December 12th

Year 1054 of the 51st General Calendar

48 Hours after Evan Eris’ disappearance.

Floating in the skies of the capital city of this Major world power, was a winged horse—the High-Rank Light Spirit Luceras.

[You gotta be kidding me…I really can’t find him!]

The spirit’s voice was laced with astonishment as he continued to scan the capital over and over, unable to detect any trace of Evan’s presence, even though he could sense the boy’s companions.

Earlier that morning, Luceras had been tending to his duties in the Underground Crystal Cove when something in his inventory began to buzz—a memory gem that Evan had given him a month prior. It was glowing a dangerous red.

‘There’s been no signal for 48 hours?’

Initially, Luceras thought Evan might have simply forgotten to send the usual daily signal, but as he recalled the massive surges of power he’d sensed two days ago, unease crept in.

Per the contract with Evan, he immediately left Duscon and headed straight to the GWE’s capital. Yet, the memory gem still didn’t pick up any signal from the backup transmitter in Oak Avenue Manor.

‘The transmitter should still work as long as he’s ‘On Aidos in sound health and mind’…’

As that thought crossed his mind, the space behind him distorted and Luceras turned to meet the narrowed gaze of a goddess who looked anything but pleased.

‘Oh my goodness?! Her expression changed?! What the hell happened?!’

Luceras kept those thoughts to himself as he quickly bowed to the goddess, preparing to speak. However, she spoke first.

Why do you have one of my divinity crystals?

Artemisia was curious how something she had kept in her office, in her personal dimension, had somehow gotten into the hands of this spirit in front of her.

[It was given to me by Evan Eris.]

…

The goddess fell silent, and Luceras took that as his cue to continue.

[He told me that when you sense it and come over, you should congregate his companions in one location and give this to them.]

The hard-drive-looking memory gem floated towards Artemisia, and she looked at it silently, her eyes still narrowed.

After a few moments, she heaved a sigh and disappeared after leaving four words.

Hold on a minute.

◇ ◇ ◇

Meanwhile, in the Royal Castle, Emperor Rudeus Hayes sat in stunned silence, his mind struggling to process the shocking information he had just received.

Before him were the Anomalies party, Leviah, his daughter, and the Paladin Heinr Harris.

“I’m sorry. You said who was sent into the what?”

Rudeus asked, needing to hear it again to ensure it wasn’t some sort of elaborate prank. But the serious expressions on the faces of everyone present confirmed that this was no joke.

Rudeus exhaled heavily, pressing his fingers against his temples as he tried to make sense of it all.

The whole continent was aware that something big had gone down in Tarse two days ago, and there were even rumours about goddess Artemisia’s descent; rumours which were confirmed by Holy Knights and Paladins present on the scene.

Despite two days passing since the incident, Sandfire Palace had yet to release an official statement, even though it was widely known that Emperor Lloris had been in Kreah on that fateful day.

Speculation ran rampant: some claimed it was a terrorist attack, others whispered of an evil god’s resurrection. The most alarming fact, however, was that over 2.5 million citizens of Kreah Trade City had perished, with the city itself reduced to ruins in the battles that ensued.

Now, Rudeus was finally being told the truth behind the commotion. When they reached the part where Evan had been captured by a strange spell, all eyes turned to Kayla.

None of them had missed her interaction with EOTD on that day, so they knew she held answers about Evan’s fate.

The revelation from the Spirit was nothing short of shocking.

[Evan…was sent into the past.]

They had known Evan was sent somewhere, but none had anticipated a forced time travel. This revelation raised more questions: How far back had he been sent? And, most importantly, how could they bring him back?

If Roselia and Nadarus hadn’t restrained Eliza, then the young woman might’ve just cracked Kayla’s head open to find her answers.

[…he’s going to come back; the laws of time would send him back as he’s not from that era.]

“AND HOW LONG IS THAT GOING TO TAKE?!”

Eliza’s voice cut through the air, with intensity that made a few of them flinch. Her state was…undesirable to say the least.

Physically, she seemed fine, save for her dishevelled hair and red eyes, but emotionally? She was a wreck and had one been for the past two days.

“How FAR back? What if he’s ALONE? What if SOMETHING terrible HAPPENS before he can reTURN? WHAT IF HE’S HURT? OR worse?! There HAS to be a WAY to bring him BACK! We CAN’T just sit HERE and wait for ‘the laws of TIME’ to DECIDE when he comes back! What if… what if something HAPPENS and HE CAN’T make it BACK at all?! And that MAgic circle… Eight rings?! I didn’t EVEN know MAGIC could have eight TIERS! Who did THIS? Who was powerful ENOUGH to send him BACK? It wasn’t that CELESTIAL, it COULDN’T have BEEN! SOMEONE else, a god? WHY did they DO that? WHAT are they PLANNING?!”

Eliza’s words tumbled out in a frantic rush, barely coherent as her mind conjured up one catastrophic scenario after another. Her heart pounded in her chest, each beat like a hammer driving in her fear.

She had been like this for the past few days, and while the others expected some reaction, claiming they were unsurprised seeing her break down like this would be a lie.

The scary part was that she was this distraught despite using her Serenity Inducement—a spell that induced powerful feelings of tranquillity in the target, making them keep calm and peaceful—working at 100% efficiency.

Nevertheless, everyone had to admit that her fears were logical and warranted. They also shared these worries.

The idea of Evan being lost in time was terrifying to them as well, but for Eliza, the fear was much more intense.

Kayla watched helplessly, unsure of how much she could say, or if she could even say anything with the situation like this.

When Kayla first revealed to Eliza that Evan had been sent back in time two days ago, she did so reluctantly—Eliza had literally forced the truth out of her, slamming her against a wall with enough force to shake the room.

Kayla’s hesitant explanation included the detail that Evan had been sent to an entirely different planet, and that revelation only fuelled Eliza’s growing hysteria, pushing her closer to the edge.

EOTD’s words unearthed memories of thousands of years ago, when Kayla was still just the Spirit Empress.

As such, she knew virtually everything that was going to happen to Evan, but couldn’t say with certainty when or how he would return since she wasn’t there when it happened—if it happened.

Her doubts about his return were rooted in something only she understood.

Suddenly, the spatial laws in the room began to warp, and new figures appeared in the room.

The first was a bewildered Emperor Lloris, followed by Warlord Isobel, then ‘Beast King’ Kolvar, and his son David, followed by the GWE’s Second Sword, Luke Bowthe.

As a spatial gate opened, two more beings stepped through—a blue-haired man with black and gold slit pupils, revealing his true draconic nature, and a white-winged horse who surveyed the room before speaking.

[I said it as a joke, but to think he actually got yeeted into space…]

Luceras remarked as he entered, but his words went largely unnoticed. All eyes were fixed on Hydran, who made no effort to conceal his Sovereign Level Power.

Luke and Kolvar, who were aware of Hydran’s existence, were stunned to see him here.

Kolvar, in particular, was unsettled, trying to grasp how they had been transported to this place.

As a Transcendent, he knew the level of spatial magic and sheer power required to teleport someone of his strength without any resistance wasn’t something just anyone could achieve. His guard was high and he spread his aura, probing for the source of this power.

He didn’t have to search long—the answer appeared right before them.

“?!”

Shock coloured the faces of everyone present as they recognized the woman who appeared beside Luceras. They had seen her face on the statues in Churches, they’d felt her divinity from those same churches, and those present in Kreah two days ago had witnessed her descent with their own eyes.

“…is this real?”

Rudeus questioned if his eyes were deceiving him, and his daughter silently placed a hand on his shoulder and nodded her head.

“It is.”

Artemisia’s gaze swept across the room, pausing briefly on Eliza and Kayla before she turned to Luceras.

“I gathered them all. Now activate it.”

Luceras nodded, revealing the memory gem in his possession. Looking up at those in the room, he gave an explanation to clear up their confusion.

[As per my contract with Evan Eris, 48 hours have elapsed since I last received a signal confirming he was “On Aidos in sound health and mind.” Therefore, I am now obligated to pass this on to you.

The gem will only activate and display its contents if everyone present is within a 15-meter radius, so I ask that you all stay here until it’s finished.]

With that, Luceras placed the gem on the ground and channelled his magic power into it. Energy surged out from it, wrapping around everyone in the room and confirming their energy signatures.

Laurene’s eyes widened in recognition—this was Magitech from Arlan Maddox’s house in Wolfen. A quick glance around the room confirmed that everyone present had been inside that place on the day it opened, except for Hydran, whose energy signature Evan had obtained after visiting the Underground Crystal Cove and collecting one of his fallen dragon scales, and Heinr.

A disc projection appeared, dotted with grey bulbs. As each person was scanned, a bulb turned green and once all bulbs were green, the projection vanished, revealing a hologram of a familiar figure.

[…this thing is recording, right?]

A hand briefly obscured the camera, but the voice unmistakably belonged to the same boy who was absent from this gathering. The camera panned then out, revealing him in full view.

As Evan’s hologram appeared, the room was engulfed in stunned silence. Eliza’s eyes widened, her breath hitching as a flood of confusion mixed with other emotions surged within her.

The background behind Evan was immediately recognizable to his companions as the Tower of Trials. He casually dropped onto one of the couches, flashing a familiar, cheerful smile before speaking.

[What’s up, bros and…girls?

I probably should NOT use the name of a certain farming instrument.]

He chuckled lightly, presumably imagining their dumbfounded expressions and somehow, he managed to ease the tension in the room a bit with that little action.

[Welcome to ‘Plans on what to do if Evan gets incapacitated and cannot be around for an extended period of time Part…5!’]

Hologram Evan held up his fingers, counting them to confirm the number was correct as he went on.

[Yes…it is as the very lengthy name says. If you guys are watching this, then some shit has hit the fan and I’m not around or wouldn’t be for quite a while.

So, these are Instructions on what to do if that actually happens.

Like I said, this is actually Part 5. I made quite a few of these.]

He held up his fingers as he counted down, putting down a finger for each name he listed.

[I made one for Osto, Cheverton, Lacertilia, the GWE-Wolfen War, and this now is the fifth…for Tarse.

Thankfully, I haven’t had to use Parts 1-4, so I hope I won’t use Part 5 eithe-]

Hologram Evan suddenly froze mid-sentence, and this reaction of his had Roselia and the other facepalming with sighs.

[That…was a flag, wasn’t it?]

He also facepalmed and heaved an exasperated sigh before looking up and speaking with a frown.

[Since I just doomed myself with my big mouth, I might as well get straight to explaining what I want you guys to do during this time.]

Evan’s expression grew serious, and with it, a different kind of tension gripped the room. His gaze made it seem as though he was looking directly into their eyes.

[I have no idea whatever circumstances may cause this to be played and whatever effects it’d have on you, physically and emotionally.

But please, let’s kill the emotional side of things for a bit and put the cold logic first, for the sake of Aidos…

…and punching the Demon King in the face.

Roselia and Nadarus, you guys gotta at least get one in on the face.]

Evan chuckled softly after his comment, then stepped out of the camera’s view. Moments later, he returned, wheeling in a TV. After switching it on, a map of Tarse appeared on the screen.

[Now then…let’s begin.]
