“Come on, if you were curious about how I fought, then there are less dangerous ways to find out! The kinds that don’t involve me risking my life!”

Evan protested, his frustration clear. He had assumed Arthur would handle the combat if it came down to it, but he had severely underestimated the unpredictability of the silver-haired boy.

“You wouldn’t give it your all in a ‘less dangerous’ situation so I decided against that.”

Arthur replied, clapping his hands as if finalizing a decision. Then he vanished, reappearing beside Margaux in an instant with his hands touching the ground.

“You know this barrier extends underground, right?”

The woman instantaneously leapt over 50 metres away from Arthur, her eyes narrowing as she saw the boy use Earth law energy to repair the ground she had made hollow.

Arthur, unconcerned, warped himself outside the barrier, taking a seat on the empty plains. He increased the barrier’s transparency, allowing him a clear view of both Evan and Margaux in the centre.

As Evan shouted something at Arthur, Margaux’s gaze sharpened, her thoughts shifting to the vulnerable-looking boy.

“If I can take this Level 500 boy hostage…”

She muttered under her breath, eyes glowing as she roused her divinity. In a flash, she closed the distance between herself and Evan, her palm radiating with the light of four Tier 3 pale blue Magic circles.

“?!”

Evan’s Danger Sense flared, alarms ringing in his mind. He spun around just in time, startling Margaux with his swift reaction. Without a second thought, he summoned the Gazebind Aegis, raising it to intercept her attack.

As her palm connected with the shield, a surge of ice spread out from the point of impact and seeing this, Evan raised a brow.

“Ice? Against me?”

Immediately, Evan’s demeanour changed and he entered combat mode. The contacts he had on melted off and a golden symbol glowed in his grey irises.

For the first time since coming to the past, Evan fully activated his Hero Unique Series skill.

‘Ice Nova.’

The Skill of the ‘Frozen Harbinger’, Silverwing, activated and a surge of golden ice erupted from Evan’s body in an instant, nearly enveloping Margaux’s body.

The woman’s eyes widened as she jumped back to escape his range, her surprise increasing when she saw how everything within 100 metres of Evan had frozen solid.

‘Was that the Ice Nova spell? A Nova Magic with no chant or magic circle?’

Marguax increased her evaluation of Evan, taking note of the golden glow in his eyes and attributing it to some skill of his.

Arthur, outside the barrier, also noticed the glow in Evan’s eyes. He flicked his fingers and the Universal Law responsible for Evan’s ‘Language Comprehension’ skill swirled around his fingers.

Being from another Universe, Arthur had to employ the Law of Languages to enable him to converse with the people of this one, and he used that same law to translate the symbol in Evan’s eyes.

‘Huh? I’ve seen this language before?’

Arthur was momentarily surprised by how easy it was to translate it. In a few seconds, he’d gained an answer.

‘This…it’s the same language that I saw Artemisia writing in. An Aidosian shorthand language that represents entire words with single letters.

Its meaning is…Mimicry.’

Having seen Artemisia use this same language to write in the past, Arthur was able to figure out what the censored word in Evan’s Unique Skill tab was, and by extension, the skill’s full name.

“I can sense the energy of a Universal law swirling within his eyes. That’s most likely the law of Mimicry itself. So that’s how he was able to replicate that teleportation circle so fast…”

While Arthur was deducing things on the outside, Evan unsummoned the Gazebind Aegis, taking a deep breath before cursing.

“Fucking hell!

Too many things have not been going my way recently.”

His right hand stretched out and the Unforged Vale appeared in his grasp. Looking up, he quickly appraised Margaux to find out what skills she had.

‘Well, I’d be damned.’

Evan cursed as he held up his sword, activating its blade mode, and switching on the ability of Roselia’s sword that he’d copied. This gave his blade’s gold energy a black accent.

Drawing his left hand across the blade, Evan muttered two words under his breath.

“Burn, Mesarthim.”

The black gold blade swiftly lit up with bright multicoloured flames, shimmering like the lights of a prism and seeing this, Margaux frowned.

“Esoteric Flames? This just got even more troublesome.”

She roused her divinity and drew in ambient law energy, and in response, Evan activated another skill.

“Blessing of Destruction: First Activation.”

A burst of crimson gold aura surged from the boy’s body and both Arthur and Marguax were surprised to see his overall power increase by 300%!!

“Oh wow…this is even better than my Blessing of Destruction spell!”

Arthur exclaimed with an excited gleam in his eyes as he activated his Pseudo-Authority of Destruction and began deconstructing Evan’s skill right there and then.

Evan planned to use Limit Break as well, but Margaux charged at him at supersonic speed before he did, wielding a spear that materialized in her hands and trusting it directly at his head.

Time Difference activated and Evan appraised the spear, spotting a very nasty curse on it that made him use Blink without hesitation.

‘That was the Blink skill, wasn’t it? Then why didn’t I sense the activation!’

Margaux was shocked as her spear pierced through empty air, even more so as she had not sensed the activation of Evan’s Blink Skill.

‘Come to think of it, that Ice ability he used earlier was also a Skill but I didn’t sense when he activated it.’

That thought came to her in the same second that Evan reappeared behind her, his blade glowing with hot prismatic flames.

Spinning his body counter-clockwise, Evan unleashed a wide slash towards her back.

“Mesarthim; Red: Hell Unleashed.”

***KAABOOOMMM!!!!

Against a Legendary, Evan would be suicidal to hold anything back. The prismatic flames crashed into Margaux, engulfing her before she could turn around and igniting with the ferocity of a nuclear strike.

The explosion engulfed the entirety of the barrier and Arthur had to expand it or both sides would have suffocated due to the smoke.

In the meantime, Evan silently glanced at the mushroom cloud of smoke and fire where Margaux lay, a single thought crossing his mind.

‘This woman’s a Living Legend…Hell Unleashed alone is not enough to take her out.’

With that thought he activated his dragon transformation, increasing his magic energy and overall power even more, to the point where one would mistake him for a Level 630!

Horns sprouted from his head and a pair of white-gold wings emerged from his back. Illusory scales appeared over his arms, joints, neck and chest, completing his dragon-mode transformation.

Opening his mouth, he unleashed the signature attack of Dragons.

‘Dragon Breath!’

Faster than the speed of sound, a hyperbeam of prismatic flames poured out from his maw, tearing through the air as it headed for Margaux.

As Evan expected, the woman wasn’t down and had been trying to bait him into attacking her. However, when she sensed the attack, she jumped away to evade it as ‘Hell Unleashed’ was enough to let her know Evan’s attacks ignored durability.

Evan turned his head and continued firing the breath like a laser beam, chasing after Margaux who was running at sonic speed.

‘Shadow Bind. Hydra.’

Activating a spell and skill simultaneously, Evan manipulated Margaux’s shadow to grab her legs and make her fall, before sending three giant serpentine dragons at her.

Their maws were wide open, swirling breaths of flame, ice and lightning respectively. They bit onto her fallen body and unleashed their breaths, holding her in place long enough for Evan’s laser-like Dragon Breath to reach her.

Margaux released a burst of divinity and tried to shield herself from the breath, but her hastily made shields crumbled under the power of the breath infused with the Blessing of Anti-Divinity.

‘This…Arthur’s buff. A Divinity Negation blessing…’

Having a Blessing that negated the signature energy of gods was par the course for a godslayer.

“Kats!”

Margaux’s scream boomed out and law energy converged in front of her. Her Unique Skill summoned a giant illusory tortoise spirit that blocked Evan’s breath with its shell and Evan quickly cancelled his breath since.

He heaved a deep breath and released magic power from his body in the form of steam, manipulating this expelled magic power to power his next skill.

“Hammerfist.”

A giant fist of crimson-golden aura materialised and punched down on the tortoiseshell from above, breaking it to pieces in one hit and shocking the shit out of Margaux.

“How d-? Destruction essence!!”

The woman instantly realised the reason why Evan’s attacks were very effective on her despite the power difference. His Destruction Essence had the effect of ignoring durability, as such, her ‘X1’ Durability stat did not matter much as Evan’s attacks ignored a huge percentage of it and directly depleted her vitality.

Evan used Hammerfist once more, but Margaux raised her arm and caught it with her bare hands, infusing her reddish-brown aura into her arm as she squeezed down and shattered the construct.

Crimson-gold lamé particles filled the air as Marguax leapt to her feet and charged at Evan, but the boy just pointed upwards with his left index and middle fingers.

‘Vindiction’s Strike.’

A portal rimmed with crimson gold energy manifested beneath her feet and unleashed a beam of destruction aura that engulfed her body whole. It knocked her up into the air and following, Evan released a dozen aura slashes with both the Aura Slash skill and Blade Cannon.

Flipping around mid-air, Margaux swung her spear and blocked all the slashes, using barriers to deflect the aura bullets, but she missed the golden chain that wrapped around her ankle and only noticed it when it was too late.

‘Everlasting Chains.’

Evan let go of his sword and dragged onto the golden chains with all his might, pulling Margaux down to the ground and slamming her body into the earth with so much force it bounced back up.

Right after, he activated Kayla’s Thunderclap and a wall of lightning blocks formed in the air behind Margaux. It folded in a ‘clapping’ motion very quickly, catching Margaux’s body within and shocking her with more lightning than she had ever seen in her life.

“Burn.”

Evan’s command rang out and his energy ignited into a burst of prismatic flames which then exploded upon contact with the lightning around Margaux.

Right now, Evan was displaying power that trumped even the current Artemisia and Beatrix combined, despite them being higher level than he was.

And what’s more, he hasn’t used Limit Break yet.

Evan waved his left hand and the Akashic Page appeared, with over ten magic circles forming mere seconds after. The ten magic circles fused into one and Evan unleashed the spell without hesitation.

“Nuclear Magic: Nuclear Cannon.”

He thrust his left hand forward and the magic circle discharged a blinding beam of flames radiating intense heat.

The beam surged towards Margaux and she quickly summoned her divinity and interwove it with her Ice to form a multi-layered crystalline shield. At the same time, spectral Vengeful Spirits materialized around her, their ghostly forms swirling to fortify her defences.
