Chapter 2570: State of the Eastern Continent II
Peridot and Levin Cloud returned to the Dragon Lake Palace where the Ryujins now live as their previous mountain has collapsed. They did not look happy as they have just seen a large massacre of civilians from two divine entities. They wanted to help the Immortals against the two gods, Ryujin and Fujin, but they had to stop themselves as they needed to secure the Azure Orb for now.
Grand Mistress Nu Wa noticed this and asked why they looked so down. The two answered truthfully and consoled them that this is how the eastern continent was before the divine beasts ruled it. She then took the Azure Orb and placed it inside a special box that has the carving of the Azure Dragon of the East.
“It seems that not eliminating all of the fallen gods was not a good choice.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.
“What do you mean by that, master?” Peridot asked.
“Back then the eastern continent had lots of gods that numbered in the hundreds. They were beings of immense power and respect. Some of them were foreign gods that came from far away, but we welcomed them since they once shared our ideals. What we did not expect is that they would go so far as to ally themselves with beings from other universes that want to harm our current one.
A large fight with gods that shook the heavens started because of the invasion. The hundreds of gods fell one by one but the ones that bore the brunt of our fight were the mortals. They were caught in the war between the eastern gods that they were almost erased from existence. It is because of my sacrifice along with my husband and two others that we prevented the destruction of the mortals that prayed to us.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.
Grand Mistress Nu Wa then told them that this powerful sacrifice was none other than a powerful divine curse that affected all of them gods in the eastern continent. The gods were stripped of their divine energy and became mortals destined to walk the path one. They were able to become demigods through training and such, but they will never be able to rise up back to divine status.
“The curse would prevent the gods that are affected to recover their divinity. It affected all of us and did not differentiate between friend or foe. In the end, we all knew why it affected all of us because a sliver of our own minds thought that mortals were small and weak. This powerful negative thinking became the reason why all of us reincarnated into mortals and it is also the only way for us to truly break it.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.
The revelation from Grand Mistress Nu Wa came at a shock for Peridot and Levin Cloud. They did not expect that Grand Mistress Nu Wa actually knew the way to overturn the curse that was affecting all the fallen gods. All of the fallen gods need to truly understand the ways and the hearts of mortals in order to regain their divinity. Some have already learned of this truth, but they do not believe such things such as the members of Kami.
Kami believed that gods should always be above mortals and that the mortals should always serve the gods. This thinking did not change even if they reincarnated a few more times which is why the fallen gods can never regain their divinity. The difficult requirement of all of them having to accept and love mortals above themselves is not easily attainable for some. This is also a foreign concept to some gods that came from different universes.
“In the end, the love of hundreds of gods cannot be solidified into one which is why we can never regain our divinity normally. The curse was created using the world as a conduit as well which meant that destroying the world is also another way to get rid of the curse.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.
“Where did the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts come from then?” Levin Cloud asked.
“The Four Cardinal Divine Beasts came from the hearts and minds of people wishing for better guardians that will help them rise.” Grand Master Fu Xi stated as he returned.
“Why did you take so long?” Grand Mistress Nu Wa asked in concern.
“I was about to return but I got caught up in a disturbance with the White Tiger of the West. Unfortunately, I was already too late, and the White Tiger of the West was already killed by the time I got there. It was a good thing that they had not yet moved the corpse of the White Tiger of the West as I managed to erase it using Elemental Catastrophe. They will not be able to defile the corpse of the divine beast to their will.” Grand Master Fu Xi stated.
“Two of the guardians are dead which means that the eastern continent will no longer be at peace. It was already difficult having it at a peaceful time, but it seems that the Ryujin must now move. We must gather the allies that we can and finally purge that is rotting the eastern continent.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated with a very serious tone.
“Lots of lives will be lost in the process, my love.” Grand Master Fu Xi stated with worry.
“Even if I have to sacrifice myself for the people, I must make sure that the people of the eastern continent could at least get peace within their homes. The lands of the eastern continent might be filled with danger to test mortals, but gods should never endanger them just because of their greedy desires.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated with conviction.
“If that is what you want then I shall prepare all of the Ryujin. We will make sure that we that have been tasked in protecting the eastern continent is ready to purge the filth in it. The demons can no longer help us as they are busy dealing with the expanded world as it is. We have lived for numerous incarnations in this continent.
It is only when we became Ryujin that we somewhat enjoyed a longer life compared to before. It is time to give back to the people that once took care of us when we became mortals. I shall rally other fallen gods that think the same as us.” Grand Master Fu Xi stated as he departed.
“For the two of you, I have a task that you need to do. The White Tiger of the West has been killed but its divine essence has not been extinguished. This means that it has hidden its divine essence somewhere safe. From what I know, there is a Seer that served the White Tiger of the West with all his heart. Find that Seer as I know that he might have the divine essence of the White Tiger of the West. You shall be accompanied by other guards as well since the eastern continent has started to fall to ruin now.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated.

In the secret hideout of Kami, the four people finally escaped properly using a teleportation scroll that was created by a Formation Master. It is not teleportation like what demons use but merely a special talisman that uses the ley lines and natural energy of the world to return to a marked location. Chiyou immediately fell to his knees upon arriving at their base while Tai, Vixen, and Tama could be seen disappointed in themselves.
“I am sorry, master. I was unable to help you against the Ryujin. The corpse of the White Tiger of the West was destroyed because of my incompetence.” Tai stated.
“It is not your fault, Tai. The strength of a divine beast that is not holding back is something that mortals like us cannot contend with easily without sacrifices. I still managed to get this which will be useful for the upcoming war.” Chiyou stated as he pulled a glowing fang with the aura of the White Tiger of the West.
“War? Do you mean something will happen, master?” Vixen asked.
“Kami has already stroked the flames of war. The eastern continent will now enter an era of blood and fire. A fang of a divine beast would be enough for Tai to be able to kill Ascendant Immortals. Take this to Kagutsuchi and forge the divine killing weapon you need. There are two more divine beasts that are needed to be killed.” Chiyou stated.
“Thank you, master.” Tai stated as he took the fang of the White Tiger of the West and headed to the divine blacksmith of the organization or rather the enslaved divine blacksmith.
Chiyou then stood up as soon as the three were gone as if he was never injured in the first place. The tattered clothes he has became fixed in an instant while the energy that he lost became almost full. A smile could be seen hidden underneath that oni mask.
