Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1112: Young Guards

Chapter 1112: Young Guards

The current Willowbrook Village was no longer the same in its early stages.

Back then, its defensive structure and formation were lacking in a lot of aspects. But now, the village was equivalent to a fortress with high and sturdy walls looming over the area.

Seeing that, Xu Feng was once again relieved that he had made good rapport with the people here before its massive transformation.

Who knows just how much more tedious one needed to do to gain the people’s trust here?

Sometime later, Xu Feng proceeded to advance in his steps. But a few seconds later, his eyes narrowed as he witnessed two spears being tossed in his direction.

He didn’t retreat or advance, granted that the projectiles of those two spears weren’t going to land on him.

THUD!

The two spears neatly stabbed the ground from just a few meters away from him. Needless to say, those two spears were a warning shot from those behind the fortress.

"State your purpose in coming to our village, outsider!" A youngster’s voice echoed loudly from behind the tall wall.

Upon realizing that the people guarding seemed to be a new generation, Xu Feng promptly announced his identity.

"I’m Vanguard Guild Leader Lin Feng." He declared and flashed an identification badge to verify his claim.

A few seconds later, a shriek of cries echoed loudly, followed by a gust of wind.

Apparently, an eagle-like monster was released and rushed straight at him.

As the monster fast approached him, Xu Feng was startled by the monster’s level being 58.

That was quite a huge jump from the initial 20s.

’It seems like the second major update is fast approaching.’ All these were signs that the System was starting to transition the mainstream players to prepare themselves for Tier 2.

Sometime later, the eagle monster snatched the identification badge from him with their razor-sharp claws as they flapped their wings and flew straight to the high wall.

Xu Feng didn’t even show any signs of resisting because this was just one part of a verification process that players should soon start to get used to when arriving at an unfamiliar location.

Given the current state of the world, anyone could potentially be a spy or a danger by themselves. Hence, the usage of pets increased as many would use them as a precautionary shield to explore, verify, and defend their surroundings.

"The identification badge is verified, but please proceed to the magic formation up ahead." The same voice echoed, followed by the eagle tossing the badge back to him.

As Xu Feng caught the identification badge, a bright circle formed beneath the ground from the front.

’What meticulousness and advancement in the formation of verified people.’ He was impressed by the security measures and hoped to implement them soon in his town. That way, he could easily prevent a lot of potential troublemakers from trying to wreak havoc in the case that the patrol missed a few blind spots.

Shaking his head, he knew such implementation would take him a while to succeed. Moreover, the cost and resources required to set them up would cause a dent in his fragile wallet.

’Forget it. I should just get the deciphering done first.’ He thought and stepped toward the bright circle. Soon, he felt like his body was being pricked by multiple manas.

The feeling could be said to be uncomfortable, but Xu Feng made sure to keep perfectly still. The prickling was an inspection to check if he was a threat or not.

As for what defined the threat, Xu Feng had no idea. After all, the threat varied depending on the modification in the formation itself.

He wasn’t omnipotent enough to know every tiny little detail. He was a human, and not some alien with a super brain that could store a lot of data.

Sometime later, the inspection was completed. There was no alert system or any mishaps.

"Please enter the gate promptly once it opens!" The voice resounded.

’Seems like the wilderness is still dangerous.’ Xu Feng could discern the cautiousness behind the voice. Moreover, it clicked to him why he was teleported outside the Willowbrook Village instead of being inside.

After all, he had long been familiar with the villagers and had established a good connection. By that theory, even if he used a different Teleport Platform, his personal data should still have been recorded in the village’s own Teleport Platform.

Yet the fact that he was teleported outside just like the first time made him believe the village must have been affected by the Colossuses as well.

As he walked past the gate, it quickly shut down in a swift manner.

Simultaneously, two more young guards approached him and said, "You came at a bad time. Our village had just received intel that there is a large group of monsters approaching here."

"A large group of monsters?" Xu Feng raised an eyebrow. "Are they led by the Colossus or an elite monster?"

"It’s not the Colossus." The young guard shook their head.

"It’s an elite monster that is airborne. Anyway, that’s all we can divulge for now. You should finish your task soon and leave. Our people won’t flee from danger, but outsiders should leave." They send their final warning as a kind gesture.

However, such a kind gesture was no different than a cruel denial.

Outsiders!

Being lumped together with that term caused Xu Feng to be snapped back to reality.

He thought he had established a good rapport with the villagers. But in reality, that was just his wishful thinking. The majority of them still regarded him as an outsider despite his previous merit.

Of course, there was also another possibility. The new villagers were all the new generation, granted that he didn’t recognize one of them.

This caused Xu Feng to ponder whether the village itself was operating at a time faster than the outside world. After all, the village was sealed away from the outside to prevent being found out.

However, if that was the case, then could Fiona and her father still be around?

’Hopefully, I’m just overthinking.’ He pursed his lips.
