Chapter 444: He’s Eliminated?!!!

Chapter 444: He’s Eliminated?!!!

━━━━━━ POV ━━━━━━━

Everything had changed….

As they were spit out by the statues, they felt reborn.

The many Newborns had entered as worms and gone out as motherfucking dragons, or that’s how they felt anyway. For one of them, the shock was even greater than that.

“Arrggg! Make it stop, make it STOP!”

Intense pain rocked his world, and he found himself screaming in pain. If he knew there would be such a crazy headache he would never have picked that option!

And as he screamed a couple of concerned Lizardmen suddenly showed up. One, ten, twenty, hundreds, an entire legion! “Brother, are you ok— It’s You?!”

The newcomer suddenly froze, looking at him in shock. Why did it seem like he had seen a monster? But more importantly, why had all hundreds of them spoken at once?

But that’s when he realized, through the pain.

Hundreds? There was only one, it was his eyes playing tricks! His eyes, and that goddamn headache. At the moment, it felt like there was a scale stabbing his brain!

As the world started spinning, the lizard helped him.

“Careful, brother. Take it easy!”

He did as he was told.

Trying to catch his breath, he closed his eyes and— even with his eyes closed the world kept spinning, even more lizards appeared, and he suddenly felt like vomiting his guts!

What kind of torture was this?! Was evolution always this bad?! But amidst the pain, and discomfort, more lizards crowded around him, their gazes full of shock and admiration.

And that’s when he finally remembered…

[Evolution Path: Mystical Third Eye!]

[Near-Impossible to Master!]

[Warning! Dangerous!]

Right this thing…

This splitting headache was because of this.

This spinning world was because of this.

This splintering mind of his too.

But as he was slowly but surely coming back to his regular self, he couldn’t help but take in the excited chattering from his colleagues.

“Brother, you’re amazing. I didn’t have anything like that!”

“Same! Stronger, faster, but you literally changed body!”

“That’s amazing! You’ll be strongest amongst us all!”

What were they going on about? At this moment, he forgot his headache. He forgot about his state completely. There was one thing, and one thing only he wanted to know!

“What happened to HIM?”

The place instantly went deathly quiet.

The atmosphere couldn’t have been stranger than this! The many of them made strange expressions as they pointed toward a glowing timer in the sky.

[00:14:59]

[00:14:58]

[00:14:57]

“Apparently, he screwed up.”

Screwed up? How? More importantly, how could they know? This was merely the starting area, or near, and there was no way that he would have entered a statue there.

But just as he was questioning if they had all lost their minds, they pointed toward a large monolith that had appeared Scaly knew when, right near the place’s Entrance.

[Contestants in the Safe Zone: 68]

[Contestants in the Wild: 0]

[Contestant Missing: 1]

What?! Missing? How could a Newborn be missing? This didn’t make any sense. At this moment, even his third eye blinked with skepticism. But then one showed the answer.

A Lizardman pressed its claw against the ’missing’.

[Detail: Contestant Still Evolving!]

[Impeding Failure: Out of Time!]

[Do NOT Wait for Him!]

“This bullshit…”

He couldn’t help but swear.

He’d fail because of time running out? What kind of ridiculous reason was this?! At this moment, he actually felt anger. Against the guy, against this place, and even Scaly!

What was the point of allowing a monster of a Newborn to join the evaluation just to eliminate him for such a stupid reason? That made no sense at all!

More importantly, wouldn’t that mean all the deaths had been for nothing?! At this moment, he felt his scales quiver with indignation, a friendly claw patting his shoulder.

“If the Monolith says it, it has to be true.”

“Who are we to question Scaly.”

“Let it go, brother…”

They too didn’t understand, but neither did they have to. Normally, they should have been relieved that the monster was out, and yet they didn’t know how to feel about it.

They just had to accept reality, and they all did… except one!

“No, it can’t be. I can accept losing to him. I can accept him terrorizing our batch. But I CANNOT accept him dying in a ditch! That doesn’t make any sense!”

He shouted from the deepest part of his heart.

And that’s when it happened, instinctively.

[Ding! Activating Spirit Sense Ability!]

His newfound third eye started glowing like the sun as it activated, and suddenly he was out of his body?! Then his spirit escaped him as if a bird going on a migratory journey!

It flew following the crazy lizard’s steps.

It flew across a land of shattered evolution statues.

It flew across a land of Mana, and Behemoths, and… DEATH?!

That’s when he saw it all. Fallen behemoths, some injured and in very low spirits, with others straight up dead. Lots and lots of behemoth corpses, regret in their dead eyes.

No, actually only the first few had eyes, the latter cleaned through, as if someone had suddenly realized their value and swept them clean!

Then it kept going and it saw an insane sight.

A Statue of Lava, bigger than the world.

One that emanated so much power!

Even from far away, his spirit could see it, feel it, already feeling its attraction. Akin to a moth to a flame it found itself flying toward it, wanting to throw himself in it.

He forgot all about the lizard he was searching for.

He forgot all about his own existence.

He only cared about that Statue!

He’d reach it and then he’d— WATCH OUT! But that’s when it all shattered all of a sudden, the crazy scene before him bringing him to his senses.

What the fuck was that?!

A tiny dot in the sky, almost unnoticeable.

Then why was it glowing even more than the Statue?!

And as it magnified before his eyes, he wondered if he had lost his mind. A flying motherfucking lizard, his tongue out in the wind, taking a superhero pose?!

How did he know about that? Cause the lizard was screaming about it: “Hehe, look Mom, I’m flying! I’m a superhero, hehehehehe!” What kind of madness was this?!

And even while flying, Jack had the time to wink.

“Oh? You trying Astral Projection? Have fun buddy, but time’s running out so don’t be too long. Also, better leave that Lava Statue alone, it stinks! After all—”

That’s when the world went dark, his eyes opening to LOTS of Lizardmen worried about him. “Brother, are you okay? You went unconscious?!”

“Okay? Yes, but I just saw a lizard fly….”

“A lizard fly? There’s no way that’s possible!”

“Gasp, brother, you’re really out of it, aren’t you?”

But that’s when a certain third-eyed lizard gave a heavy sigh, as he pointed a shaking finger toward the horizon. Was it a bird? Was it a plane? No, it was far worse!

Jack was coming back….
