Reincarnated Hero System

Chapter 957 - 957: Fifteen Seconds

As the notifications appeared in Evan’s field of view and the warning of Danger Sense blared loud enough to give him a headache, his heart skipped a beat, his pulse racing with fear.

The piercing urgency of both Danger Sense and the RHS made his skin crawl.

Simultaneously, the two men whose names Arthur had exclaimed when he shouted earlier acted within a split-second.

Arthur’s time law energy washed over them, accelerating their movements, and they unleashed bursts of energy to repel their opponents.

With their newfound speed, they swiftly turned towards the direction Arthur had indicated and activated their Pseudo-Authorities.

[Pseudo-Authority of Darkness: Waterfall of Shadows!]

[Pseudo-Authority of Light: Radiant Bulwark!]

The sky shattered with a deafening crack, and a jagged rift yawned open, unleashing a deluge of darkness law energy that cascaded down like a waterfall in the sky.

The surging darkness created a waterfall in the sky where the falling water acted as a barrier.

An eruption of demonic energy surged from Alvey, morphing into a colossal barrier of light. The radiant shield expanded vertically, its luminous edges stretching across several kilometres.

Some High-Ranked Demon aides of Alvey and McEnda sprang into action as well, activating their strongest defensive skills and techniques, reinforcing the barriers the two had created.

Meanwhile, others positioned themselves to safeguard their comrades’ backs, shielding them from any possible Aramisian attacks.

Alvey and McEnda had caught the urgent undertone in Arthur’s voice, and they knew that despite his penchant for jests, Arthur was not one to trifle within the heat of such an important battle.

Their trust in Arthur was not without reward.

In the blink of an eye, it hit.

Alvey’s barrier had only just fully expanded when it happened.

They all sensed it, yet none could see it until the moment of impact—it was simply that fast.

A beam of golden light, moving at a speed beyond the comprehension of everyone present, tore through the air with blistering intensity and collided with McEnda’s Waterfall of Shadows technique.

In an instant, the barrier shattered like delicate glass. McEnda coughed up blood as the backlash hit him, but he gritted his teeth and hastily reconstructed the barrier, fully aware that Alvey’s shield was collapse in moments.

His instincts were dead on.

Alvey’s barrier, though condensed and reinforced with concentrated demonic energy at the point of impact, barely withstood the divine onslaught. Within a heartbeat, the beam of golden brilliance fractured the shield into countless glittering shards.

The other High-Rank Demons’ barriers fared no better, disintegrating under the relentless attack. Their efforts bought only fleeting moments for Alvey and McEnda to recreate their defences, but these, too, were obliterated within seconds.

Layer upon layer of barriers were erected by Alvey in desperation, yet the golden beam tore through each one as if they were nothing.

Realizing there was no other option, Alvey summoned his sword, the Morphic Edge. The Rule Breaker lent Alvey its cosmic energy without hesitation, forcing out as much power as possible, as quickly as possible.

With this surge of energy, Alvey unleashed a full-powered slash, channelling every ounce of magic power and aura in his being.

The strike clashed against the beam of golden light, managing to halt its advance—for three fleeting seconds.

His slash was devoured by the all-consuming fury of the divinity beam, while McEnda, his energy depleted from repeatedly reconstructing his full-powered defences, didn’t hesitate to reach for a desperate measure—a protective artifact entrusted to him by his father.

McEnda bit his palm, letting his blood flow freely onto the disc he pulled from his subspace.

As the blood seeped into the artifact’s surface, it triggered an immediate and dramatic reaction.

Crimson and black veins of energy pulsed across the disc, growing brighter and more ominous with each beat.

The dormant Demonic energy of a ‘Demon King’ stored within the artifact awakened, and intricate runes etched onto its smooth surface began to shimmer and ripple.

In an instant, the disc erupted in a storm of dark, swirling energy. A towering barrier of shadows and flame manifested before McEnda, its writhing tendrils stretching outward to envelop all the High-Rank Demons in a protective cocoon.

The golden beam of divinity, relentless and overwhelming, crashed against the shadowy shield with tremendous force.

For a moment, the two forces clashed violently.

Then, the golden beam began struggling against the shield of darkness, its radiance dimming as the barrier siphoned away its power.

Gradually, the intensity of the golden divinity began to falter, its power absorbed and deflected by the artifact’s darkness barrier until, at last, the golden beam flickered and died.

As the final traces of the beam faded, the disc’s barrier fractured with a thunderous crack, its energy dispersing into the air like dying embers.

The artifact, its purpose fulfilled, reverted to its dormant state. The once-brilliant runes now lay dim, their glow reduced to a faint, intermittent pulse of residual power.

|…|

A heavy silence fell over the battlefield, broken only by the ragged breaths of those who remained standing.

Cold sweat trickled down the necks of both Aramisians and Gozonians, the air thick with the tension of barely suppressed panic.

Though it felt like an eternity, only fifteen harrowing seconds had passed since Alvey and McEnda first deployed their defences.

But those seconds had taken their toll. The High-Rank Demons were utterly drained.

McEnda fell to his knees, his complexion ashen, his body trembling from the exertion. Yet, despite the weight of exhaustion pressing down on him, he gritted his teeth and forced himself upright.

He, like the others, understood the grim reality of their situation: such a devastating attack could not have originated from nothing.

It had a source—a source that was now drawing closer!

Arthur, the linchpin in their ability to regenerate their defensive barriers as fast as they could, staggered under the strain of accelerating the time flow of multiple Transcendents simultaneously.

Extending his right arm, he began gathering ambient cosmic energy, feeding it into the Cosmic Artifact strapped to his wrist—the same one that brought him to Valmone.

The boy gave it a command to initiate the creation of a Cosmic Gate.

Simultaneously, his mouth moved and he gave a verbal command, invoking one of his True Trump Cards.

|¬Lostvayne! Full Release! ¬|

**BOOM!!

A deafening explosion tore through the air, shaking the very fabric of space. A torrent of cosmic energy erupted from Lostvayne, the sword’s limiter fully unleashed.

Its blade shimmered with a silver light as intricate circuits etched themselves across its surface, glowing brighter with every pulse.

Tendrils of energy shot out from the blade, latching onto Arthur’s skin like living wires. They dug deep, siphoning the boy’s innate power to return things to nothing.

Arthur’s hand moved toward the sword’s hilt, but before he could grasp it, a hand appeared out of thin air and grabbed his hand to stop him.

|That would not be necessary, godslayer. |

Arthur’s destruction energy automatically lashed out in response to the sudden contact. The boy’s innate ability to turn things to nothing stirred a primal fear in the one who held him.

Hence, although Arthur lacked the power to deplete their durability, they let go of the boy’s arm on instinct.

Evan, who wasn’t too far from Arthur’s position also reacted to the sudden presence. Though the figure showed no immediate hostility, Danger Sense screamed louder than ever, marking them as a far greater threat than their mysterious attacker.

‘A Demon?’

They appeared to be one, but that didn’t necessarily mean they were an ally.

In this case, however, Evan’s wariness against this new entrant wasn’t necessary. This new arrival wasn’t just an ally; he was the strongest one the Gozonians could hope for on this planet.

Evan didn’t know him, but this man was a Five Star General—the Supreme Commander of the Demon Army on Planet Aramis.

Peak Ranked Demon; Cruz Orkorin.

And unlike the Gozon of 10,000 years in the future, the current time’s Peak Ranked Demons were all Higher Existences!

The man unfurled his two pairs of wings and rose slowly into the air, his presence dominating the battlefield as his aura expanded to announce his arrival.

|Sargon, McEnda III. Good work.

You pushed them to the point where they acted first. Now, we’re completely justified. |

The devastating attack moments ago had come from a Deity Realm existence—an undeniable breach of the agreement between the Gozonian Demon Kings and the Aramisian god Kings that strictly prohibited the interference of Deities in this war.

They could command from the sidelines, but an outright assault? Unallowed.

Yet, the situation had pushed the enemy to desperation. Since the battle began, McEnda and Alvey had utterly dominated, driving Plomux to the brink of defeat.

Their feats had already shattered records—ones that would echo across the Interstellar Stage for years.

The date was May 22, and the campaign against Plomux had begun on May 10.

In less than two weeks, they had dismantled the continent’s defences and breached its core where the main commanders were located, subjugating all in their path.

A continental war with over a hundred million soldiers ended in under fourteen days?

That speed was unreal!

It was no wonder the Deity overseeing Plomux had been compelled to act, breaking the rules in a desperate bid to change the tide.

With Arthur, a relentless thorn in the Aramisians’ side, and Evan, a burgeoning threat both present, it was the perfect moment to strike and potentially eradicate them all in one devastating blow.

Fortunately for the Demons, Arthur’s future sight had been triggered automatically in response to the peril.

This innate ability allowed him to glimpse the grim outcome that awaited every Demon on the battlefield if that attack landed and issue a timely warning to prevent it.

Notably, the attack bore a Selective Destruction attribute, ensuring that only Demons would suffer its wrath. Divine Humans and gods? They would remain untouched.

The skies above darkened as a suffocating wave of demonic energy surged from Cruz, casting a foreboding shadow over the battlefield.

In response, a single streak of blinding light shot through the oppressive darkness, racing toward Cruz as he activated his Authorities and charged at the incoming god.

In mere seconds, the sky became a battlefield for the Deities, with everyone scrambling to retreat as quickly as possible to avoid being caught in the crossfire.

However, amid the aerial clash, most of the attention was fixed elsewhere.

The gods and Demon Kings observing the scene couldn’t help but wonder: what would have happened if Cruz hadn’t intervened and stopped Arthur from reaching Lostvayne?

The sheer amount of energy radiating from that blade was terrifying, and that was just the magic power. They couldn’t sense cosmic energy, after all.

And because they were all so occupied watching Arthur, not a single one of them noticed Evan casually slide the Akashic Page back into his Inventory.

Neither did they notice the dissipating energy of the magic circle that would have cast World Magic: Spell Number 7.

Arthur unsummoned his sword and glanced at the Cosmic Gate that had formed by his command, sighing as he called out to Evan.

“Dude, let’s get out of here.”

“…mhmm…”

Evan nodded after a brief pause, his gaze fixed on the Cosmic Artifact on Arthur’s forearm. He recalled a previous conversation about the Artifact’s functions, which allowed him to notice something others missed.

‘That’s the Artifact he used to come to this Universe, isn’t it?

He can create Spatial Gates with it, and he said that creating gates to go across a continent with it only needs less than five seconds.’

As Arthur ‘released’ Lostvayne, everyone else assumed he intended to wield the sword’s devastating power in battle.

But Evan saw it differently. Arthur had issued the command to create the Cosmic Gate before ‘releasing’ the sword.

To Evan, rather than preparing for a fight, it seemed Arthur—

‘—was preparing to buy time…

He was trying to buy time for the artifact to generate the Spatial Gate. A Gate requiring more than 5 seconds to generate.

Arthur was either trying to leave the continent or…!’

At that moment, Evan’s eyes widened with realisation. The very real possibility that faced with the power of a Higher Existence, Arthur wouldn’t hesitate to abandon Planet Aramis.

His actions made sense, given his understanding of the power of Deities, having grown up surrounded by them. Even the Half-Deity who had just attacked was capable of destroying the moon that graced Aramis’ night sky.

Arthur had no intentions of playing with fire by sticking around for too long when an existence with that kind of power was trying to kill him.

While stepping through the Cosmic Gate after Arthur, a wry smile tugged Evan’s lips beneath his mask. Of all people, he was the last who could criticize Arthur’s choice.

After all, Spell Number 7 in the World Magic Series was a spell called Dimension Gate.
