Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 1090 - 1090: Dragon of Destruction

Holone turned to the side and saw Artemisia and Beatrix still sitting down, with Beatrix scrolling through her phone and Artemisia tapping away at her tablet, barely looking up.

The sight was one that left her totally confused.

“Why are you two just sitting here?! He’s losing!”

At her words, Artemisia lifted her gaze, turned to the sky where Evan and Ukath were clashing, then lowered her eyes back to the tablet in her hands and replied, “Evan is still playing around.”

Just then, several Level 800 spirits charged into the sky, weapons drawn, clearly intending to intervene and assist Evan in the ongoing battle.

Beatrix glanced up from her phone at that moment and sighed at the sight. Turning her gaze toward the group of commanding officers, she spoke, “Tell your men not to interrupt Evan—You know what? Fuck it.”

Giving up halfway through, she turned back to the battlefield, raised her hand, and activated her Unique Skill. The entire airspace instantly fell under her Chrono-Space Dominion, and without giving them a chance to resist, she forcefully teleported every one of them back to the ground.

Her actions left Holone and the other spirits stunned.

“Why?! They were trying to help him!” one of them exclaimed.

Beatrix turned toward the spirit who had spoken and replied calmly, “Did you not hear Artemisia? Evan is still playing around.”

To everyone else watching, what she said made absolutely no sense. Evan was being pummelled through the air, pushed further and further back. There was no sign that he had the upper hand, and what they were seeing didn’t match the calm confidence Beatrix and Artemisia displayed.

Beatrix sighed, pressing her fingers to her temple, then spoke aloud. “Hey, Caeril. You’re watching through Holone’s glasses, aren’t you? I’m pretty sure you remember Evan saying his strongest element is fire. So tell me, since the fight began, have you seen fire?”

As she said that, another squadron of spirits took to the air, clearly intent on trying again to assist Evan. Beatrix waved her hand, space folded, and she teleported them all back to the ground without even glancing up.

Her question made the spirits blink, their eyes gradually widening with realisation. Not once since the battle with Ukath began had Evan used flames, only ice and lightning.

Seeing the realisation dawn on their faces, Beatrix followed up, “As far as we haven’t seen fire, then Evan is still playing around.”

Just as she finished speaking, Ukath raised both hands and flooded the atmosphere with intense gravitational law energy, uprooting multiple buildings from the land below.

The instant they rose into the air, he sent them flying toward Evan, slamming into him from all directions and compressing him at the centre.

Immediately after, Ukath drew even more law energy into his body, his magic power surging as he activated his strongest technique, the one that earned him his title.

“Titan Punch!”

The mass of gravitational law energy crashed into the heap of debris surrounding Evan, instantly flattening the entire mass into the ground.

A thunderous explosion followed as the impact shattered the earth beneath, sending a towering column of smoke and fire billowing high into the sky.

The devil forces instantly erupted into cheers, convinced that the destruction-wielding enemy had finally been eliminated.

Breathing heavily, Ukath checked his dwindling magic power and frowned.

‘Damn it. I’ve used up too much…’

Ukath considered how his descent to the ground might affect the rising morale of his army and decided to take one final action to prevent it from dropping.

He immediately turned his gaze toward the hilltop command building, beat his wings, and shot forward, charging straight for it.

Several spirits flew up to intercept him mid-flight, attempting to halt his advance, but with a single gesture, Ukath manipulated gravity and flung them aside like leaves caught in a storm.

Then, waving his arm, he lifted multiple buildings from the ruined cityscape below.

Just as he was about to fling them toward the hilltop, intent on obliterating everything standing there, and as the spirits inside the command room roused their magic power, preparing to act, something suddenly burst out from the cloud of smoke behind him.

Before everyone’s eyes, a massive maw clamped down on the devil, sharp fangs sinking into his body with ease, as though his durability didn’t exist.

The jaws snapped shut, breaking bones, tearing through organs, and drawing out a blood-curdling scream as blood splattered.

His control over gravity slipped and the buildings Ukath had lifted fell back to the ground, but before they could fully land, an overwhelming gravitational force pulled them back into the air, compressing them into a single point and crushing them into a dense sphere, which was then hurled across the city, crashing into the rear lines of the devil army with explosive impact.

The force of the massive orb flying through the air scattered part of the smoke cloud, revealing to everyone exactly what had happened.

A colossal dragon, roughly 20 meters in length from head to tail with a wingspan exceeding 40 meters, held Ukath’s limp body in its jaws.

At the sight, even Artemisia dropped her stylus in shock, while Beatrix equally stunned, stared slack-jawed at the sight, unable to look away.

The dragon flung the blood-soaked devil high into the air, spat out the blood that had filled its mouth, and spoke in a voice both girls instantly recognised.

[Tsk… Disgusting.]

Then, the dragon looked up to the airborne Ukath, magic power gathering rapidly in his maw before releasing a powerful breath of flames that struck the devil mid-air, blasting him into scorched, scattered pieces right before the eyes of all present.

For a moment, the battlefield was gripped by silence.

The devils, many of whom were mid-cheer, froze in place, their faces blank with disbelief as they stared at the smouldering remains of their Vice-Commander.

And then, the white dragon who had just reduced their commander to charred remnants in a single attack, turned his gaze and spoke aloud.

[Track down—Lock on. Distant Strike. Elemental Weapon Projection. Hydra x12.]

With those words, several skills were activated in succession, and the sky was once again filled with elemental law energy constructed weapons that rained down at blinding speeds, tearing through the ranks of devils below.

Flaming weapons shot down devils mid-flight, while others struck the ground forces, bursting apart with thunderous explosions that left charred craters in their wake.

From a mass of condensed magic power behind him, giant serpentine dragons emerged, each one unleashing destructive breaths that scorched the rear lines of the invading devil army.

The spirits, seeing this, erupted into cheers. The sudden reversal of fortune reignited their morale, and as the devils began to retreat in panic and disarray after their leader’s fall, the spirits pursued them with renewed ferocity, cutting them down without hesitation.

Amidst this chaos, the white dragon turned his gaze toward the command centre and raised his right hand, giving a casual thumbs up—a gesture unmistakably Evan’s—before laughing and turning back toward the battlefield.

Flapping his wings, he chased down the fleeing devils, landing in the midst of the retreating army with a sweeping tail strike that sent dozens hurtling through the air.

A single flap of his wings produced enough pressure to knock dozens more off their feet, and with his maw wide open, he unleashed a torrent of flames that incinerated scores of them before they could even scream.

He lunged forward, jaws clamping down on any Level 700 devil within reach and blasting them point-blank with his breath attacks, setting them ablaze and tossing them aside.

It didn’t matter if they didn’t die instantly. As long as they were burning, they were no longer a threat.

He charged after another group, repeating the process, tearing through the fleeing forces and rapidly thinning their numbers.

At the sight unfolding through the live feed from Holone’s camera glasses, the Elder Spirits gathered in Tír Síorghlas sat frozen in collective silence.

None spoke at first, their gazes locked on the screen that displayed the massive white dragon tearing through the retreating devils like a natural disaster.

Eventually, one of them turned slowly toward Caeril and asked, “I thought he was supposed to be only half-dragon?”

Caeril, blinking in confusion, replied, “I thought he was half-dragon too.”

Clearly, none of them had expected Evan to suddenly unveil a full-body dragon transformation.

And judging by how even Artemisia, whose expression they hadn’t seen change once in the past three days, looked completely dumbfounded, this was news to her as well.

Beatrix, seated beside her, thought back to the moment when Evan had turned and given that thumbs up, and shook her head with a sigh.

“…He just wanted to reveal his new dragon form in grand style.”

Months of spending time together with Evan had allowed her to instantly understand exactly why he had done everything he’d just done over the past few minutes. From the way he’d let the fight drag on, to the moment he’d chosen to transform, Beatrix could tell that everything had been intentional.

She shifted her gaze, watching as the spirit soldiers cheered for the white dragon leading the charge against the retreating devils, many of them ignoring their commanding officers’ orders not to pursue too far.

They only came to a halt when Evan himself stopped and turned back, beginning his return flight towards the city.

As he flew, the spirits erupted in cheers once again. Chants of “White Dragon” and “Dragon of Destruction” echoed across every terrace of the city.

Watching all of this unfold through the live feed from Holone’s glasses, Caeril shook his head silently, fully aware that Evan had already captured the hearts of the soldiers.

News of this would undoubtedly spread to other cities, and the reinforcements from Tír Síorghlas would carry word back to their comrades, spreading Evan’s name there as well and skyrocketing his fame.

He had quite literally appeared out of nowhere and single-handedly taken down an Infernal Devil Vice-Commander. It would honestly be more surprising if he didn’t become popular immediately.

‘If only they knew that just days ago, he had held all their lives hostage…’

The Elder Spirit sighed and shook his head as he looked back up at the screen in front of him, where the dragon they were all cheering for had landed on the remains of the city wall and turned his gaze toward the chasm.

Evan could feel the intense elemental law energy radiating from the chasm’s wall, and with a weary sigh, he thought to himself.

‘That damn thing should just close already.’

Right now, all Evan wanted was for the Chasm to close up so he could meet up with Arthur, who could get them out of this dimension with ease.

But that wish wouldn’t be fulfilled for another nine long weeks.
