My Celestial Ascension

Chapter 880: A Pile Of Empty Plates

Chapter 880: A Pile Of Empty Plates

The city looked peaceful at first glance, but many things happening within it were far from ordinary. Slaves could be seen everywhere on the streets, their presence unsettling and impossible to ignore.

As Yuan and his wives continued walking through the streets of Hexoria City, they attracted a great deal of attention from the public. Their appearances stood out far too much among the locals.

“Shall we eat something before we find a good place to rest?” Yuan asked with a smile as his stomach let out a quiet growl.

The moment Xi Meili heard this, a huge smile spread across her face, and she became visibly excited. Little Zoe looked just as thrilled.

“Let’s eat! Let’s eat!” Xi Meili said excitedly, nodding her head repeatedly with a bright gleam in her eyes.

“I’m feeling hungry as well… let’s eat first and decide what to do next after that,” Anna Grace added with a gentle smile as she held his hand softly.

“Should we ask someone for directions? We don’t know anything about this place, after all,” Rose suggested.

“There’s no need. I can already smell delicious food up ahead. Just follow me and I’ll lead you there,” Xi Meili said with sparkling eyes as she followed the scent of food in the air.

“Alright, we’ll rely on you for this then, Xi Meili,” Rose chuckled softly as she nodded her head.

’Does she have the nose of a dog or something?’ Nyx stared at Xi Meili with a strange look on her face, feeling slightly confused.

With Xi Meili leading the way, Yuan and his wives soon arrived at a very lively restaurant that sold all kinds of meat dishes.

“Hello, we’d like a table for us. Preferably somewhere quiet,” Yuan said to the receptionist at the entrance.

However, the receptionist ignored his words completely and stared at Yuan and his wives with a strange look in her eyes, as though she were looking at exotic creatures in a zoo.

“Ah—were you saying something to me?” the receptionist asked with an apologetic smile, feeling slightly ashamed of herself.

“I asked for a table for us with some peace and quiet. We don’t like being disturbed,” Yuan repeated with a soft sigh, shaking his head gently.

“Oh, right! I was completely distracted… I’m sorry about that,” the receptionist quickly apologized, feeling embarrassed.

“It’s fine, as long as you tell us whether you have a table for us… preferably somewhere private,” Yuan replied with a smile, causing the receptionist to blush faintly.

“We do have a private room usually reserved for merchants, and it hasn’t been booked yet. If you want complete privacy, you may take it—but it will be costly,” she explained with a polite smile.

“If you don’t mind the price, I can book it for you immediately. It also comes with a few extra services if you’re interested.”

“How much is it?” Anna Grace asked with a confident smile.

“Fifty gold coins, not a single less,” the receptionist responded immediately with a wide smile on her face.

Yuan nodded and calmly retrieved fifty gold coins from his system storage before handing them to the receptionist.

The receptionist was visibly shocked by how effortlessly Yuan paid such a large amount without even a flicker of hesitation. His calm demeanor greatly surprised her.

’He must be from an extremely wealthy household, perhaps even a noble family! I must make sure our restaurant provides the best hospitality to this gentleman and his companions!’ the receptionist thought excitedly.

“Please follow me this way. I’ll lead you all to your private room,” the receptionist said with the brightest smile she could manage as she led everyone inside.

“This is the private room our restaurant offers. I hope you all like it. Also, here is the menu—you may order anything you like,” she added politely.

Shortly after, Yuan and his wives ordered the entire menu, instantly shocking the receptionist with the sheer quantity of food ordered in one go.

She stared at them with a dumbfounded expression as she hurriedly wrote down the names of the dishes on her note.

Never in her life had she received such an absurd order from any guest. This was the first time she had ever seen customers order so much food at once.

If such customers came regularly, the restaurant would surely run at a loss instead of making any profit.

’This is insane!! How could they possibly finish all of this food?! Are they here just to cause trouble?!’ the receptionist cried inwardly, feeling more and more suspicious.

However, since Yuan had already paid the full amount upfront, she felt somewhat relieved knowing that he and his companions wouldn’t be dining and dashing later.

“I’ve noted everything down…please wait a moment while I inform the chefs to prepare your meals,” the receptionist said with a soft smile before leaving the room.

A few minutes later, the dishes began arriving one after another, delivered by several demon girls dressed in maid outfits.

“I’ll take my leave now. Please enjoy your meals, dear guests,” the receptionist said politely before leaving the room and granting Yuan and his wives their privacy.

Once the receptionist left, Yuan and his wives immediately began eating, devouring plate after plate of food from the table with incredible speed.

As they ate, one side of the table quickly filled with empty plates, stacking up like a small mountain. The servers kept bringing in more dishes, but their speed was no match for how fast Yuan and his wives consumed the food.

The servers were utterly shocked by their monstrous appetite. Most of the restaurant’s staff became busy serving only Yuan’s private room, yet they still couldn’t keep up.

While Yuan and his wives were busy enjoying their feast, at the same time, the entire Hexoria City had already begun talking about them.

Whispers about Yuan and his wives’ unique appearance quickly spread like wildfire throughout the entire city. The news reached every nook and cranny in the blink of an eye.

A large crowd of demons gathered in front of the restaurant, and everyone and their mother was talking about them.

Because of the guards hired by the restaurant, the people couldn’t get inside. And since the restaurant was a very premium place in the city—where only the wealthy could enjoy meals—

Common people could only dream of entering and dining in this restaurant. Since they couldn’t enter, they could only wait outside for Yuan and his wives to come out.

“When will they come out?”

“I don’t know… I’ve been standing here for almost an hour already.”

“Me too. I heard the rumors and hurried here immediately just to see what they look like.”

“I heard they have short ears and pale white skin, but a few of them have different skin tones. Also, a few of them even have horns—much longer than ours.”

Very quickly, the front of the restaurant was filled with whispers. Everyone was discussing the mysterious group of people who had arrived in the city.

Meanwhile, somewhere else inside a spacious room with a luxurious interior, a seductive demon woman was seated. She had a mature and alluring figure, wearing a stunning, elegant outfit.

She carried a dignified presence. Her amber eyes stared at the servant before her with such intensity that the servant trembled in fear.

“Have you confirmed the identity of the people who appeared in the city and caused such a huge commotion?” the woman asked in a soft voice that still carried heavy authority.

“I have identified them… they are humans, including a few demihumans. Two of them looked like demihumans as well, but I’m not certain what they are. The entire group is quite mysterious,” the servant replied with a serious expression, sweat soaking his forehead.

“Oh? How so? Are they some kind of abomination you couldn’t comprehend? Or do they possess strange forms?” the woman asked calmly, her eyebrows lifting slightly.

The servant felt his heartbeat accelerate the moment he saw the look on her face. His legs trembled as if an invisible hand was gripping his throat, suffocating him.

Taking a deep breath, the servant spoke, “Lady Hexryn, every individual in that group has an incredibly unique aura… one so profound that I couldn’t comprehend it even with all my knowledge.”

“Also, I couldn’t read them at all. I don’t know their true purpose for coming here and invading our continent out of nowhere.”

“Is that so?” the woman—Lady Hexryn—muttered softly before dismissing the servant. “Then I shall see them myself and find out their intentions for coming here.”

Lady Hexryn is the head of the Hexryn household, one of the four noble households of the Demonic Empire that rules one of the four cities of the empire.

“A group of humans suddenly appearing in my city out of nowhere… it’s far too strange. Very suspicious indeed… I must investigate this matter immediately and inform His Majesty about these intruders.” Lady Hexryn muttered in a low voice, a serious look on her face as she rose to her feet.

She immediately wrote a letter to the palace of the Demon Emperor and dispatched an envoy at once to deliver it, as this was a matter of great importance.

Those who had invaded the continent could harbor all kinds of malicious intentions, especially since demons and humans had been enemies for countless ages.

“Now that the letter has been sent, I should personally go and meet these humans and demihumans who have entered our territory,” Lady Hexryn spoke softly before leaving the room.

Meanwhile, after finishing hundreds of dishes, Yuan and his wives finally stopped eating. They were highly satisfied with both the meals and the hospitality of the demons.

They were quite surprised by the demons’ hospitality, considering how often demons were described as beings born of evil—seeds of darkness that would bring destruction to the world.

However, after meeting the demons for the first time, Yuan and his wives found their opinions slowly changing.

“Now I feel relaxed… My stomach was growling nonstop earlier. I was extremely hungry… I don’t think I can eat another bite now,” Xi Meili mumbled while rubbing her round belly, which had swollen slightly from overeating.

A few moments later, the receptionist returned to the room with an awkward expression. She was immediately stunned when she saw the massive pile of empty dishes on the table.

’What in the world am I even looking at?! Did they really eat all this?! This is unbelievable!!’ She cried inwardly, feeling like she was about to faint from shock.

“The food was wonderful… we truly enjoyed your hospitality,” Yuan said with a smile as he took out a small pouch filled with gold coins. “Here is a token of our gratitude for your service.”

“I-I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed our food…” the receptionist replied awkwardly, her voice trembling slightly as she took the pouch with shaky hands.
