Chapter 1111: Morningstar
Chapter 1111: Morningstar
As the Dragon Wind Empire descended into chaos, the accused traitor of humanity was busy holding an emergency meeting.
Miracle Pavilion, Guild Residence
"Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on here?" The Vice Guild Leader of Miracle Pavilion, Morningstar, questioned coldly.
Their eyes then shifted to the Guild Commander Luther, who was in charge of managing the operation and public opinion.
"Luther, do you have any explanation for this crisis?" Morningstar gnashed his teeth and tried his best to suppress the rage from within. "The Guild Leader is busy with the meeting in the real world, and this is the mess you caused."
Luther sat on his seat with a solemn expression.
You asked me what was going on, then whom should I ask?
He had just been killed by Eclipse Nova and respawned when this kind of news broke out. If anything, he was the most innocent party out of everyone here.
At the very least, they didn’t lose their equipment and level.
Those damnable cannon shots actually caused him to drop a level!
"Well, answer me!" Morningstar hissed. "Don’t act like a mute! I know you got a damn mouth, or could it be that you’re tired and wish to step down from your position?"
Upon hearing the direct threat, the other members at the meeting table suddenly straightened their backs.
It would have been a lie if they said they hadn’t been vying for Luther’s position. They simply didn’t have an opportunity to overthrow him. But now that this kind of major crisis had broken out, it was their time to shine.
’These bastards...’ Luther was speechless by their blatant actions in wanting his position. He was the only one who worked hard for the Miracle Pavilion, while these lowlives only knew how to sit back and share a cut of the pie.
"Vice Guild Leader, I suspect this is definitely the doing of the Vanguard Guild." Luther stood up and stated.
"Or more specifically, I believe it’s Eclipse Nova doing something behind the scenes that resulted in the conquered cities raising flags with our emblem."
"Wow, I didn’t think of that!!" Morningstar clapped his hands and exclaimed sarcastically.
"Do you think I’m a fool to not think of that possibility?" He raised his voice thunderously.
Instantly, Luther’s face turned pale as he sat back down. Given the timing of the situation, only a ridiculous fool wouldn’t suspect it was the Vanguard Guild’s action.
But the question was how the fuck they managed to swindle the Colossuses into raising their emblem sky high in the flag?
While everyone else was silent, Morningstar continued to rant aloud.
"I’m being summoned by the NPC Nobles in the Dragon Wind Empire later on to explain the circumstances! If we fail to declare our innocence and explain the situation, then all our hard work here will be nullified."
It was only then that the collective higher-ups in the meeting room realized the severity of the matter.
"Why would the nobles in the empire believe in those rumors?" One of them asked skeptically.
"I doubt they have access to the Game Forum, so how could it have spread to the nobles’ ears so fast?" Another chimed in and wondered who was the snitch capable of ratting them to the nobles. One must know that you needed a certain reputation to even meet with a noble in the Dragon Wind Empire.
In other words, the suspect could only be those who had been roaming in the empire for a long time.
Despite knowing that, there were simply too many players who based themselves around the empire. Moreover, given the agitation in the crowd and the dampening of their public image, they couldn’t afford to search in a widespread manner.
"I don’t care about who the suspect is or not! But Luther, you better fix this mess." Morningstar declared solemnly.
"You were the one to push for the motion to destroy the Vanguard Guild to warn the rest from opening a chamber of commerce! And the elders who also agreed to the motion are equally responsible. I’ll be heading off now to inform the Guild Leader of the crisis, so you all better behave yourself."
"???"
Almost immediately, Luther’s eyes widened slightly. The fact that Morningstar could twist black and white together was the most shameless behavior he hadn’t seen in a long time.
The one who was infuriated was you!
The one who also forced us to make a move against the Vanguard Guild was also you!
And now you want to shift all the blame onto me?
Luther nearly crashed out and cursed at Morningstar on the spot.
However, rationality still took the lead, prompting him to suppress his internal emotions. He rose in ranks because of Morningstar, so becoming a scapegoat was a part of the package from the beginning.
He was only disappointed at how quickly he was shoved to the front to become a scapegoat.
The other elders who were also collectively called out also pursed their lips in response. They were the least influential and had lost the majority of their power already, so it was only destined for them to be on the receiving end as well.
As for those who still had influence and power, they simply took the backseat and pretended to be blind and deaf.
Why should they involve themselves in such a sticky situation?
We’re innocent, so don’t you dare come seek us for a solution! That was their mindset, and the cruel reality in a guild that operated in data and wealth only.
While the Miracle Pavilion was in complete disharmony, the culprit of their migraines had arrived at Willowbrook Village.
"Hah, can this still be called a village?" Xu Feng hadn’t come here for a while, and the place had expanded by a large number. It even surpassed the size of a town and could be considered a large city.
The fortress around Willowbrook Village was also heavily fortified, making it almost impossible to be raided by the nearby monsters.
