Chapter 269: Pummeled
Chapter 269: 269: Pummeled
Ethan met him head-on.
His left fist shot forward and his right elbow followed. He twisted his waist and planted a kick into Simon’s torso.
BANG.
CRACK.
The impact thundered like two mountains colliding. They shook the ground and split the earth under them.
Simon grinned coldly. “Good…This is interesting.”
Ethan tightened his jaw. “Shut up and fight.”
Simon’s knee rose sharply and smashed into Ethan’s ribs. Ethan bent forward from the blow but he used the angle to slam the top of his head into Simon’s chin.
THUD.
Simon staggered half a step but did not fall. He wiped the blood at the corner of his lips with the back of his hand. His expression remained calm and cruel.
He vanished.
Ethan’s eyes widened. He felt the air twist behind him. He ducked and rolled as Simon’s heel smashed down at the spot where his skull had been.
BOOM.
The whole patch of earth caved in.
Ethan spun around and sent a whirlwind kick at Simon. His leg cut through the air. Sparks flew as his armored boots grazed the ground. Simon lifted his forearm to block.
THANG.
The sound rang like metal clashing against metal.
Simon’s arm trembled. Ethan felt the shock run through his own leg.
They did not pause.
Simon stepped in. He twisted his waist and slammed a punch straight toward Ethan’s chest. Ethan caught the fist with both hands but the raw force still blasted him backward. He flipped in the air and landed on his feet. Before he could even breathe, Simon was already in front of him again.
Ethan dropped low and swept at Simon’s legs.
Simon jumped, spun in the air, and threw a kick downward.
Ethan lifted both arms to block.
BOOOOM.
The pressure forced him into the ground, creating a crater under his feet. Dirt erupted behind him like a wave.
Ethan roared and shoved Simon’s leg upward. He stood up with force and slammed a fist into Simon’s stomach.
THUD.
Simon’s huge body bent slightly but his eyes remained cold and calculating. He grabbed Ethan’s wrist and pulled him forward, driving a brutal headbutt at Ethan’s forehead.
CRACK.
Ethan’s vision flashed white. Pain shot across his skull. He gritted his teeth and retaliated with a headbutt of his own.
THUD.
Both men staggered back a step.
The ground beneath them was no longer ground. It was full of rubble, dust, craters and shattered stone. Each exchange tore apart the surroundings. The sky above them shook from the force of their aura.
Simon wiped his mouth again. Blood dripped from his lip but he did not care. He straightened his back and cracked his knuckles.
“A battle like this… reminds me why I live.”
Ethan spat blood on the ground. “Shut up. You talk too much.”
Simon’s eyes grew colder. His muscles tightened. His aura twisted like lightning wrapped in wrath.
He lunged.
So did Ethan.
Their fists collided mid-air.
BOOOOOOOOM.
The shockwave tore apart everything around them. Trees vanished. Rocks turned to dust. Fire and lightning burst wildly from the impact as if the elements themselves fought beside their masters.
They moved again.
Punches. Elbows. Kicks. Locks. Spins. Throws.
Each strike created explosions. Each counter sent out waves of destruction.
Simon swung his arm in a wide arc, aiming at Ethan’s neck. Ethan ducked down, twisted under the strike and smashed an uppercut into Simon’s jaw.
Simon flew upward. Ethan didn’t let him escape. He jumped after him and slammed his knee into Simon’s chest.
BANG.
The burly man shot downward like a meteor and hit the earth hard, cracking it open.
But Simon stood up instantly. Not even breathing hard.
Simon stepped forward again.Ethan stepped forward as well.
Their fists drew back.
Their eyes locked.
The ground, the air, even the sky trembled.
Then they clashed once more.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Simon threw three punches in rapid succession.
The first fist split the air.The second crushed the ground where Ethan had stood. The third came from a blind angle, sharp and vicious.
Ethan twisted his waist and turned sideways. He rolled across the shattered earth as the punches passed inches from his face. Each strike missed him but slammed into the plains behind him.
BOOM.
BOOM.
BOOOOM.
The land cracked open. Hills trembled. The highlands in the distance shook as if an earthquake had passed through them. Dust and stones shot into the sky.
Ethan pushed himself up and jumped back, barely steadying his breath. Simon was already moving again.
Simon did not rush blindly. His eyes stayed cold and calculating. His shoulders dipped slightly, then rose again. His feet shifted in strange patterns. His fists came out slow, then fast, then slow again.
Faints.
Tricks.
Baits.
Simon punched left. Ethan raised his guard. Simon twisted his wrist mid strike and turned it into an elbow aimed at Ethan’s ribs. Ethan blocked but the force still hurled him sideways.
CRACK.
Ethan slid across the ground and dug his boots in. Before he could stop, Simon appeared above him and smashed a downward punch.
Ethan rolled again. The punch struck the earth.
BOOOOOOM.
The plains collapsed inward. A massive crater formed. Rocks melted into dust from the pressure.
Simon stepped through the smoke calmly. His punches did not stop. He attacked with clean movements, ruthless timing, and deadly precision. He swept Ethan’s legs. He followed with a knee. He twisted and struck again.
Ethan blocked, dodged, and countered, but he was slowly losing ground.
In pure hand to hand combat, Simon was superior.
Ethan knew it.And yet, his heart was pounding with excitement.
Each blow sharpened his senses. Each mistake burned itself into his muscles. He felt alive. He felt like a blade being hammered into shape.
“This is it,” Ethan thought. “This is the level.”
Simon drove a fist into Ethan’s shoulder. The impact shattered armor plates. Ethan grunted and staggered. Simon followed with a spinning back fist.
Ethan ducked down dodging the punch that passed over his head and smashed into a cliff behind him.
BOOM.
The cliff vanished.
Ethan leapt backward, panting. Blood ran from the corner of his mouth. His eyes burned with focus, not fear.
Simon tilted his head slightly. “You are slowing.”
Ethan smiled faintly. “I’m learning.”
Simon did not answer. He raised his fist and lightning crawled over his knuckles. The ground beneath him cracked and lifted.
He slammed his fist into the earth.
BOOOOM.
Lightning exploded outward, tearing dirt and rocks into the air. A wall of dust swallowed everything.
Ethan raised his arms and covered his eyes. The lightning burned his skin. The dirt cut into him like blades.
Then it happened. From within the smoke, Simon appeared. He was already behind Ethan.
His fist came forward with terrifying speed.
BANG.
The punch landed clean.
Simon’s expression twisted.
It felt like punching a massive metal wall.
And as the smoke cleared,Simon’s eyes narrowed.
Scales had spread across Ethan’s arms. Dark, overlapping, and glowing faintly. They looked ancient and heavy. They absorbed the impact and trembled under the force but did not break.
Before Simon could react, Ethan moved.Ethan twisted his hips and stepped in.
His fist came forward, smoldering with heat and power.
BOOOOOOM.
