Chapter 2586: Plans for the East

Chapter 2586: Plans for the East

The face of Grand Mistress Nu Wa looked like she was about to burst as she then saw Adrian arrive. Adrian made sure to avoid the gaze at first and then fly towards them in a rather smiley fashion. He made sure that his energy is pure and clean to the point that he did not know that such a thing would happen. Adrian observed that Grand Mistress Nu Wa is not angry about the sudden appearance of the pagoda, but it was not aesthetic.

When they were still living in the mystic mountain, all the buildings there were pristine and orderly. It would not have been that way if not for the care and standard that the grand mistress has imposed. One could easily tell that Grand Mistress Nu Wa is a person that likes everything to be symmetrical and beautiful which is also one of the reasons why she chose Peridot in the first place. Peridot has often been called the Symmetrical Beauty in the real world for her face, and she did not change it at all when she entered the game.

“Care to explain this, young mediator?” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated with a smiling face that could be seen to be bottling up her anger.

“Apologies for the sudden transportation of the first-floor pagoda. I had no other choice as we were already surrounded by an army of enemies. Seeing that I do not sense any living presence inside of the pagoda, I believe that the benevolent Grand Mistress Nu Wa has already treated them. I thank you on behalf of the Vermillion Bird of the South.” Adrian stated.

“No need for the appreciation as I could not let them be injured and endangered like that. I am good friends with the Vermillion Bird of the South after all. Tell me, when is the Vermillion Bird of the South coming? Seeing that you are here in the flesh meant that you have perfectly defended the territory, but it must have been utterly destroyed in the process.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated as she is expecting that a small apparition of the Vermillion Bird of the South will appear next to Adrian.

“About that…” Adrian’s heavy voice suddenly made Grand Mistress Nu Wa’s heart ache, but she knew that this kid was a bit of a jokester.

Grand Mistress Nu Wa believed that he might be playing a prank to make the situation lighthearted as she did show that she was angry of the sudden flying pagoda in their pocket dimension. It was only when she felt the deep sorrow emitted from the demon before him that a tear fell from her right eye. A tear from a Ryujin like her turned into a precious pearl as it hit the ground.

“Unfortunately, the enemies were far too strong for the both of us to come back alive. I was only able to get back the Vermillion Egg where the last spark of life of the Vermillion Bird of the South has settled. This is the last remaining trace of Suzaku that is left in this world as I already gave back the heart that Suzaku gave me back then as a present.” Adrian stated as he presented the Vermillion Egg in a comfy crimson cushion.

Grand Mistress Nu Wa looked at the Vermillion Egg and grieved for a moment as the friend that she once knew is now gone. Even she knows that the new Vermillion Bird of the South that will hatch from his egg will no longer be the same one that she has enjoyed her company with. Sadness is then changed to a very resolute face as Grand Mistress Nu Wa now believes that Kami must be utterly eliminated.

“It was my judgement back then to give them a second chance as they did not do anything rash to endanger the eastern continent, but it seems that they want war.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated as her anger turned into a desire to correct the miscreants that dared to destroy the balance of the eastern continent.

“Calm down for now, my love. Even if we want to completely eradicate them, we do not know where they are hiding.” Grand Master Fu Xi stated.

“Please do not move as much. You still need some rest.” One of the Ryujin guards stated as three shrine maidens suddenly came out of the clinic where they were resting.

“We have detected our deity! Please let us see our great Vermillion Bird of the South!” The head Shrine Maiden stated even though she clearly looks pale.

“It would be a detriment to your recovery if you do so. Please return for a moment.” The Ryujin Guard stated but the shrine maidens were resolute in their wish.

“Let them come. They would need to see this because the next generation will be responsible for caring it.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated as she let the Shine Maidens come up to her.

“We greet, the mediator!” The Shrine Maidens stated as they realized that Adrian was also in their midst.

“Please do not push yourself too much. Suzaku would definitely scold me if they were to see your condition.” Adrian stated with a pained voice.

“Apologies but we wish to greet our master! Please let us speak with our master.” One of the younger shrine maidens stated but the head Shrine Maiden finally understood everything as soon as she came close.

“You have fought well and hard, Master Equinox. I am sure that our master did not have regrets in fighting alongside you in order to repel the enemies.” The head Shrine Maiden stated as she finally felt the aura of the Vermillion Egg as she could not see it because she is still blindfolded.

“Where is the master?” The youngest Shrine Maiden asked as she could not see the Vermillion Bird.

“The master has passed away.” The Head Shrine Maiden stated.

“Impossible! The master is the best and the most powerful.” The young shrine maiden stated as her tiny heart started to feel the pain of the being that saved her from dying in a road as she was ditched by her real parents.

“Your current master has died but that does not mean that there will no longer be a Vermillion Bird of the South.” Grand Mistress Nu Wa stated which made the shrine maidens calm down a bit.

“This is the last hope of the Suzaku that I will bestow upon you. I believe that Suzaku would have wanted you to take care of their needs. After all, divine beasts need the faith of the people in order to grow and become powerful again.” Adrian stated as he presented the Vermillion Egg to the Shrine Maidens.

“Are you sure about this, Master Equinox?” The Head Shrine Maiden asked in shock as giving up the responsibility of the Vermillion Egg is like giving up the rights of taking care of a divine beast.

The Head Shrine Maiden looked at Adrian with disbelief as she did not expect that a powerful summoner like him would actually concede the egg of a guaranteed divine beast. Given the fact that hatching it would be difficult, but the Head Shrine Maiden can clearly see that Adrian was talented. He could definitely hatch the Vermillion Egg through unconventional means and have full control over the Vermillion Bird of the South.

“I am not the owner of the egg because the true owners are the people of Vermillion City. They are the ones that Suzaku sacrificed its life for, and they should know that their guardian deity sacrificed everything to make them safe. Even if most of the residents of Vermillion City are now scattered, I believe that they can rebuild the city once again and revive the Vermillion Bird of the South.” Adrian stated.

Adrian did not teleport the entire city because even that would be a feat that is quite difficult for him. He did make passageways that most of the city residents used to escape into hidden tunnels. There are definitely Shrine Maidens with each group that have hidden, and rebuilding Vermillion City would take time, but they can manage it if all of them regroup. Adrian also knows that this would be the fastest way to hatch the Vermillion Egg as the faith of the people is the main power needed.

“For the people of the South, we shall owe this eternal gratitude to you, the Eternal Friend of the Vermillion Bird! We will never forget this grace that you have bestowed upon us. We promise that we shall answer your call even if we must sacrifice our lives.” The Head Shrine Maiden stated as she bowed before Adrian.

“You do not need to do that. If you want to repay me then please make sure that the Vermillion Egg hatches. That is the thing that I ask of you.” Adrian stated as he did not want to owe other people when he knows he failed in protecting his friend.
