy lizard kill so many of them by now that they were already growing numb to it! In fact, they were so traumatized that they didn’t even dare complain about it.
This was especially true as Jack looked even crazier than usual as he seemed to fight with empty air?! He even kept clicking his tongue as tons of messages filled his vision.

“System, that one’s not on me!”
He would contest every death as if the shadiest lawyer to ever exist. “This one died from fall damage. That one died from exhaustion. That one was stomped alive. I didn’t kill them!”
He kept berating the system, the poor thing having to open countless tickets to verify the veracity of his claims! And just like that Jack managed to argue his way out of a couple of curses.
But, in the end, a couple DID stick:

How was he supposed to get rid of those debuffs? Should he try to exorcise them or was it simpler to use the “enslave other species” part to regain what he had lost instead?
Either way, he had sacrificed himself for those bastards, so they better not let him down! He gave them such a heated gaze that many almost collapsed. And that’s when he went even further.
“You guys are faster, not as wimpy, but there is still one thing remaining.”
One thing? He had taught them to run and dodge so would he teach them to fight for real now? Many couldn’t help but actually feel excited, surprised by their own eagerness.
That’s when Jack grabbed a couple of sturdy rocks and planted them!
He hammered them in the ground until only the very tip was out!
Why it it suddenly look like a sea of ancient pillars?
Chuckling, Jack gestured toward it all.
“The last part of your training starts here. See those pillars? All you have to do is stand on them on one leg and stay still. That shouldn’t be too hard even for you guys, right?”
Puzzled, they nonetheless complied, not daring to offend him. But then a few seconds later, things became quite silly as Jack guided them through VERY ridiculous-looking exercises.
“Stay on one leg, and hop in place!”
“Move around like you’re swimming!”
“Twist your bodies and shake your tails!”
….
What the hell was all this?! But then…
“Good. NOW DODGE!”
Out of nowhere, he started throwing fireballs! At their heads, at their limbs, and sometimes both at once. Hell, Jack even emitted killing intent to make it all feel more than real!
The poor lizards instantly were in a crisis! But luckily for them, the training from earlier was paying off, many dodging by reflex! Just like that they survived the onslaught… only to faceplant!
Dodging was one thing, but doing so while keeping their balance? Now that was an entirely different beast! And that would be what they’d need to master ASAP!
“Well, that’s a start, but let’s keep going shall we…”
Kept going? Jack totally abused them!
It reached a point where even the nearest fiery behemoth seemed to feel bad for them! In fact, it was lurking right next to the safe zone, ready to hug their sorrow away… with its teeth!
No, to be honest, the beasts weren’t taking it too well.
— ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! ROAR! —
But what else but roar could they do? Nothing! Knowing this, the Newborns focused entirely on their tasks, even forgetting the outside world. Yet, the more Jack watched the more he frowned.
“This is still too easy. That’s just not stimulating enough…”
He had barely remarked that many Newborns started shaking. Not stimulating enough?! He was actually saying that WHILE throwing fireballs their way! What kind of silly concept was this?!
As for raising the stakes? Jack knew the perfect way to do it!
He quickly got to work, soon appreciating the outcome.
In a river of lava now stood volcanic rock pillars?!
“B-Boss, you can’t be serious?!”
“These are way too narrow!”
“That’s impossible!”
“Impossible?” All Jack did was frown, and they suddenly rushed toward the pillars. Close to no footing? A fiery abyss underneath them? A magical volley that would soon come?
It was nothing compared to his wrath! And before long…

Was he actually doing it on purpose?! Many couldn’t help but cry in their hearts as a bunch fell straight into the lava, never to be seen again! But soon a crazy scene appeared.
Instead of going hysteric, they had accepted their fate and soon appeared as serene as actual monks?! There was definitely something wrong with them.

“Hehe, so what? It’s the plan!” Jack chuckled.
He actually couldn’t wait to be done with this and to hunt the creatures! He’d carve a path of blood in this new realm with his army, enjoying the hell out of it!
As for evolution? It was still at the back of his mind…
