Chapter 821 - 821: Seraphael’s Victory? [Monthly Bonus 2]
The Scythe wielding armoured knight danced through the fray, its weapon spinning in graceful, deadly arcs which harvested the lives of the CelSols with each fluid motion.
The bayonet knight stood back; its weapon firing bullets of condensed demonic flames. Each shot was a guaranteed kill, burning through the CelSols’ defences and flesh alike.
Adventurers and mercenary ‘faithful’ attacked with all their might, managing to defeat one of the armoured knights through sheer numbers and coordinated effort.
Their joy, however, was short-lived.
In a flash, they were all teleported right into the path of the bayonet knight’s bullets, and the deadly projectiles blasted them towards the staff knight, who beat them down brutally.
One of the CelSol commanders tried to defeat the Warhammer knight with their celestial energy attacks. Their beams of holy light and blasts of celestial power seemed effective until gravity suddenly inverted, sending them hurtling to the ceiling.
They didn’t get to reach the ceiling, as the Warhammer and club knights stepped in, bashing them out of the air and sending them flying in different directions.
Space warped mid-way and some of the CelSols were teleported into the trajectory of others. They collided with each other mid-air, their bodies entangled in a chaotic tumble.
The bayonet knight took advantage of their disarray, shooting them down one by one with rapid-fire, each bullet finding its mark with deadly precision.
[ENOUGH!!]
Seraphael’s enraged voice boomed across the entire Bounded Field, a deafening roar that reverberated through the vast chamber. A burst of celestial energy surged from his being, releasing shockwaves that knocked all the armoured knights towards the walls.
A pillar of silver light erupted from Seraphael, shooting up to the ceiling. Roselia frowned as she felt her Bounded Field’s spatial barrier crack under the pressure. The light intensified, bathing the room in a blinding radiance, as Seraphael’s body floated upwards, his wounds and armour healing in the brilliant glow.
[RELEASE THE TRUE NATURE OF MY SOUL! TRUE NAME LIBERATION… RELEASE!!!]
Without hesitation, the celestial unleashed his true form, drawing upon the powers of his angelic bloodline to enhance his celestial powers.
His body transformed, growing to an imposing seven feet tall. Three pairs of majestic silver wings unfurled from his back, each feather glistening with ethereal light.
[You Dare To Push ME To These Lengths, Do You?]
Power surged from his form, pouring into the bodies of the remaining CelSols and ‘faithful’. Their severe injuries healed in an instant, and their health and stamina restored. Fear evaporated from their hearts, replaced by an unshakable confidence.
[Then I will teach you a lesson with the force of the ‘Celestial Lord of Faith’!]
Seraphael’s voice echoed with authority and his eyes released arcs of radiant light.
[Go forth, my Faithful!]
Watching the faithful and the CelSols, now revitalized, charging towards her, Roselia, seated atop her throne had a look of irritation on her face.
They thought this was because she saw their power as a threat and their confidence increased, however, the reality could not be any further from the truth.
‘Are they stupid? I can understand the Aidosians, and maybe the CelSols…but this Fallen Deity must be dumb.
Does he forget I am the ‘Deadly Sin of Pride’? or did he lose his memories alongside his deity powers?’
Her thoughts were not unwarranted, as both the CelSols and Seraphael were filled with confidence that bordered on arrogance as they were able to defeat her armoured knights thanks to the power of Seraphael’s new form.
But showing ‘Pride’ or ‘Arrogance’ before her who was the Incarnation of the Sin itself, was the highest form of folly.
After all, she could feed on their pride and become even more powerful!
Roselia sighed and commanded her Knights, and their weapons blurred, swung in deadly supersonic arcs.
Groups of CelSols coordinated their attacks, their celestial energy combining to overpower the metallic guardians.
Boosted by Seraphael’s power, the armoured knights fell under the CelSols’ assault, and with each defeat, the assailants drew closer to Roselia’s throne.
Roselia increased the gravity, intending to crush the invaders under its immense force, but Seraphael countered with his powerful energy, nullifying the effect.
She attempted to warp space, but he disrupted her efforts with his own limited spatial power. When she rained down lightning and flames, Seraphael spread his wings, creating celestial energy shields that absorbed her attacks.
The battle grew fierce as the CelSols charged up the throne’s stairs with Roselia continuing to manipulate gravity, trying to force them to stumble and fall; but they pressed on.
Despite their progress, she did not rise from her throne or draw her weapon, her irritation growing more palpable with each passing moment.
‘Could it be that she needs to remain on that throne to use her gravity and space manipulation? It makes no sense why she wouldn’t stand and draw her sword even after we’ve gotten this close.’
Such a thought crossed Seraphael’s mind and to test his theory, he conjured a giant Tier 5 magic circle and unleashed a powerful ice spell. Jagged icicles, shimmering with celestial energy, hurtled towards Roselia.
She slammed the armrest of her throne, releasing a wave of demonic flames and intensified gravity to counter the spell. Her right hand clenched the armrest tightly as she waved her left hand downward, sending a hail of flaming rocks at them, but Seraphael blocked the attack and retaliated with a beam of light aimed at her head.
Roselia bent the magical light off course with a gravity shield, but another beam followed swiftly, and she couldn’t deflect it in time.
She tilted her head to avoid and it grazed her ear, drawing blood. Instinctively, she raised her hand to her ear, momentarily lifting her hand off the throne and in that moment Seraphael felt the force of her gravity pressure weaken.
‘This… the throne is indeed tied to her power! The “Omnipotent” part might be her arrogance as the Sin of Pride, but the “Throne” is key!’
An armoured knight charged at him as he thought this, but Seraphael destroyed it with ease, then sent his CelSol commanders charging forward.
Roselia conjured a giant sword of demonic flames and swung it at them, but Seraphael responded with a sword of silver celestial light, shattering her blade effortlessly.
He stabbed towards her, and though she conjured a gravity barrier, it couldn’t withstand the celestial energy. The barrier shattered, and Roselia twisted her body to dodge the incoming blade, momentarily lifting herself off the throne.
In that brief moment, the armoured knights went still, and her gravity pressure vanished.
Seraphael seized the opportunity.
With blinding speed, he charged forward, conjuring a blade of silver celestial energy, forcing Roselia to draw Vanitas, infusing it with demonic flames, and meeting his attack.
A fierce clash ensued, Seraphael’s blade dancing with light as he primed each strike to keep Roselia from reclaiming her throne.
She parried with Vanitas, flames trailing behind each swing, but his celestial energy was relentless. He knocked her weapon from her hand and, faster than she could react, he drove his sword into her torso, pinning her to the throne behind her.
Seraphael summoned five more swords and, with ruthless precision, stabbed her in the chest, each blade piercing through her form and into the throne.
“Gurg!”
Blood spurted from Roselia’s lips as she glared at Seraphael with a hatred so fierce it seemed to burn. She opened her mouth, cursing him in a demonic language, but Seraphael’s celestial light rebuffed her curse, dispersing it into harmless wisps of dark energy.
Her curse broken, the last dredges of life slipped away from her, her eyes dimming to lifelessness.
Immediately, cracks began to spiderweb through the space around Seraphael.
The armoured knights shattered into pieces, dissipating into demonic light, and the boundary walls of the Bounded Field crumbled.
With its caster dead, the ‘Throne Of The Omnipotent’ was destroyed, and Seraphael found himself back in Knidyma where his remaining CelSols and ‘faithful’ greeted him with exultant cheers.
“Lord Seraphael has vanquished the devil!”
“Praise be to the Celestial Lord!”
“Our god is victorious!”
Seraphael looked around at the ruined city, flames burning everywhere and saw that the Demon of Greed had been pushed to the brink of defeat.
The civilians, wielding their hoes and cutlasses, joined in celebration, their voices rising in a jubilant chorus.
Smirking, Seraphael raised his hand and pointed it at Nadarus, who stared at him wide-eyed, shocked still at the thought that his sister had been defeated.
Without hesitation, Seraphael unleashed a powerful beam containing half his maximum celestial energy.
Nadarus tried to block with Geomantic Wrath, forming crystal shields, but the CelSols attacked him from the sides, wounding him and causing him to lose his grip on his skill.
This caused the shields to turn fragile and shatter under the combined assault.
Without hesitation, he tried to activate his Incarnation of Greed’s Partial Avatar, but Seraphael’s beam was faster.
It pierced through the half-formed demonic energy mass, hitting Nadarus and sending him hurtling through the ruined city, his torso destroyed in an explosion of blood and flesh.
With its master dead, the demon’s great sword dissipated into demonic energy that melded into the atmosphere.
With the Demon of Greed vanquished, the faithful cheered loudly.
Seraphael landed on the ground, returning to his normal form and four of his six wings disappeared. He was hit with a wave of weakness, but he didn’t let it show, maintaining a confident exterior for his faithful to see.
Turning to a CelSol commander, he spoke.
[Contact Faulin. Tell him that I’m done here.]
The CelSol commander nodded, and Seraphael turned his gaze back to the many faithful bowing before him, his smile widening as he muttered to himself.
[Those Deadly Sin Demons weren’t much in the end.]
As Seraphael spoke, a cold and detached voice replied, slicing through the air with chilling clarity.
“Oh? Is that so?”
[?!]
Seraphael turned around in alarm, his eyes widening in shock. The voice he just heard was unmistakably that of the demoness he had supposedly just killed.
By the time he completed a full revolution, the reality he was seeing began to unfurl in an epic, disorienting spectacle.
The surroundings around him shifted and blurred, revealing the scene of Roselia’s Bounded Field once more. There she was, seated on her throne, her chin propped up on her palm, looking at him with disdain as if he were a lesser life form.
“And here I expected much from you… Don’t you know not to take your eyes off an opponent?”
[wha-?!]
Seraphael’s voice was abruptly cut off as the giant Warhammer knight stepped forward and swung its massive weapon.
**BAAMM!!!!
The force of the blow knocked him sideways, sending him hurtling into the wall with bone-crushing violence. He screamed in pain, coughing up blood as he violently slammed into the unyielding surface.
The other armoured knights advanced, with dense demonic energy swirling around their weapons as they began slaughtering the CelSols and ‘faithful’ who were still in shock by the sudden turn of events.
The sword-wielding knight sliced through several CelSols with a single slash, while the flail knight’s weapon whipped through the air, crushing bones and armour alike. The spear-wielding knight impaled five at once, lifting them off the ground before tossing them aside like ragdolls.
Meanwhile, Seraphael’s body slumped to the ground, his bloodied eyes wide with disbelief as he looked up at Roselia.
[..h-how?]
He was certain he had defeated her, sure he had killed her brother. The sensations of stabbing her with his blades felt real.
It was definitely not an illusion—it was reality. So how could this be?
[..reality?]
His eyes widened in shock as a distant memory surfaced. He recalled a similar phenomenon from over a hundred thousand years ago, during a war where the Celestials aided the elves against a dragon-ruled planet.
There was someone who had wielded a similar power against the dragons, and it was what allowed them to win that war.
[…elven emperor… Falael…]
That name of the deceased Race Emperor escaped his lips, and Roselia raised an eyebrow in question.
“Why are you calling my predecessor’s name?”
A moment later, understanding dawned on her, and she continued, her calm voice ringing out across the large chamber.
“Oh, you finally realized.”
Indeed, Seraphael had finally understood.
The armoured knights, the gravity, and space manipulation—these were not the true abilities of her Bounded Field. They were merely add-ons.
Roselia’s Bounded Field had one simple, yet terrifying ability: Amplification and Enhancement.
The answer to the question of exactly what was being amplified and enhanced lay in the range and potency of her power—the power of all existences bearing the title of ‘Deadly Sin of Pride’.
[…reality warping!]
