Chapter 820 - 820: Dumbest Ways to Die
[Bounded Field: Paradise of the Faithful!]
Seraphael’s celestial energy flared out in an expanding wave, weaving an intricate lattice of light around the ruined city. The boundary lines glowed with an intense brilliance, encircling the area with a radiant halo.
The devastation of the city melted away, replaced by verdant meadows and serene landscapes. Lush, rolling hills carpeted with wildflowers extended as far as the eye could see.
Crystal-clear streams wound their way through the fields, their waters sparkling in the gentle sunlight. Majestic trees with leaves of gold and silver formed canopies overhead, their branches swaying in a perpetual, soothing breeze.
Birds with iridescent plumage flitted about, singing melodies that resonated with the souls of those within.
In this ‘Paradise,’ the air was imbued with a sense of tranquillity, and soft, ethereal light bathed everything in a warm glow.
The two demon siblings found themselves thrust into this transformed environment, their surroundings now a deceptive vision of serenity.
“…damn.”
Nadarus cursed, taking one step away from Roselia. He glanced at her expression, and the lack of one on her face made him quickly take three steps away from her.
Seraphael floated above, his wings outstretched, exuding a pressuring aura. With a triumphant expression, he raised his hand, and the ground beneath the siblings began to pulse with energy.
From the serene earth, ethereal chains of light erupted, snaking toward them with alarming speed. These chains, glowing with celestial energy, aimed to bind and restrict their movements.
The streams transformed into raging torrents of water, lashing out at them with fierce intent.
[In this Paradise, the wicked shall find no solace. My faithful, be emboldened by the divine grace bestowed upon you!]
Seraphael declared with grand gestures, eliciting cheers from the thousands of CelSols and other combatants within the Bounded Field.
The FCD had only brought in the strongest CelSols, and the highest levelled adventurers, soldiers and mercenaries.
Still, they numbered in the thousands, and it was only because of his nature as a Fallen Deity that he could easily bring this many people in at once.
Despite this, Nadarus and Roselia were not scared.
Nadarus, in particular, only looked at Seraphael with pity in his eyes, and the FCD did not miss this. Frowning, he raised his palm to halt the chains shooting toward the siblings, but before he could speak, Nadarus interjected.
“Dude, you fucked up.
It’s even sadder as you don’t know how you fucked up.”
Seeing the confused expression on the Celestial’s face, Nadarus held up his left hand, putting a finger down for each thing he called out as he explained.
“Things you should NEVER do to my sister.
1. Disturb her while she’s reading.
2. Touch her books without her permission.
3. Touch her books while she’s reading them.
4. Put her in your Bounded Field.
They all easily make the Top 10 Dumbest Ways to Die. You just guaranteed yourself soul damage, good luck bro.”
“Nadarus, deal with the cannon fodder outside.”
Roselia finally spoke up after Nadarus gave the FCD a thumbs up, with the Demon of Greed silently bowing and summoning his sword in response. Seeing this, Seraphael snorted.
[Outside? You think you can escape my Bounded Field?]
Responding to him, Roselia looked up at the flying man and asked.
“Your Bounded Field? What makes you think your Bounded Field is still active?”
[…what?]
Seraphael was confused. What was Roselia talking about? They were clearly still within his Bounded Fie-
[?!]
The celestial couldn’t even complete his thoughts as he felt blood rise up his throat, pouring from his nose and mouth in the next second.
Clutching his chest in agony, he nearly fell from the sky, eyes wide with shock as he realized what had happened.
The World around him went dark for a second, and when light returned, he was not within ‘Paradise’ anymore.
He found himself inside a ginormous chamber shaped like a giant dome, bigger than an Olympic stadium.
Black flames erupted from the numerous torches packed tightly on the walls, but the true lighting of the chamber came from luminescent pearls embedded into the ceiling.
Between each torch stood dozens of metallic statues, all in the forms of fully armoured knights wielding different weapons.
Sword, Dagger, Battle Axe, War Scythe, Bayonet, Spear, Staff, Lance, Sheild, Mace, Flail, Warhammer, Club, Nunchaku, Baton, Halberd, Guandao and many more.
The CelSols and the combatants that Seraphael had brought with him into his Bounded Field all looked around with fear and apprehension clouding their eyes.
What had happened to their god’s ‘Paradise’? They asked themselves.
The answer was clear: it had been dominated and destroyed.
When two Bounded Fields are overlaid in the same space, a clash similar to what happened with Evan’s ‘Frozen Domain’, Eliza’s ‘Domain of Life’ and the Lizard Lord Bhak’s ‘Serpentine Dominion’ would happen.
The stronger Bounded Field dominated the space, while the caster of the weaker field suffered backlash damage.
Usually, this was physical damage, but there were a select few existences who could deal Soul Damage with this backlash.
It went without saying that Roselia was one of those ‘select few’.
“You stand before the Throne of the Omnipotent…”
Hearing her voice, all eyes turned to a long flight of stairs where the demoness sat atop a majestic throne, her legs elegantly crossed.
Her elbow rested on the armrest, her chin propped on her palm, her eyes cold as she gazed down at them like a swarm of insignificant insects.
With their attention now firmly on her, she continued.
“…and yet you mongrels dare to hold your heads so high?”
Faster than their brains could even compute her words, the gravity acting on their bodies suddenly intensified.
They fell flat on their faces, the sudden force sending mages who had been flying crashing to the ground with such force that their knees shattered. Some fell face-first, their skulls cracking and blood spilling onto the floor.
Seraphael who was flying the highest, tried to resist the gravity, but all Roselia did was raise a finger and point at the ground, and the gravity increased even more, sending his form crashing down to the floor and falling flat on his face…almost as if he was bowing to her.
“Hmm…now that is a more appropriate posture for you fools.”
Roselia remarked as she readjusted her legs, and her words made the veins in Seraphael’s forehead pop.
[HOW DARE YOU!!!!???? A MERE DEMON!!!]
Powerful celestial energy erupted from his body and he broke free of the oppressive gravity. He then spread his wings and took flight, charging at her with a cry of rage.
[YOU WOULD PAY FOR THIS INSOLENC-!]
His words were cut short as one of the giant armoured knights stepped forward, and swung its spiked club, bashing him out of the air like a baseball and sending him crashing into the crowd of CelSols.
“?!”
“Lord Seraphael!”
“No! This can’t be happening!”
“Our god fell?!”
“What kind of devil is she?!”
Thanks to Seraphael’s celestial energy, the CelSols were freed from the crushing gravity, rushing to his aid with renewed vigour.
Roselia, with an air of detachment, merely flicked her finger towards the ceiling. Instantly, the gravity reversed.
The intense force sent Seraphael and the nearest CelSols hurtling into the air, crashing into the ceiling with a bone-cracking impact. Their cries of shock and pain reverberated through the chamber, echoing off the silent metallic statues lining the walls.
With another casual flick of her finger downward, Roselia reversed the gravity again, but the force remained unchanged.
Seraphael and the CelSols plummeted to the ground like meteors, the impact carving deep craters in the floor.
The force of their descent was so great that it shattered bones and splintered armour. Many of the other combatants, still struggling against the oppressive gravity, were caught in the deadly aftermath, their bodies crushed beneath the falling CelSols and Seraphael.
Dust and debris filled the air, with the once fiercely confident ‘faithful’ lying scattered and broken, their zealotry replaced by fear.
Seraphael struggled to his feet under the intense gravity, the cries of his faithful ringing out in his ears from all angles as they crawled away from the craters.
He tuned them out and glared up at Roselia who looked back at him with cold eyes.
‘The fuck is this?! Her power isn’t supposed to be gravity manipulation! She’s meant to have Black Flames and Wind!’
What Roselia was displaying was far too different from the intel he was given. Couldn’t blame him, as his source of intel had never seen Roselia’s Bounded Field before.
Ever since she was unsealed four years ago, Roselia had only used it once, and that was when she was demonstrating to Evan. This was the second time.
Even during the war 1000 years ago, no one knew about her Bounded Field because all those she used it against had died! No survivors were left to tell the tale.
And also, Seraphael had a very grave misunderstanding.
The ability of Roselia’s Bounded Field…was NOT gravity manipulation.
Seraphael wasn’t given the opportunity to even realize his mistake as in the next moment, his body was warped through space.
[Huh?]
By the time he understood he had been forcefully teleported, it was already too late. The club-wielding armoured knight had already struck.
**BAAAMM!!!
The giant club knight bashed Seraphael with its enormous weapon, sending him reeling through the air. Before he could regain his bearings, the mace-wielding knight intercepted him, delivering a crushing blow that hurled him toward the shield wielder.
With unyielding force, the knight slammed into Seraphael with its shield, propelling him in the direction of the flail wielder, who swung its weapon in a deadly arc, sending him flying upward.
High in the air, the nunchaku wielder awaited. With a swift spin, it smacked Seraphael down with bone-crushing power, directing him to the bayonet wielder.
A gunshot rang out and a bullet of condensed demonic flames pierced the air at supersonic speed, striking Seraphael and exploding mid-air in a magnificent black blast, catapulting him toward the staff wielder.
The staff knight swung its weapon with precision, bashing Seraphael up into the air once more, and in that same moment, the Warhammer wielder leapt with incredible might, swinging its hammer from overhead.
The impact was meteoric, sending Seraphael crashing into the ground with a thunderous force that resounded throughout the area.
Seraphael lay in the middle of the 500m wide crater, blood spilling from his orifices, his armour cracked, and his wings burnt and tattered.
His ‘faithful’ cried out to him, their voices filled with desperation and worry.
“Lord Seraphael!”
“No, not our lord!”
“Hang on, Lord Seraphael!”
A group of them rushed to his aid, their faces etched with fear, while the others joined the CelSols in a frenzied attack on Roselia.
The air was filled with the sounds of clashing weapons and roaring spells as they converged on her, however, her armoured knights didn’t just stand there and watch them.
All the armoured knights stepped forward, their metallic forms moving with lethal intent.
The sword-wielding knight met a group of CelSols head-on, its blade flashing with demonic energy. With each swing, it decapitated one, bisected another, and dismembered two more, spraying blood everywhere like a macabre fountain.
The dagger knight’s body shrunk to normal size and it kicked off the ground, moving with uncanny speed and weaving through the ranks of the CelSols. It struck with surgical precision, slicing throats and severing tendons and within mere moments, four of the CelSols lay dead at its feet.
The battle axe knight was a force of nature, swinging its massive weapon in wide arcs. It cleaved through the bodies of the CelSols, splitting them in half with terrifying ease.
Many CelSols fell to its might before they even realized what hit them.
