Chapter 1754: The Little Devil
Chapter 1754: The Little Devil

Aquarina was a bit worried about who would take care of Esmeralda today, but Pyuku reassured her she would be alright.
“She will most likely be taken care of by Agua’s mother,” Pyuku said. “I am sure she won’t really reject the opportunity to pay back for everything we’ve done for them, right?”
“Yeah, don’t worry about it, Aquarina,” Undine nodded.
“I-I guess you’re not wrong…” Aquarina nodded. “Hmm? Ah!”
And then, Aquarina noticed something.
Or rather, someone.
“Gah!”
In that moment, the world suddenly stopped moving.
Aquarina looked downstairs and…
And…
She found a cute, chubby baby girl sneaking out of the house!
“E-Esmeralda! Good morning!”
Esmeralda’s eyes widened as she saw a monster appearing, a powerful predator of little critters like her.
She quickly tried to run away, moving her chubby legs and tiny hands toward the escape route!
“Gaah! Gugaah!”
As she ran, the creature rushed behind her, resembling a shadow aiming for her life.
“Gyaaaah!”
As she cried, desperately realizing her fate was sealed, in a last-ditch effort for survival, Esmeralda kicked the air with her tiny legs.
“Eugh…! Ouch, don’t kick me out of nowhere…”
Aquarina was kicked in the face!
Her last efforts worked as she groaned in pain, reeling from the true strength of the little critter.
Esmeralda wasted no time! She ran away as if her life depended on it.
The outside world, the bright sun, the wet soil, the strange people outside, the singing birds…
It was beautiful!
This was what she was born to experience!
“Awaaahh! Waaah!”
The little baby was fascinated, happy to see the world outside!
She quickly took a step forward.
But this step meant more to her than anything else.
It meant a new future, a new adventure, and she was only two days old at that!
If she was this adventurous now, just how far would she—
“Gotcha.”
“Gyaaah! Gyaaah! Muuh!”
Ah, damn it all!
The baby had been caught, her entire plan shattered to pieces.
Her future destroyed, her entire world falling apart.
“Calm down, what’s gotten into you? You were born yesterday, and you’re moving everywhere now…” Aquarina sighed, carrying her baby sister. “Come on, don’t be angry…”
“Gyarr!” Suddenly, Esmeralda bit Aquarina, but she had no teeth, so Aquarina felt no pain in her hand.
“Hahaha! What are you doing?” Aquarina giggled. “Come here!”
She quickly kissed Esmeralda’s little nose and then her forehead a couple of times.
“Mooch, mooch, mooch!”
“Babaahh…”
In the end, Esmeralda gave up, glaring at Aquarina with a tired expression.
“Are you even a baby?” Aquarina sighed, giggling. “Look, the outside world is dangerous for little babies, alright? So don’t go outside alone… You have to stay inside with your mama if possible. Though today we’re going to beat a big monster, but still, we’ll be back before dinner.”
“Babaah…” Esmeralda groaned. “Buhhh…”
“What’s wrong?” Aquarina wondered, noticing Esmeralda pointing in the distance. She saw her mother approaching.
“Oh, mom… Good morning,” Aquarina said.
“So there you are! Thank you for picking her up, Aquarina…” Nepheline sighed. “I took my eyes off her for a single minute, and she disappeared! I might have to assign some Spirits to her just to make sure she doesn’t get into trouble…”
“But you need all the power, mom…” Aquarina said.
“I know, but we can’t bring her with us, and she was just born, yet look where she went! We can’t trust this little bundle of problems,” Nepheline sighed, grabbing her daughter as Esmeralda started rubbing her face on her mother’s chest. “Hah, now you want milk? Fine, fine… You have to drink a lot because we’ll be back pretty late.”
Aquarina saw her mother adjust her clothes around her chest, revealing her large, plump breast leaking some milk, which her sister started suckling right away.
“Haaah… What are you looking at? Did you also want milk or something? Hahaha!” Nepheline laughed a bit.
“I-I haven’t said anything!” Aquarina sighed. “I don’t even remember when I drank milk like that… It’s weird how those memories are just gone completely.”
“Well, most memories from when you were a kid are usually just lost. They aren’t even necessary,” Nepheline said. “Well, most of the time… Sometimes, people remember things even when they were babies. You’ve been friends with Sylphy since you were one year old, don’t you remember?”
“Yes, I suppose I remember the things that are important to me…” Aquarina giggled. “Though I remember that Sylphy told me she also remembered everything, even her own birth.”
“Huh, really? Damn, that girl must have some amazing memories. Wait a second,” Nepheline stopped talking, suddenly glancing at her daughter while squinting her eyes. “Your Aura, it exudes pure Divinity… A new one? Aquarina, what the hell did you do? Where did you get this power?”
“H-Huh? Ah…” Aquarina gasped, realizing her mother noticed her changes immediately.
“No, it’s not exactly yours… Is this your Divine Aspect? I knew you had something within you, but this is really quick…” Her mother said. “Though, there seems to be something else too? Did you receive a new blessing?”
“Y-Yeah…” Aquarina muttered.
She didn’t quite know if she could just say what Sylphy did out in the open. Their parents didn’t know about the System at all, although they knew Sylphy could share some “mysterious power” that made her friends stronger over time, which they interpreted as her Unique Ability, something rare but not impossible, especially for a granddaughter of a Fairy.
“Which God? That’s unexpected! I really thought you had gotten enough of them…” Nepheline said. “I hope they didn’t ask you for any weird favors?”
“It’s… Uh, complicated, it’s a god of fire and thunder,” Aquarina said. “They gifted me some equipment.”
“Really?” Nepheline gasped. “Wait, you’re… No way, you’re a Saintess?!”
“Eh?! You could tell right away?!” Aquarina gasped in disbelief.
“But of course I could tell right away! You think you could ever fool your mother?” Nepheline laughed. “Also a diadem, staff, and ring… That’s what most Saints get usually. Well, at least Faylen was gifted that.”
