"Xue’er, why are you up so early?"

Qin Xue had just come out of her sister’s room, and she saw Chu Molin coming out of the kitchen, back from his run.

"Couldn’t sleep, so I got up. Where’s Xiao Yu?" Qin Xue didn’t see her brother; they went out together, but only one returned.

"He saw some fried dough sticks and wanted to buy some, told me to come back first." Chu Molin initially went out together, but the little brother-in-law let him come back to notify his sister that he’s buying breakfast, so no cooking was needed. Who would’ve thought, when he returned and checked the pot, breakfast was already cooked and didn’t need a shout.

If there’s leftover, it can be eaten at noon, anyway, it wouldn’t spoil, it’s just cold to eat later.

"Alright then, if there’s leftover we can eat it next time." Qin Xue thought the same as Molin, because she cooked quite a bit today, it was both cooked and bought, it definitely couldn’t be finished. They could eat the fried dough sticks for now, and save the porridge. In fact, Qin Xue enjoyed cold porridge more, but there was never enough time to wait for it to cool in the mornings, so she always ate it hot, especially in the scorching weather, a bowl of cold porridge with a pickled pepper was the best.

This pickled colorful pepper was easier to make than other pickles. Pick the colorful peppers, wash them, dry them, then place them in a clean, dry jar, add peeled garlic cloves, pour soy sauce over the peppers until submerged, then after a month or two of soaking, they’re ready to eat.

The main points to note with pickled peppers are avoiding water and oil, or else they’ll rot. As long as you pay attention to these, congratulations, your pickled peppers will succeed.

Qin Xue knew this because she had a southern classmate who informed her about the small peppers that were abundant there, and both Chu Molin and her brother-in-law loved spicy food, so she could make some, otherwise, there’d be nothing to eat due to laziness. If you don’t make it, of course, there’s nothing to eat.

Qin Xue wasn’t sure why there were colorful peppers in her space, she hadn’t noticed them before and only recently discovered them, which made her extremely happy. She had long talked about pickling some to eat but never found the time to do it.
