Chapter 2574: Peace Disturbed I

“You are weakened.” Adrian muttered as he could feel that the Vermillion Bird of the South may look dignified and regal, but the former could easily see it is all a façade.

“This self has been forced to create a powerful miracle that reversed the fates of many people. The toll of doing such an act is not seen lightly by the gods of life and death. I have sacrificed one of my hearts in order to do so but I am left in this weakened state for a year.” The Vermillion Bird of the South stated.

“What can I do to help, Suzaku?” Adrian asked in a tone of familiarity.

“This self is ashamed to ask of you, but it is fine if you also refuse. The heart that was given by this self has properties that can regenerate my lost powers. It has gained much experience and power from your travels together.” The Vermillion Bird of the South stated but it looked ashamed as it was thinking of taking back something it has gifted to Adrian.

“If you need it back then I am willing to part with it. It has been great help to my journey but helping a friend is better than keeping it for myself.” Adrian replied as he was not that attached to the heart even though it did give him high fire resistance.

“This self does not need all of it. I merely need half its current power but that also means my friend will not be able to use the remains. It will no longer be compatible with your body as half of its essence is being used to tailor the heart to your body.” The Vermillion Bird of the South stated.

“If that is the case then you can have all of it back since I will not be able to use it anymore.” Adrian added.

“This self is not shameless to get all of it back when there is another inside of you that can use my flames. You have with you an avian monster that has the prospect of becoming a more powerful divine beast of flames that I am.” The Vermillion Bird of the South stated.

“Which one? Is it Saena?” Adrian asked.

“My friend is correct. Saena has the bloodline of a powerful divine beast that far outranks me, but it seems that her path to becoming that has reached a bottleneck. Perhaps the power of my remaining heart will be able to ignite what she lacks but that will leave my friend without protection from me.” The Vermillion Bird of the South stated.

“It is fine because Saena is also a part of me in a sense. Our souls are connected and her becoming stronger is a good deal for me as well.” Adrian stated as he summoned Saena.

Saena suddenly came out with a bewildered face, but she saw the Vermillion Bird of the South. Saena then proceeded to chat with the Vermillion Bird of the South as if they were catching up on what happened. Saena seems to think that the Vermillion Bird of the South is a very reliable elder of avian beasts.

“This self once again asks my friend. Are you sure about this decision?” The Vermillion Bird of the South asked.

“I am sure. Please proceed with the transfer.” Adrian stated with seriousness and conviction.

The Vermillion Bird of the South could feel the sincerity of Adrian’s words which made its decision final. The Vermillion Bird of the South also promised to repay the favor that its friend has given it. The Vermillion Bird of the South spread her wings as Adrian is enveloped in golden flames with crimson wings of a bird sprouting from his back. The flames were fierce and hot, but Adrian could not feel any of its danger.

After a few minutes, the crimson wings behind Adrian suddenly started to take shape. The flames that are wrapped around him suddenly formed the silhouette of a bird that is a smaller version of the Vermillion Bird of the South. As soon as the silhouette has fully formed, the crimson flames suddenly flapped its wings and came out of Adrian’s body.

[You no longer have the Heart of the Vermillion Bird]

The Heart of the Vermillion Bird that was given to Adrian has fully left his body. One would think that Adrian would feel a loss of having a skill taken away from him, but he actually felt lighter. For some reason, Adrian actually felt a form of relief when the Heart of the Vermillion Bird was taken away.

Adrian did not pay attention to the notifications as the next process that the Vermillion Bird of the South did was so eye catching. The crimson flaming silhouette then split into two parts, and each one flew to a different being. One returned back to the Vermillion Bird of the South while the other one flew towards Saena and became part of her soul. The weakened Vermillion Bird of the South could be seen slowly regenerating its lost vitality.

Saena has some changes in her body as she now has some flaming sparks that would randomly ignite from her wings. The tips of her wings that were pure white has also changed to a more crimson color which made her look different but not so much. Adrian also felt that Saena somehow increased her affinity to the elements that she already used.

Saena’s power increased by half which actually made her more dangerous than before. It also seems that she now has more versatile power using the light element. The overall power up that Saena received is so immense that it actually made Adrian’s jaw drop. Saena usually just heals and deals some damage, but she might now have the power of a proper sub DPS.
