Chapter 3248: We Protect Each Other

Chapter 3248: We Protect Each Other

Tonight’s moonlight was especially blood-red, as if the land had been splashed with blood. It was seriously eerie.

“Let’s hurry to the town.” Ning Shu released her spiritual consciousness to check if any moon beasts were nearby.

“Follow me,” Ning Shu said to the young man.

Crossbow Lar: “It should be me protecting you.”

“We protect each other.”

Everything looked blood-red. Ning Shu felt her eyes blurring, as if a red cloth had been laid over them.

She couldn’t help rubbing her eyes.

Whenever her spiritual consciousness touched a moon beast, Ning Shu would go around them.

Crossbow Lar dabbed some wild grass juice on Ning Shu.

It had a fishy stench and was seriously unpleasant.

They were still far from the town and wouldn’t reach it anytime soon.

The blood-red moonlight was stirring up the moon beasts—whether out of excitement or something else.

Crossbow Lar said, “How about we rest for a bit?”

Ning Shu nodded. “Sure, let’s get up on a tree.”

Lying on a tree branch wasn’t bad.

Ning Shu hugged the tree and started climbing. With her strength, one stomp and a bit of energy, and she could easily jump up the trunk—but she had to take into consideration Crossbow Lar’s fragile glass heart.

You’re so strong, you should find a strong weapon.

Sometimes, mismatched paces were just that annoying.

Crossbow Lar saw Ning Shu climbing and carried her up the tree, only letting go once they were up.

Ning Shu found a thick branch and lay down on it, her legs swinging in the air.

Seeing Crossbow Lar staring at her, Ning Shu said, “You should rest too. Don’t keep your face all tense all the time.”

Crossbow Lar sat down. His bangs covered his eyes, but faint glimmers of light peeked through as he looked at Ning Shu.

“What are you looking at?” Ning Shu asked.

The one who saved him was the entrustor—not her.

It wouldn’t do to break up their destined love.

“You, you seem…” Crossbow Lar stammered. He was a little scared to say it, afraid that Ning Shu would get mad.

“Just say it. Speak.” Ning Shu’s legs hung from the tree branch, swinging lazily, a picture of relaxation.

“You seem different.” Crossbow Lar said. The one who picked him up at the recycling station was a shy young girl.

She would thank him in a soft, sweet voice and blush.

But this girl was calm, composed, mature, and wise.

The things she had said earlier—Nicole would never say that.

Crossbow Lar really wanted to say, give me back my girl.

Ning Shu sat up. “I’m the same.”

“Not the same.” Crossbow Lar said weakly.

“How am I different?” Ning Shu glanced sideways at him.

Even that look was different. That tone—this wasn’t his girl.

“You’re really not the same.” Crossbow Lar felt like his heart was trembling.

Ning Shu nodded. “Exactly. Just say what’s on your mind.”

Crossbow Lar: “Why did you suddenly become like this?”

“I’m Nicole’s other personality.” Ning Shu flicked her hair and said blandly.

Crossbow Lar had a question mark on his face as he looked at Ning Shu, clearly not understanding what she meant.

He really looked pitiful.
