MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 442: Changing History Itself!

Chapter 442: Changing History Itself!

This was an Evolution Statue?!

Even Jack couldn’t help but be shell-shocked.

A world of green crackling energy awaited him, the Mana already inching closer to him as if alive. And as soon as the energy realized it had a visitor, it got to work.

[Ding! Welcome to the Evolution Space!]

The Green Mana suddenly went through an upheaval, as it spread all across this universe! It filled every nook and cranny of it, and then it started an incredible show!

“T-This… System, make sure you record this!”

Before his eyes, HISTORY happened!

The green energy took the shape of a landscape; the volcanic caves he had seen ever since coming here were nowhere to be found. No, that scenery was full of life, as if… Infinite?!

Yes, this was definitely the world he had come from!

But instead of humans, there were Lizardmen all over, their scales glowing in the radiant sun as they tended to their fields, ones full of luscious-looking apples!

Life seemed easy, simple, and fulfilling… but then it all went to shit! Some more green Mana took shape, this time showing pointy-eared figures invading the farms.

And before his eyes, a massacre happened.

Elves versus Lizardmen, the latter not standing a chance. The elves didn’t even bother fighting, they simply used magic to animate the apple trees to kill their foes.

Blue blood overflowed all over, so much of it that the green fields almost turned a weird blue. And then it got even worse, countless similar scenes appearing.

Death, slaughter, despair…

Farm after farm was overtaken…

Until the lizards finally broke down…

Did they exist in this world just to suffer? Why couldn’t they be left alone? But complaining wouldn’t do anything. There was no point in doing so. And that’s when the scene changed.

Once-happy lizards now chopping down their own orchards and turning them into ashes. The elves could control plants? Then they’d get rid of them all. And they’d fight back!

The lizards took arms and fought to defend their lands, only to lose once more, their blue blood painting the land completely. After all, soft-scaled lizards didn’t stand a chance at all!

Jack watched all the glowing figures die one after the other.

Families, friends, even pets. They lost it all to the madness.

At this point, he had an inkling of what was to come.

The scene changed to a lone lizard in a field of death. All around him were fallen lizards, their bodies wrecked beyond recognition as he cursed heaven endlessly.

His tiny lizard mouth could be seen moving endlessly:

“Curse this world, curse this shitty place!”

“Why can’t we just be left alone?”

“We just wanted to live…”

Blue tears of blood seeped out of his eyes, creating a puddle next to his fallen brethren’s corpses. Sighing, he grabbed a fallen but sharp scythe, resolved to end it all.

But just as he was about to end it all…

𝖂𝖍𝖞? 𝕭𝖈𝖆𝖚𝖘 𝖞𝖔𝖚’𝖗 𝖜𝖆𝖐

𝖂𝖍𝖞? 𝕭𝖈𝖆𝖚𝖘 𝖞𝖔𝖚’𝖗 𝖜𝖆𝖐

𝖂𝖍𝖞? 𝕭𝖈𝖆𝖚𝖘 𝖞𝖔𝖚’𝖗 𝖜𝖆𝖐

“Who’s this?! Who’s there?!” The tiny figure screamed, not understanding what was happening, but Jack who had been watching intently saw it happen in real time.

The tears of blood?

The suffering of an entire species?

Their despair and their rage, especially their rage.

It had all condensed together to create a miracle! The blood rippled, and then it gave birth to a tiny scaly snake that looked harmless, yet overflowed with magical power!

The despair of a race that couldn’t use magic had given birth to a new being?! And this one was filled with hate, but even more purpose. And this purpose would use the weak lizard.

𝕿𝖍𝖞’𝖑𝖑 𝖐𝖕 𝖙𝖗𝖆𝖒𝖕𝖑𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖞𝖔𝖚

𝕿𝖍𝖞’𝖑𝖑 𝖐𝖕 𝖙𝖆𝖐𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖋𝖗𝖔𝖒 𝖞𝖔𝖚

𝕿𝖍𝖞’𝖑𝖑 𝖐𝖕 𝖙𝖆𝖐𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖎𝖙 𝖆𝖑𝖑, 𝖚𝖓𝖑𝖘𝖘….

In this voice the despairing lizard found reason. Everything was because it was weak. It didn’t want to be weak anymore. They’d keep taking, was it? Yes, unless he grew stronger!

And that’s when the scene changed once more, the weak tiny lizard going on a journey, reaching for the remaining happy-go-lucky lizard settlements.

Most had merely heard of the elves, not knowing their time was counted.

His brethren’s remaining orchards? He burned them!

His own weak scales? He burned them too!

His naivety too got burned all the same.

“Why?!” They kept asking.

Because they were weak. Because they’d lose them eventually anyway. Why wait for the dream to shatter? He’d turn the dream into a nightmare, and pull their enemies in it!

And thus the Lizardmen were born. And in the blink of an eye, happy-go-lucky farming lizards turned into self-burning machines of destruction… because they had to.

And the scene quickly changed one last time.

Elves attacking an unsuspecting orchard, their laugh resounding all over. “Let’s kill those fools that dare to enslave nature! We’ll make them pay—” except there was no orchard.

Scorched earth, druid magic unusable.

Bloodthirsty lizards that had been ready.

Lizards happily slaughtering their elven invaders.

And as the battle ended, the lizards lay there, victorious yet crying tears of blood. They had won, but at what cost? Their fields were gone, many had fallen, and—

Ripple! Ripple! Ripple!

What should have been a scene of despair suddenly rippled, a certain Newborn lizard interrupting the show. This was merely a recollection, and yet Jack stopped it all.

At this moment, he felt for those poor lizards.

He knew loss far better than anyone else.

But there was something wrong here!

“This feeling of defeat.”

“This feeling of righteous anger.”

“This feeling of sheer helplessness…”

Not on his watch! And that’s when Jack gathered ALL his Mana! Making a claw with his hand, he suddenly grasped toward the green energy, reaching to change History!

The ever-despairing Lizardmen? In the original timeline, they would have kept despairing, suffering, and fighting. Not on his fucking watch! He suddenly changed it all!

Akin to a god, he rewrote the entire fucking thing!

Instead of burning all orchards, he kept a few.

Instead of killing all elves, he kept a few.

Instead of starving lizards, a feast!

As Jack manipulated the recollection, a tiny figure that looked just like him appeared in the scene, bringing them back HOPE! And to the elves, he brought the craziest ultimatum.

“Pointy ears, the choice is simple. Teach us druid magic, or get devoured!”

A few orchards wouldn’t do anything good, but what if they learned druid magic, then they’d be able to regrow them easily! As for the belligerent elves, they’d fill their bellies!

Under his careful management, the despairing scene turned into a happy one. Not only did the lizards recover, but they even began thriving amongst other races?

Hell, toward the end a few humans even appeared to trade with them, everyone happy. And even as Lizardmen got banished, that single orchard remained standing!

Banish them? They had long become the overlords of their region. Still, what was the point of it all? A certain System couldn’t help but chime in, perplexed.

[Host, this is merely a simulation. Changing it Won’t—]

“Won’t affect anything? Check again!”

Jack gave the most mysterious smile as he rebutted the System. Anyone else might have believed that earlier scene as lore, but he knew better: it was brainwashing!

The Newborn lizards would see this, and feel anger toward the world. Their sole purpose would be to make this shitty world pay, but now it would change drastically.

All across the Evolution Subspaces:

“Kill them all! Those bastards should all die!”

“Wait, it’s changing? One orchard actually survived?!”

“There’s such a thing? Who knew humans were actually nice!”

“Avenging’s fun, but we need to find this village as soon as possible!”

…..

What should have been a brainwashing moment full of despair and righteous anger had them dream instead. That one village seemed like Paradise on Earth!

Happy Lizards, endless juicy apples, power, and wealth! They still wanted to conquer Infinite, but not for the same reason. Not out of fury, but to find this dream-like place!

The difference was subtle, and yet it caused insane ripples.

[Host Has Successfully Affected Other’s Evolution!]

[Newborn Lizardmen Are Now Filled With Hope!]

[Messed With Scaly’s Design?!]

Jack gave a satisfied sigh.

“Hope’s good.”

It was such a simple sentence, and yet it was filled with boundless emotion. How many setbacks had he survived thanks to hope. It had gotten through losing Lilly for instance.

And back then all he had was the shitty Hope to make reach the peak of Infinite just to make the promise he had made her true. And now he had given the lizards way more!

Seeing him deep in thought, even a certain System stilled. But then, the scene all came back to life as Jack chuckled. “Now, wasn’t there something about evolution?”

Ah, yes! Yes, there was! And before his expectant eyes…

[Ding! Welcome to the Evolution Space!]

[Where Newborns Turn Into Lizards!]

[Please Select An Evolution Path!]

Before his eyes were countless choices, pages, and pages filled with it. Some were meant to boost the body, others the mind, and some even added a few inches to a certain body part!

“Let me see… I don’t think I need longer claws.”

“Breathing Acid’s Fun Until Sexy Time.”

“Third eye sounds sick, honestly.”

But then he finally saw something that sent his blood racing, something that got his breathing galloping, something that got his scales shivering.

“Yes, that’s the one. It’s time to POWER UP!”

[Ding! Unlocked New Race: Arcane Lizard!]

[Warning! They’ve Long Been Extinct!]

[Warning! VERY Unstable Power!]

“Hehe, unstable? So am I…”
