MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith

Chapter 1657 1657: Woes of Forging

“…”

“…I really hope this is the one.”

Obtaining a notification from the system that the snaplock firearm currently on his anvil was finally complete, the young man faintly held his breath as he went ahead and used his identification skill on it.

Ding!

“Oh my fucking god… FINALLY.” Seeing that the firearm had met the specific requirement the empire was looking for in their request, Valyr immediately let out a wide sigh of relief.

After all, with the firearm on the anvil meeting the empire’s requirements, he had finally completed the request the empire asked of him.

‘That took a lot longer than I thought it would,’ said Ataraxia through their connection as he watched his other self place the recently crafted firearm to the side.

‘Same thoughts,’ replied Valyr, briefly glancing at the 10 firearms that met the empire’s requirements before deciding to arrange them in order of quality. ‘Back when I forged the first firearm for the request, I thought it would only take me a couple of days at most to finish forging 10.’

As those words echoed in his mind, the young man thought back to the time he started to work on the empire’s request.

Taking a bit of time to recall the experiences he had accumulated forging snaplock firearms with Ryvrthe’s guidance, Valyr eventually began to put the parts made by his copies together, making use of both his and Ataraxia’s ocular skills to increase the quality of the final product as much as possible.

Unexpectedly, that first firearm had triggered the special effects of [Forger of Legends], causing the firearm he had forged after a long period of not forging anything significant to achieve Legendary+ grade.

Of course, with the high brought about by forging the firearm that met the empire’s most difficult requirements, the young man felt confident that he’d be able to consistently whip out firearms that were at least Legendary grade by the time he was done forging.

After all, if [Forger of Legends] hadn’t activated, then that meant the first firearm he forged would be Legendary grade.

Surely that meant he now had the capability to consistently forge Legendary grade equipment, right?

…Not necessarily.

Though Valyr tried his best to remain optimistic even after forging a couple dozen Epic-grade firearms in a row, by the time he had actually forged the second firearm to meet the empire’s requirement, the young man finally realized the difficulty that came with fulfilling the empire’s request.

‘Two weeks,’ murmured the young man, the words causing him to slightly shudder. ‘It took me two weeks to forge all 10 firearms.’

‘Kind of insane it took that long, honestly,’ said Ataraxia in response. ‘After all, it only took a day of incessant crafting for you to make the second one, then another day for the one after that.’

‘On average it took you a bit more than a day to forge a masterwork-level firearm.’

‘But for the last one to take over half a week to finally appear… crazy.’

‘…It could be worse,’ replied Valyr, letting out a low exhale after mulling over the words his other self told him in silence.

‘All I can say for now is that if they want me to make more masterwork-level firearms… we might have to ascend to Rank 5 before doing that.’

‘Rank 5, huh?’ Ataraxia’s eyes gleamed with interest at those words, his mind already thinking the level of power he could unleash once he reached the peak of mortality.

‘Well, there’s nothing really stopping us from that doing that,’ he said after giving it a bit of thought. ‘Sure, we might not have enough XP to reach the pinnacle, but we could ascend to Rank 5 right now if you want to.’

‘Not right now.’ Valyr faintly shook his head at the idea. ‘Though your strength has grown a lot thanks to the inheritance, the same couldn’t be said for me.’

‘However, that doesn’t mean I’ll postpone our ascension to just days before the Nine Heavenly Pillars Tournament,’ he clarified. ‘Just need to do a few more things to improve my strength before going with the ascension.’

‘You didn’t really have to clarify that,’ replied Ataraxia, letting out a slight chuckle. ‘We’re sharing thoughts and senses, after all. I don’t mind waiting to ascend a bit longer, especially with most of the player base still recovering from the existence of the ceiling.’

‘Anyways, is there anything else you need to forge that needs my vision skill?’ he asked soon after, which prompted Valyr to ponder over the question for a bit.

‘Not anymore, no.’ Eventually, the young man shook his head, sending his other self a look of gratitude. ‘I do have a couple of things I wanna craft that might need your help, but I’ll discuss that with you some other time.’

‘Thanks for the help, Meyers. Good luck on turning your guild’s territory into a town.’

‘No problem.’ Ataraxia let out a bit of laughter in response. ‘Just let me know when you’d swing by the guild so you could give me some tips on town building.’

Whoosh!

Sending a few more messages regarding their future plans through their connection, Valyr eventually shifted his attention back to the 10 firearms he had forged, only to then glance at the four production lines he had set up for a brief moment. ʀᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛʀs ᴀᴛ ⓝovelFire.net

“With the empire’s request now done, I suppose I should start forging items for sale,” muttered the young man to himself, closing his eyes for a bit as he drafted a rough list of items he planned to sell through the guild’s channels.

Spending a few minutes pondering over the various types of equipment that would quickly sell in the Blacksmith Guild, the young man went ahead and grabbed the Hammer of Beginnings he had left on the anvil, only to then draft a new set of instructions he planned on sending to his copies.

Though, just as he was about to send the new set of instructions in preparation for their next task, a look of realization gradually appeared on Valyr’s face as he shifted his gaze towards the large pile of firearms he had set aside.

“…”

“…”

“…Never mind.”
