Chapter 860: The First Plan
Chapter 860: The First Plan
They ate in silence.
Kent knew that she would start asking questions soon, so he didn’t bother asking her any questions throughout the meal.
The silent treatment wasn’t him being petty; instead, he merely wanted to see how far Adina would go to keep her distance from him.
After all, Kent came there for a mission, and knowing his life was linked to hers wasn’t something he took lightly. If he were there on his own accord, he wouldn’t mind teasing her in an attempt to get her to open up.
Even so, Kent had already made plans to get them closer to their destination, so being friendly to her was but a side quest he wasn’t planning on taking seriously.
After they were done eating, Kent took out a map and made it hover before him.
“This is the map of the Valley of Torture. Don’t ask me how I got it, for I don’t plan on telling you. That said, as you can see, there are three different color markings on it.
The black ones are the various mercenary groups sent after you for reasons I don’t know, and I don’t plan on asking if you don’t want to tell me.
The green marks are the beasts above the Spirit Sovereign stage. As you can see, there are thousands of them. We can’t reach our destination without crossing paths with them, so be prepared for some significant battles.
As for the red marks, they indicate the naturally hazardous areas in this valley. There are six of them, and our only hope of getting to the teleportation mountains is to use these six places to our advantage.
I know they are dangerous, but I also believe that with our combined brains, we can reach our destination.
Though I have to say, our only chance at getting to the teleportation mountains rests on whether we are several steps ahead of our enemies.
I have some plans, but while killing up to Spirit Sovereign can be managed by me, the Spirit Lords aren’t something I can easily handle, so we’d better be careful, and the only way to become careful is if there is some level of trust between us.
I don’t expect you to become best friends with me or laugh with me. None of that is important if you are not comfortable doing so.
However, you should trust me enough to follow the plans I have in mind. If you can do that, then I believe we will be getting to our destination soon enough.”
Adina didn’t say anything and only continued to stare at Kent.
It was as if she didn’t know how to speak, which was annoying considering Kent wanted to end the mission much faster and return to his training.
This isn’t the tower time, so a day spent on the outside is 24 days he could have spent improving himself and making up for the strength he was still lacking compared to the perfect self he faced in the “perfect chamber.”
“How did you know my name and who I was?” Adina suddenly asked, looking coldly at Kent. She still didn’t know why Kent knew she was the Sin of Lust or, more importantly, her name.
“I won’t sugarcoat it, so listen carefully. I know things. I know you, and while I want to waste time telling you how I know all about you, I would rather spend that saving you.
You needed help, and instead of being truthful, you chose to lie. That wasn’t a good sign of someone who needed saving. So I used my own way to figure out who you are and what you are.”
“Then who sent you?” Adina asked again.
“I have no idea. However, you should know that, in a rather unexpected and annoying way, getting you to your destination is a must if I want to get back to my life.
So, for the sake of me getting my life back, work with me and let’s both leave here in one piece.”
Adina narrowed her gaze at Kent for a full minute before a small sigh escaped her lips. She would love to run, but she had listened to what Kent said and knew that to get to their destination, they indeed had to work together.
“I will work with you. But should you try anything funny, I will kill you, and trust me, I can kill you,” Adina warned.
Kent smirked, looking at her with a smile on his face. “Trust me, the last thing I want is to waste time doing unnecessary things. So be assured, I don’t plan on doing anything funny. Getting you to your destination is my priority.”
Kent gently tapped the map, and a 3D projection of it appeared, startling Adina. Kent ignored her shocked expression and focused on the map instead.
“This is the topography of the entire valley.” Kent pointed to a range of mountains on the right side of the map. “That place is our destination, and as you can see, it is millions of miles away.
Of course, we are cultivators, meaning we can travel several miles a day. However, even so, if we were to fly to the teleportation mountains every day nonstop, it would still take us two weeks to get there.
But we can’t do that, considering people are looking for you and beasts lurking in the shadows.
So we first have to take it slow, and I have already found a path that will lead us several thousand miles away from here.”
The map zoomed in on a marked location. “This is our next destination. It is a lightning mountain, and to get there, we have to move through this lane. It has some beasts, but none are at a stage we can’t handle if we work together.”
Adina studied the map for a few seconds before asking a question. “Is there a reason why we have to go through the Lightning Peak?”
Kent nodded. “There is something there I need. If things go as planned, we will be several miles away from that place in a few days. But even if we don’t get what I am after, that place is a good spot to lure the nearest team into an ambush.
Remember, the only reason we have to be extra cautious is because of the mercenary teams after you. The beasts can be dodged or dealt with, so we have to use every chance we can get to handle them.
But the people, on the other hand, are crafty, so we must be extra careful. Even so, I plan on killing them all if I get the chance, so prepare in advance for some major battles.”
Adina nodded, knowing the plan was indeed sound.
Though Kent didn’t tell her what he was after, causing them to go through the Lightning Peak, she knew, given his resourcefulness, which was now evident, they would indeed be getting close to their destination by following the path he had made.
“When do we leave?” she asked.
“Now.”
A few minutes later, they were on their way to their first destination among many leading to the teleportation mountains.
