Chapter 2732: I See My Death

The Great Star Gazer actually has seen her death but she does not know the entirety of it. She has seen that the start of her death is when the God of Mischief Loki appears in her sanctum. This is the point in time that even she cannot change as it is a fixed point. She cannot even speak about her death because it is a taboo topic that will engulf everything around her in chaotic causality.

Even the Great Star Gazer knew why she was given the most powerful artifact by the Norn or what they are famously called as the Fates. She is the most powerful seer of this generation and has led the northern kingdom to safety all these years. She did not despair of her death because she knew that her fate is like a transaction.

In fact, the Great Star Gazer basically had a covenant with the Fates. The covenant started when she activated or had her first vision of the future. She had visions that all of her people would die from severe frost and even rampaging beasts. She did not see any future where they will live because all she saw was death to all of them.

In the end, her prophetic powers were so powerful that she could change small instances of fate but that is all. Even with those powerful abilities, the Great Star Gazer cannot change the determined doom that her family would face. She wanted to accept it but there is still one thing that she could do. A bargain with the Norn which are called the Goddesses of Fate in the northern continent.

In the cold dark sky, the Great Star Gazer or rather her true name that she abandoned, Estrella, made a with to the stars itself. The stars which have blessed her with the sight to see the future but also doomed her in giving her the helpless tomorrow. Estrella prayed to the stars which are the symbol of the Norn as there would always be three stars that appear in the sky when darkness covers it.

Estrella thought that if she could bargain with fate itself then she would be able to save her people. The people that take care of her despite being weak and a small child. She would gladly sacrifice herself in order to save them which is why her fervent wish actually reached the Norn themselves. Three stars descended at that cold dark night with each carrying the power of the Norn.

“We have heard your wish, child. It echoes even through the past.” The Goddess Urd or the First Sister of the Fates stated.

“You are already safe at the present which is why you should not dwell too much on other things. You should live as you are without worrying about what comes next.” The Goddess Verdandi or the Second Sister of the Fates stated.

“She worries for their future, sisters. She is someone that deserves our love.” The Goddess Skuld or the Third Sister of the Fates stated.

The three stars that appeared before her or rather a manifestation of the Norn (Fates) has answred her call. The three each had different personalities as Urd is a bit stiff and unbending. Verdandi was happy and had a cheerful personality. Skuld is rather bipolar as she would change to either a depressed tone or a very hopeful tone.

“Great Deities of Fate, the Norn, please give me the power to change the future that I have seen for my people.” Estrella stated.

“You wish to change the future child and you want our power to do so?” The Goddess Urd asked as if she was an old woman offended by a youngster.

“Yes! Please give me the power to twist the future itself so that I can lead my people to survive this harsh land.” Estrella stated.

“Are you ready to bear the consequences of that power child?” The Goddess Verdandi asked in a worried tone like a mother.

“I am willing to sacrifice both my body and my soul so that they can live and see a brighter future.” Estrella stated.

“Why would you risk your future for people that you know are about to die, my child? I am sure that you know that you will live while all of them will die.” The Goddess Skuld stated as she suddenly sounded gloomy.

What the Norns have told Estrella is true as she did not want to admit it but only, she will survive the upcoming disaster that will strike them. She amongst the thousands of people will be the sole survivor which is why she did not want to accept that future. She has seen it multiple times in different iterations but only she will not die. The others will become lifeless corpses while she will live a long life.

“You wish to abandon your future because you are shackled by your past?” The Goddess Urd asked in a mocking tone but there was a hint of respect hidden in it.

“I am shackled by my past but it is what has made me what I am today.” Estrella stated.

“I admire your resolve little one. I will grant you your wish by being by your side.” The Goddess Verdandi stated as her star shone brightly to give Estrella her blessing.

“If you want to change the future then the future that you currently have will be abandoned. Do you believe that and will never attempt to change it? I shall show you the future that is altered if you accept the covenant.” The Goddess Skuld asked.

The Goddess Skuld then only showed one future to Estrella and that is a large kingdom that looked like it is made of ice. A large sanctum where she is the owner and where she divined the future for others. It is also where she will die when a powerful divine being carrying daggers appear before her. Before she could see what would happen next, the image presented to her vanished as that is as far as her future goes.

“You will die at the hands of a god in a very painful manner.” The Goddess Urd stated.

“Do not scare the child as she already accepted it.” The Goddess Verdandi stated.

“That is your only future should you enter a covenant with us, child.” The Goddess Skuld stated.

“If the future of my people becomes that grand then I will not be scared in the face of death. I shall embrace it just like the seers before me. I will sacrifice my own future for the future of my people.” Estrella stated which made the Norn smile as they have tested the child enough.

“You have steeled your resolve and accepted your past. I, the First, shall agree with the covenant.” The Goddess Urd stated in a voice of an old woman.

“You are present in your goal and that is admirable. I, the Second, shall agree with the covenant.” The Goddess Verdandi stated with the voice of a caring mother.

“You are not afraid of your future! I, the Third, shall agree with the covenant.” The Goddess Skuld stated with a voice that sounds like a teenager filled with joy.

“We, the Norn, the Fates, the Moirai, the Parcae, the Wyrds, the Fatia have heard of your wish, Estrella. Just like the stars before you that symbolize us, you shall also be loved by them just as much. In exchange for our power, you shall need to sacrifice your sight! Do you agree, child?” The Norns asked in unison.

“I agree!” Estrella stated.

“The First Seal is now placed.” The Goddess Urd stated as Estrella lost her sight.

“In exchange for your current self and the lives of the present, you shall need to sacrifice your identity. Do you agree, child?” The Norns asked in unison.

“I agree.” Estrella stated.

“The Second Seal is placed. You shall no longer be called by your name but the title of Great Star Gazer.” The Goddess Verdandi stated.

“In exchange for the future of others, you shall sacrifice the bright future that you would have. Do you agree, child?” The Norns asked.

“I agree.” The Great Star Gazer stated without losing any confidence.

“The Last seal is placed. Your future is now bound.” The Goddess Skuld stated.

“You are now a child that has been granted our affection. Your fate is bound and unchanging that even we cannot move. We shall see each other again when you return to fates embrace.” The Norns stated as they vanished.

Just as the Norns promised, the Great Star Gazer managed to see countless possible positive futures and led her people to safety. One of those is the awakening of her friend the Ice Queen Elona. Together for years, they created and shaped the most powerful kingdom in the northern continent.

“So, this is how it all ends. I have done my part.” The Great Star Gazer stated as she felt the blades of the dagger nick her neck.
