Jessica’s eyes widened in complete astonishment. She glanced at the large box and then at Xu Feng.

She repeated the actions a few times before swallowing a mouthful of salvia.

"1,500 horses are all in this box?" She pointed at the box and asked.

"You can just open it and inspect them." Xu Feng crossed his legs and gestured for her to check the goods.

Without hesitation, Jessica opened the box and spotted many sparkly orbs.

These orbs contained the horses, which was the sole reason why they could be stored in a large box.

Needless to say, the orbs weren’t cheap, but the payment was footed by the Adventure Guild anyway.

Toward this, Xu Feng didn’t become polite with them.

Aside from the 1,500 orbs that were required, he also purchased many more.

’Do I really look that stingy?’ Xu Feng twitched his brows.

He never miscounted or anything. The extra 100 horses were intended as gratitude for eliminating so many of his enemies in one swoop.

One must know how to repay a favor; otherwise, you will fail in society.

Who would want to waste their energy and help you out when there was no benefit in return?

This was basic human psychology.

Unless you’re a very close friend, lover, or family member, nobody would be willing to extend a hand to help while expecting nothing in return.

And hell, sometimes, one of these categories might not offer a helping hand either. Everything depended on one’s personal character.

"Ahem, if you don’t want the extra 100, then you can return it to me." He cleared his throat and extended his hand.

"Who said I don’t want it?" As if her tail had been stepped on, Jessica reacted intensely. She hurriedly stuffed all the horses into her pouch and kept it hidden beneath her chest.

"Anyway, this is your authority token to construct an army camp. You are eligible to recruit up to 150 people to be trained. As for the taxes, you are exempt because of your contribution." She then explained, changing the topic.

Despite knowing her intention, Xu Feng wasn’t going to pursue this kind of trivial matter.

"Alright, you won’t mind me using the Star Falls City and the Adventure Guild as influence to recruit people, right?" He calmly asked.

Jessica was rendered speechless.

"If I say I mind, would you not do it?" She rolled her eyes.

Xu Feng flashed a cheeky smile in response. Obviously, he was going to do it regardless of whether she liked it or hated it.

Having a channel that could be of use, but neglecting it could be considered a retarded decision.

Jessica naturally knew Xu Feng wasn’t going to let any resources go, so she didn’t even bother stopping him. Either way, it was beneficial for both sides.

The army camp that Xu Feng set up would soon become a part of their main attacking army anyway.

"Hmm, I should inform Veronica and Carmen about the upcoming plans." Xu Feng debated for a while and decided to leave the recruitment issue to them.

Given Carmen’s luck and connection, she was probably going to find strong NPCs. As for Veronica, because of her administrative work, she had also established quite a lot of reputed NPCs.

"He’s probably logging out to meet up with his former professor." Carmen took a deep breath and sighed. "Part of the banned guilds are from Lethal Corp. If I recall correctly, his former professor seemed to be friends with the heiress of Lethal Finance."

It wasn’t hard to connect the two dots to come up with this conclusion.

"Oh, I see... no wonder the room suddenly smells like vinegar all of a sudden," Veronica smirked and looked at Carmen in amusement. "It seems like our usual composed Carmen is getting jealous."

"So what if I am?" Carmen shrugged and admitted to being jealous of the situation. "I’ve seen that professor’s face before. She’s hot and mature. If I were a man, I might have taken her down already."

Veronica was caught off guard. She hadn’t expected Carmen to be so straightforward and even claim that she would take the professor down if her gender were swapped.

"Then are you going to log out to interrupt them?" Veronica asked.

"Nope." To her astonishment, Carmen shook her head and sat down. "I’ve just said if I were a man, but Feng is different. If he really wanted her, then he would have long taken her down. Why would he wait for so long?"

"Then what were you jealous or worried about?"

"Obviously, that former professor!"

Carmen facepalmed and wondered if Veronica’s brain had been fried from the overtime work.

"I trust Feng’s character, but definitely not that professor. Who knows if she might go full seductive mode and throw herself at Feng?"
