Chapter 903 - 903: The ‘Last Forsaken Divine’ V
Each swing of Rezaemon’s massive great sword sent gusts of wind howling through the chamber and every clash with Evan cratered the ground beneath their feet, the sheer power of collisions attacks shaking the foundations of the facility.
For every strike Evan got in, the destruction essence ate away at Rezaemon’s durability, forcing deep gashes that bled freely.
But Rezaemon acted like a warrior bred for combat, and even with Evan’s attacks finding purchase, he adapted quickly, meeting every strike with brutal counters. The Forsaken Divine roared, his earth-imbued fists crashing down toward Evan like meteors.
Artemisia and Beatrix moved in sync to support Evan, both goddesses recognizing that he was their best hope of landing a decisive blow.
Artemisia used her Tempest Avatar to strike the Half-Giant from behind while Beatrix focused on disrupting Rezaemon’s movements, casting Time Bombs to slow his reactions just enough for Evan to find an opening. Every few moments, she would rewind time on Evan or herself to recover from the near-fatal strikes Rezaemon landed.
Still, even with their combined efforts, Rezaemon began to slowly overwhelm them.
His durability was monstrous, and although Evan’s Destruction Essence could ignore portions of it, Rezaemon’s pure physical power was enough to keep them on the defensive.
Each of his attacks, though slower and debuffed, still carried lethal force.
Evan gritted his teeth. His muscles ached, and his vision was beginning to blur from the exhaustion of battle, but he pressed on.
He slashed through the air with his sword, igniting each stroke with flames that licked at the edges of his strikes. As he manoeuvred around the Half-Giant, he used Hydra to send serpentine dragons lunging at Rezaemon, attempting to distract him.
“Destruction Vortex!”
The strike shredded Rezaemon’s skin, boring a hole in his body and just as Evan pulled away his sword, Beatrix teleported in and thrust her hand into the hole.
“Wha?!”
“The heck?!”
Both Evan and Rezaemon were dumbfounded, but the Half-Giant sensed Beatrix’s spatial power rippling through his body and immediately retaliated, delivering a powerful punch to Beatrix’s side.
The force of the blow sent her crashing to the ground, but though she bled the girl had a distorted smile on her face.
‘Found it!!’
Her eyes gleamed and she dashed forward once more, teleporting beside Evan and tapping his shoulder.
Then she moved to Artemisia and did the same, causing the other two to widen their eyes in surprise.
No words were needed.
They could all see the glowing spot moving through Rezaemon’s body and only then did Evan understand why Beatrix stuck her hand into the Half-Giant’s leg.
She wanted to find his Artificial Divine Core!
‘If we can get one powerful, coordinated strike at that spot…we can bring Rezaemon down.’
Such a thought crossed Evan’s mind just as Artemisia’s voice rang out in his ears.
“I’d Devolve him! Beatrix! Time Bomb him!!”
Artemisia did not need to shout this out loud but she did and Beatrix understood why.
“Evan, hit him with all you got!”
Beatrix screamed out as she activated her Unique Skill once more before charging forward, a Time Bomb forming in her left hand.
The two goddesses moved in a perfectly timed combo, with Artemisia attacking first and her Tempest Avatar mirroring her movements.
Beatrix followed, thrusting her palm forward and launching her metre-wide Time Bomb at the Half-Giant who coated his body in powerful defensive magic.
Finally, Evan moved a beat later, swirling prismatic flames around his sword.
Rezaemon, sensing the danger, made a quick decision.
He couldn’t let Artemisia’s evolutionary strike hit him—he could instinctively feel that it would seal away a portion of his power, a risk he couldn’t afford.
Nor could he let Beatrix’s time bomb detonate, the temporal damage would wreak havoc on his body already weakened due to Evan’s destruction essence.
‘On the contrary, the boy’s flames, while destructive, are more straightforward. I’d use my shields to buy me time to block the two girls’ attacks and get to him.
I just need to watch out for that clone of his…’
With those thoughts, Rezaemon made his choice.
He swung his great sword to intercept Beatrix’s time bomb, splitting the metre-wide orb before it could detonate fully.
His other hand surged with Light Magic, calling down a beam from above aimed directly at her. It was smaller, more condensed and more destructive.
At the same time, he raised a twelve-layer barrier of earth between himself and Evan, confident it would hold long enough to buy him a few precious seconds.
And it was then Evan decided to break out his last Trump Card.
“Limit Break.”
“??!!”
Rezaemon sensed the sudden energy surge as Evan’s power tripled in an instant.
But that wasn’t all—his Blessing of Destruction was already amplifying his power, and now, with Limit Break on top of it, Evan’s strength skyrocketed to a level far beyond what Rezaemon could have anticipated.
‘Fuck!!’
Rezaemon turned his body, trying to redirect the magic meant for Artemisia to Evan, but even though he was fast, he wasn’t that fast.
Evan’s prismatic flames intensified as they shattered Rezaemon’s barriers as if they were made of paper.
The blade tore through the twelve-layer barrier effortlessly, and the spiralling flames crashed into Rezaemon’s back with a force that reverberated through the entire chamber.
‘No…it’s not enough.’
“NGAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!”
The half-giant roared as the full force of Evan’s empowered strike hit him. His body was knocked forward, the sheer impact of the blow sending him crashing to the ground with a thunderous boom.
Blood sprayed from his wounds as the destructive energy tore through his body, burning and shredding at the same time.
‘I need another strike.’
Evan thought this as he saw Rezaemon try to force himself up to his feet, but the Half-Giant’s limbs trembled, and blood continued to pour from the gashes left by Evan’s sword.
Riding the surge of power from his Limit Break, created a void step in the air and spun on his heel, the blade of his sword slicing the air with a sharp hiss.
With one hand, he drew his hand across the edge, drawing his magic-filled blood and igniting the imbuing the blade with the brightest flames he’d ever created.
The heat intensified until the sword was glowing with a light so bright he had to squint his eyes.
At that moment, a chant crossed his mind.
‘My Flames, born of a Star, aid my sword to Cleave the World, and to Burn Even the Divine.’
Then, with a single, wide diagonal slash, he unleashed a devastating wave of flame.
“HELL UNLEASHED!!!”
**KAABOOOMM!!!!
The inferno blasted forward, crashing into Rezaemon and hurling him through over a dozen walls. The impact sent tremors through the facility, the sheer force of the attack leaving Rezaemon sprawled amidst the rubble, his massive body scorched and battered.
But Evan wasn’t done.
He teleported above Rezaemon and unleashed a Vortex that hit the Half-Giant squarely, forcing him further into the shattered ground, his body engulfed in flames and destruction essence.
Artemisa and Beatrix caught up to him a moment later, and the two girls quickly moved to support him.
One made the molten earth surge up and latch onto Rezaemon’s body, solidifying in an instant and squeezing tight enough to crack bone. Then, her Tempest Avatar drove a series of sharp punches into his chest and abdomen.
The other used Time magic, creating multiple Time Bombs that exploded simultaneously, each explosion wounding him and freezing his time.
Finally, Evan soared high into the air, then folded his wings tight, allowing gravity to pull him back to the ground.
With his sword drawn back, he enveloped the blade in swirling prismatic flames and used Adamantine Might to enhance his attack power.
As he descended and approached the half-frozen Forsaken Divine, he thrust his sword forward in the same instant that Artemisia’s punch struck Rezaemon’s chest and Beatrix’s spear, which tore through space, pierced his head.
***BOOOM!
It was a short blast of power that was over even faster than it was released.
Then, a loud crack echoed in their ears.
A sound awfully similar to the one they heard when Evan first crushed an Artificial Divine Core.
“?!”
Rezaemon’s body froze, his eyes wide with shock. For a moment, there was only silence.
Then Rezaemon forced his lips apart even though blood spurted through them, and he unleashed a final curse.
“Klątwa Śmierci!!!!”
The dark divinity latched onto the three teenagers and seeped into their bodies, its malignant power heading straight towards their hearts with one goal: to stop the organs from beating.
Even with his powerful curse resistance, Evan felt the effects and quickly used the last of his magic power on Mesarthim’s Yellow flames.
“Purge!”
The Yellow flames purified Evan’s curse, Beatrix rewound her time just before the curse could take hold, and Artemisia retracted her evolutionary power on Evan and Rezaemon, redirecting it to herself to boost her curse resistance to near-immunity.
“…c…k…u…”
With his final curse neutralized, Rezaemon swore at them, and then his eyes dimmed as death claimed him.
[Level Up!]
…
[Level Up!]
Such notifications rang out in the three teenagers’ field of vision, and seeing this, they collapsed onto the ground, completely exhausted.
Evan’s skills were disengaged, and the World began taking its owed power from the magic stone in his hand.
“Huh?”
But Evan felt strange.
Even though he could sense Artemisia had released her power, he didn’t feel much different, only a little bit weaker.
“Ohh…pfft…”
It took him a moment to realise the reason why his normal base state was now only a little bit weaker than his base state when buffed by Artemisia.
A single glance at his status and he saw the reason stare back at him.
