MMORPG: Rise of the Peerless Pumpkinmancer

Chapter 445: A ’Warm’ Reception!

Chapter 445: A ’Warm’ Reception!

Jack was coming back?

No way: even the monolith said otherwise!

At that moment, many lizards were glaring at their three-eyed brethren with extreme doubt. But just as they were about to rebuke him, it suddenly happened!

All along the place had been deathly quiet, but it quickly changed, and for the worse. The silence was quickly replaced by countless deafening behemoth roars.

But there was something wrong with their tone! In order it went: roars of anger, roars of fright, and finally confused roars. The poor lizards stared shellshocked.

What the hell was happening over there?! One word MADMAN! And soon enough, even they could see it. A tiny dot progressively grew bigger and bigger as it flew to them!

Many rubbed their eyes wondering if they were hallucinating, but then they also heard it. This voice was unmistakable and still gave them nightmares!

“I believe I can fly! I believe I can touch the— oh?”

Under their shell-shocked eyes, HE arrived.

Jack went for a super-hero landing.

Sadly for everyone involved, his strongest power right now was Flame Manipulation, so that meant an inferno the size of a football field just to cushion his fall.

“Get out of the way! He’ll kill us all!”

“What is this?! Did he become a dragon?!

“Lizards shouldn’t be flying! It’s impossible!”

….

Many were rising up from the holes they had dug to protect themselves from the fire, and that’s when they came face to face with a smile that sent shivers down their souls.

“Welp, that was fun! Now, time to go—”

Without even glancing at their fallen selves, he started sprinting, and chuckled as many were still gawking: “Did you forget? We gotta get all the way up, not just here…”

With this, they finally came back to their senses, rushing alongside him, their hearts filled with endless questions. Luckily for them, a certain three-eyed lizards voiced it all.

He started running next to Jack…

“Brother, how were you able to do that?!”

“Be super duper cool while landing? It’s a gift!”

“Not that! How were you able to fly? And how were—”

Feeling the lizard’s endless curiosity, Jack only gave a teasing smile that seemed to say: ’Patience little one, all will be revealed in time’. And with this, they kept rushing.

They kept rushing until they were finally out, countless behemoths crying in relief. The evil youngster who had brutalized them was finally out of their lair!

But the behemoths weren’t the only ones crying at that moment… for Jack and Lizards came out to a sea of Shamans, and they too were loudly sobbing.

“T-This, it can’t be?! Where’s my Newborn?”

“There’s still a bit of time, right?”

“Where are the rest?!”

The Shamans were akin to concerned parents coming to pick up their kids at the kindergarten only to realize that their spawn had fucking died!

First came shock, then denial, then finally anger.

Boiling as if volcanoes, the Shamans clearly found an outlet for that anger. After all, the cause of it all was VERY obvious, with countless youngsters all looking Jack’s way.

“Don’t tell me, it’s because of him?!” “That bastard should have been kicked out!” “Its shaman obviously cheated!” “Yeah, look how skinny he looks now!” “Failed evolution?!”

At this moment, they kept spitting invectives as if trying to drown him! But before they could get physical, a certain Instructor barked “SHUT IT!” before turning to them.

“That’s it? There any more of you guys?”

They all glanced at Jack, wondering what they should say. Yet, instead of hiding it, he himself revealed what had happened while casually shrugging his shoulders.

“They died because they were too weak to fight behemoths…”

That was technically the truth! Had they been strong enough, he never would have asked them to train, so they never would have revolted and gotten slaughtered, right?

Still, this recollection of events sounded so sketchy! The Instructor turned to the youngsters.

“How about you all, is this true?”

YES!

YES!

YES!

YES!

They weren’t idiots!

Sure, the crazy lizard probably couldn’t hurt them with the Instructor watching, but they were sure as hell not gonna try! Besides, they were now feeling another emotion: gratitude.

Jack had dealt with the first two behemoths allowing them to access way better statues! Because of this, their evolution had gone smoothly! Because of this, they all backed him up.

But while the Instructor didn’t especially mind, a bunch of Shamans wouldn’t let it go. Without their Newborns, they’d be useless! Thus they all raised their voices:

“I don’t believe it! Please play the recollection!”

“Yes, play it! We want to see!”

“Let us see for ourselves!”

“YES!”

Sighing, the Instructor got to work. A lizard who was a pure fighter suddenly grabbed a lava-like red scale out of nowhere, one that made even Jack gasp.

Wasn’t this a fiery behemoth scale?! No, it wasn’t any scale, this one was special! He could feel it quiver powerfully and arrogantly as if this thing had a consciousness.

It was beautiful and mesmerizing…

“Hehe, first time seeing a master scale?”

In this life, it sure was! Jack had seen something similar in the past, but this one looked especially gorgeous, especially once one knew what it did.

A master scale was akin to a master key, but instead of allowing one to open any lock, it would allow one to communicate with any behemoth! What kind of concept was this?!

The Instructor’s glowing claw powerfully used the artifact!

“Well, well, let’s see what truly happened…”

That’s when a glowing screen appeared before them all. But there was something quite phenomenal about it. It looked like… a pair of eyes?! And then they understood.

This allowed one to view the world through a behemoth’s eyes?! What they would see would be the behemoths’ memories! In fact. Tiny silhouettes had just appeared.

Seeing this, Jack couldn’t help but freeze.

’Wait, that’s when we first came in, right?!’ Didn’t this mean that this thing had started recording from the very beginning?! Wouldn’t all he had done be clear as day?!

He suddenly didn’t feel that good. He hadn’t been supposed to kill youngsters, right? And now it would all soon be exposed on live magical television! He quietly chimed in:

“About that, can we skip that part? I swear it’s super boring!”

Sadly, they all seemed VERY interested…
