Chapter 3247: You Can’t Abandon Me
Chapter 3247: You Can’t Abandon Me
Crossbow Lar used up all the courage of his life to say, “You can’t abandon me.”
Ning Shu nodded. “Got it. We’re companions, I won’t abandon you. That’s how it should be. Whatever you’re thinking, just tell me directly. If you don’t speak up, how would I know what you’re thinking?”
Even if you spend all your time guessing, you wouldn’t necessarily get the answer. Bottling it up wouldn’t solve anything. Sooner or later, it’d explode.
Nicole and Crossbow Lar both endured everything, thinking they were doing the right thing for each other, sacrificing for each other.
But in the end, they both died.
If it were Ning Shu, and someone held in a fart, she’d take a stick and beat it out of them.
You have a mouth, so use it to speak. Not to win arguments, but to say what needs to be said. Otherwise, what was the point of a mouth?
“Repeat what you just said,” Ning Shu said to Crossbow Lar.
“Whether you’re strong or not isn’t for you to decide. If I think you’re strong, that’s enough. You’re your own individual. Don’t compare yourself with other weapons.”
Everyone stumbled through life, starting off weak.Heroes weren’t judged by origin. Even if you were from the garbage heap or recycling station—so what? You could still turn your life around.
These big truths probably wouldn’t help Crossbow Lar much either.
Crossbow Lar opened his mouth and repeated, “Even if you get new companions, you can’t abandon me.”
Ning Shu nodded. “Very good.”
Ning Shu and Crossbow Lar conversed under the blood-red moonlight, opening up to each other a little.
Everyone has their misfortunes and worries. What can you do? You could only seek joy despite the suffering.
A moon beast came toward them. Ning Shu smiled, “Crossbow Lar.”
Crossbow Lar immediately transformed into a crossbow. Ning Shu grabbed it and fired an arrow at the moon beast’s eye.
Golden-yellow liquid spurted from the moon beast’s eye. It howled in pain and charged at Ning Shu.
Ning Shu leapt up and kicked the moon beast in the jaw, knocking it completely over.
Crossbow Lar: …
Ning Shu jumped onto the moon beast’s back and shot an arrow into its head.
The black short arrow pierced through the yellow-white scales and went straight through its skull.
The moon beast whimpered and collapsed.
The crossbow in her hand turned back into human form. Ning Shu turned towards Crossbow Lar and raised her hand for a high five.
Crossbow Lar looked at Ning Shu in confusion. Ning Shu said, “From now on, every time we kill a moon beast or overcome a hardship, we’ll high-five to celebrate.”
Crossbow Lar hesitated, then raised his hand and clapped palms with Ning Shu.
“Besides high-fiving, we need to record how many moon beasts we kill each day. After a month, we’ll know how many times we’ve escaped death from their jaws.”
Ning Shu said to Crossbow Lar. Life was precious. The whole ‘sacrifice myself for someone else’ mindset was, in Ning Shu’s opinion, terrifying.
Humans were selfish by nature. Loving yourself was normal. If you didn’t even love or cherish yourself, how could you love others?
Maybe it was love, but imagine how painful and hopeless it was for the ones left behind.
Actually, Ning Shu wanted to say—if love was painful, it was because you’re loving the wrong person.
But right now, Nicole had only just picked up Crossbow Lar. It was still possible to correct his temperament.
In this ambiguous relationship, both of them were doing things wrong. Being honest was the best solution.
That whole attitude of “I won’t say it, but you should understand my good intentions”—
Oh please, understand what?
No one was a mind reader.
Crossbow Lar said, “I don’t have a notebook, but I’ll keep count in my head.”
“Oh, then do that.”
Crossbow Lar gave a quiet “mm,” then pulled out one of his arrows and split open the moon beast’s skull, retrieving a thumb-sized beast core.
These moon beasts were unintelligent creatures that bred like locusts.
Crossbow Lar wiped the core clean and stored it inside his body.
