Chapter 268:Simon Vs Ethan 2
Chapter 268: 268:Simon Vs Ethan 2
“What a surprise. It really is unbelievable.” Simon stared at him with open shock and then shifted his gaze to Ethan’s giant sword wrapped in lightning. His expression turned strange. “You really look sharp.”
“Of course I am.”
“Did you think of me as some greenhorn or what?”Ethan snorted.
During their earlier clash, Simon felt the bones in his hands almost crack just from holding his spear. He still could not judge how heavy Ethan’s weapon was. Nor could he measure the destructive power behind each strike.
Ethan steadied himself and shot forward again.
Their weapons clashed in a brief exchange. Ethan swung his greatsword which boiled with flames. Simon met him with lightning wrapped around his spear. Sparks burst into the air. Dirt flew. Their footsteps cracked the ground.
Simon made a cunning move. He swept his leg at Ethan’s ankle to break his balance and followed with a sharp cross-blow of his spear that slammed into Ethan’s ribs. Ethan was forced to fall back but he blocked with his greatsword.
TANG.
The heavy force sent Ethan skidding across the ground. Dust rose as he dragged along the broken surface before twisting his body and getting back on his feet.
Ethan wiped a thin trail of blood from the corner of his mouth. He held the hilt of his sword with his right hand and let the heavy blade rest on the shattered ground. He glared at Simon and said, “Stop acting surprised.”
Now Ethan understood better why this man was called a monster. It was not just his strength. It was his frightening speed. His cunning moves and his ability to hit with angles most knights never used.
Most knights fought in straight lines and brute force. Ethan only managed to react because of the martial arts experience he had gathered for shoots. He was not a professional, yet he had practiced enough to make his body move without thinking.
“What’s with that move?”
“My ability has been honed through countless battles. Furthermore, you can’t expect me to fight with honour.” Simon said this openly. His cold expression did not change. “I always put my life on the line.”
He paused and then extended his hand as if giving an offer. His tone became strangely sincere. “Young man, how about joining us? Why limit yourself to this kingdom.”
“Your future lies in those vast Empires. You might not be the greatest genius I have seen but you are somewhat capable.”
“Greatest genius?” Ethan’s senses sharpened instantly. His wariness rose. “Who is the greatest genius you met?”
“There are peaks above peaks but the best I met was a person who reached King’s Knight at twenty.”
Ethan’s expression cracked slightly.
’Fuck… System, are there such monsters?’
[It’s because you aren’t working hard. Host, it is suggested to breed more children.]
Ethan’s face darkened and he barely held back the urge to show a middle finger.
At that moment Simon’s expression suddenly changed. His eyes shifted to the bloody wound on his shoulder. A flash of panic appeared but then his gaze hardened. He extended his right hand and golden lightning crackled in his palm. Then he struck his own shoulder.
The flesh burned and the blood evaporated. A pained grimace crossed his face.
“What a pity. That was close.”
Simon glared at Ethan. He prepared to speak but stopped when he saw Ethan raise his giant sword. He understood. There was no need for more talking. He tightened his grip and recreated a crimson spear.
Ethan spread his legs slightly and bent his knees a little. He lifted his giant sword with both hands. The tip pointed at Ethan started to burn as a huge amount of aura enshrined it. He stared at Simon through the edges of the blade.
Simon took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, a chilling coldness filled his gaze. Lightning danced around his body as he charged.
BOOM.
BOOM.
BOOM.
His spear moved like a barrage of bullets. Each thrust left behind an afterimage that sent shockwaves toward Ethan.
Flames flared along Ethan’s blade. The aura around him burned fiercely. He raised his greatsword and slammed it down.
A massive blade arc shot forward and collided with the wave of thrusts. A huge explosion rattled the air.
And when the blast faded, Simon’s eyes widened in horror.
Ethan appeared behind him.
“That’s Blink.” Simon’s voice dropped coldly. His eyes narrowed as he recognized the spell.
Simon still attacked without hesitation. He whipped his leg backward with unnatural speed and power.
Ethan raised his greatsword. The kick landed with a heavy boom. Ethan twisted the blade and deflected the strike. He spun with the momentum and swung his giant sword toward Simon.
Simon pulled his spear back at the last second. He stabbed at the edge of the greatsword.
BANG.
The sudden clash sent both men flying back. Their weapons were torn from their hands.
Both weapons flew from their hands. They crashed into the rubble behind them with a loud metallic scream.
For a heartbeat, there was silence.
Then the world exploded.
Simon moved first. His massive body blurred. His feet cracked the ground as he lunged forward with pure brute force. His fist shot toward Ethan’s face like a cannonball.
Ethan raised his arm and blocked it with a jab meeting his fist head on.
BANG.
The impact shook the land. Dust blasted outward in a ring. Stones rolled across the ground.
Ethan’s boots slid back several meters before he stomped down to regain balance. He felt his arm go numb but he gritted his teeth and pushed back.
Simon rushed in again.
His cold eyes narrowed. His expression did not change. He looked like a monster that had fought through blood and fire for decades. His fists moved in a rhythm that only a veteran killer would understand. Straight punches, elbows, shoulder strikes, and sudden sweeps mixed with lightning-quick movements.
The man fought like a beast that had learned martial arts.
Ethan might be a bit stronger in raw strength but Simon’s shrewdness and experience made it up.
However, Ethan didn’t falter.
’Fuck…That’s what I need..A fight to hone myself.’
’Lets go!’
