Chapter 3733: Seed Transfusion
Chapter 3733: Seed Transfusion
“Hongli, if you refuse to strike now, when will you?” the old man fighting against the Origin Progenitor shouted in the distance.
A soft voice replied, “Old Ancestor, I still hope to compete for a place in the Octagonal Pavilion. I deserve that much.”
“Since you are here, then why are you still arguing? Our Ruler Garden has risked everything. Should we fail, we will die with honor.”
Yue Ya also spoke up. “I swear that, should we prevail, your Ruler Garden will receive my protection. In the future, you will receive a place in the Scion Spire and will surely produce a Lesser Sancte.”
“Little Li, attack!” the old man barked.
Far away, space warped, and someone emerged. They had a slender figure and exquisite features, though her face was slightly blurred, as though in a dream. Her eyes betrayed tremendous sadness and despair that tugged at the hearts of those who saw her.
Her red hair cascaded down to her feet in a stunning manner, yet she was wearing knee-high white boots that were embroidered with snowflakes. It was a startling contrast.
Lu Yin reflexively attacked. There was not so much as a hint of pity. He intended to kill the woman with his first attack.
Her identity did not matter, as they were currently enemies.
Unfortunately, Yue Ya’s manifested thought seized control of Lu Yin yet again, and when he tried to attack again, there were several people blocking his path to the woman; five Ortusers barred his path.
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed. Was any random faction from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse able to produce this many powerhouses? This was a terrifying amount of power.
The red-haired woman looked across the universe at the distant Lu Yin and offered a slight bow. “Forgive me, but Little Li cannot refuse. Should I die during this battle, there will be no regrets. Should you die, I will erect a tombstone for you.”
With that, the five Ortusers all stepped forward, blocking the woman from Lu Yin’s view.
His heart dropped. This was bad. The woman was accepting a spirit seed.
Seed Transfusion was not as simple as improving one’s power with the strength of another. Whatever the cultivation realm of the original cultivator of the spirit seed was when they gave it up would be the strength of the one who accepted it.
Typically, a stronger cultivator would also have richer combat experiences and a deeper understanding of their own cultivation arts and battle techniques. Thus, they would be able to draw out more potential after Seed Transfusion.
However, there was another kind of person who could ignore all of these restrictions.
Supreme prodigies.
The greatest geniuses of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse were those who had been placed in cryostasis in the Scion Spire, and it was clear that Little Li was a genius at that same level. She longed to be accepted into the Scion Spire, revealing her tremendous ambition.
This woman was someone who was qualified to compete to enter the Scion Spire. Even Yue Ya needed to offer promises to get her to take action. This all meant that, as soon as the woman underwent Seed Transfusion, she would erupt with frightening combat power.
Throughout his life, Lu Yin had faced many formidable opponents, though he had also eventually surpassed all of them through either pure combat strength or cultivation level.
If those supreme geniuses who had once competed with him became Dukkhans, they would immediately become even more difficult to deal with than cultivators who had gained such power in the typical fashion.
One such example was Nightking Zhenwu. His ability to transfer damage, as well as his insidious scheming, was unbelievably terrifying.
There was also Silver, who would be able to create another Ossis Ark.
Liu Shaoge’s convoluted plots, Chu Yuan, and Heluo Mavis—each one was incredibly talented. If any one of those individuals suddenly became a Dukkhan and fought against Lu Yin, he would certainly have a difficult time.
Such supreme prodigies were almost impossible to find.
At this moment, he was facing one.
Luo Ning, who had been captured by Lu Yin atop the cliff in the Willbound Spire, was another such genius.
Lu Yin immediately pressed the attack. No matter what, he had to prevent this woman from undergoing Seed Transfusion.
Unfortunately, the combination of Yue Ya’s interference, the three Dukkhans, and the five Ortusers thwarted Lu Yin’s efforts.
Ripples spread out, Lu Yin looked over while feeling his heart skip a beat. This was someone with a similar level of combat strength as the High Seraph. As Lu Yin had suspected, Yue Ya’s hopes were not solely founded on the woman’s own abilities, but also on the spirit seed that she had accepted.
It was a spirit seed from a peak Dukkhan.
What incredible reserves of power. This Ruler Garden was truly impressive.
The young woman’s red hair billowed out as the five Ortusers stepped aside. Her arms spread out, and an uncontrolled aura blasted out, drawing every eye to the young woman.
The Origin Progenitor’s eye twitched. Is this how the Nine Odysseys Megaverse cultivates? This is much too unfair to every other megaverse.
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse farmed the Spirit Nidus, feeding upon an entire megaverse in order to sustain their cultivation system.
It was not merely unfair, but also domineering and cruel.
Still, there was no denying that this method had also given rise to a monstrous civilization. It was wonderful that it was at least still ruled by humans.
A short distance away, the old man excitedly cried out, “At last we can see it! The power of our Ruler Garden’s first ancestor has reappeared! This is a true peak Dukkhan!”
Little Li’s aura swelled even further, reaching a level where even Yue Ya took note of her strength.
Legends claimed that Ruler Garden’s first ancestor had been wildly ambitious, with the goal of becoming a Greater Sancte. While the man had ultimately failed, he had still stunned his entire generation. He was someone from the same generation as Greater Sancte Blood Tower.
Proud and defiant, their ancestor had acknowledged none but Blood Tower, which was why Ruler Garden still only cultivated Blood Tower’s Soul legacy skill.
The old man had long since wondered about his ancestor’s strength, and he was finally seeing it for himself.
Yanbo Hongli was the Yanbo family’s greatest living prodigy, and she was qualified to compete for a place in the Scion Spire. At this moment, she was demonstrating her full brilliance.
The overwhelming aura continued to press down upon everyone, and it came entirely from Yanbo Hongli.
Lu Yin continued to use his star of consciousness to contest Yue Ya’s manifested thought while also enduring the pressure from Yanbo Hongli. It was the same crushing weight that he had once suffered from the High Seraph, and both had belonged to peak Dukkhans.
The High Seraph had not been able to overpower Lu Yin, and neither could Yanbo Hongli.
Even so, Lu Yin doubted that he was capable of fighting Yue Ya while also enduring Yanbo Hongli’s attacks.
When Yanbo Hongli’s eyes moved, an invisible power swept through the universe, and bleeding gashes opened up across Lu Yin’s back.
At that moment, he had no idea how he had been struck.
Lightstream flashed, and time rolled back by a second while also allowing Lu Yin to review the past.
He saw the attack that had struck him. Claws had taken form behind him and cut him.
There had been no trace of anything. It was as though those claw had always been there.
Lu Yin stared intently at Yanbo Hongli.
The woman’s entire bearing had changed drastically. While her eyes remained gentle and apologetic, they now carried a bit of naked bloodlust. “Wildcat’s Aid is my innate gift. Anywhere my eyes look, there exists an external wildcat. It ignores space to be present everywhere.
“Be careful.”
Lu Yin’s expression grew solemn. Constantly present everywhere? No sign that it’s appearing? Wildcat’s Aid?
Yue Ya cackled, “Attack! End this now!”
Yanbo Hongli remained focused on Lu Yin. He suddenly felt a bone-deep chill wash over him like a bucket of ice water. He immediately moved, just as claws tore through the void and swept past his back. Again, they had appeared without even the slightest ripple of power, and they had moved impossibly fast. This attack not only ignored space, but after being empowered by Yanbo Hongli’s new cultivation, it could also move at the speed of time itself.
Suddenly, manifested thought seized control of Lu Yin, and he inwardly swore. Claws suddenly appeared in front of him, and they sliced his chest open, splattering his blood into outer space.
He grabbed at the claws, only for his hand to pass right through them as they vanished.
The claws were not corporeal.
The three Dukkhans behind him attacked as one. The Nine-Rulers: Heaven-Defying Art swept out towards Lu Yin, returning his power back to him.
Again, Lu Yin tried to reverse time with Lightstream, only to be frozen by the manifested thought. Lightstream vanished.
Lu Yin staggered backwards. He was genuinely wounded, and his blood dripped down onto the tops of his feet.
“This is the end!” Yue Ya eagerly yelled. Capturing Lu Yin would give Yue Ya the supreme power of a Greater Sancte. Even if he did not enter the Immortal realm, so what? Who would be able to stop him? No one.
Lu Yin’s face fell, and spirals of karma coiled about his fingers as he swept a hand in Yue Ya’s direction.
The being of manifested thought dodged. Yue Ya had no desire to be struck by karma again. The last time it happened, for some unfathomable reason, Lu Yin had started to mirror Yue Ya’s own expression, which had made him feel as though all of his secrets had been laid bare. Yue Ya would not allow karma to touch him again under any circumstances.
However, Lu Yin’s target had never been Yue Ya, but rather Yanbo Hongli.
Yanbo Hongli could sense the approaching spiral of karma, but she did not dodge. She allowed the karma to pass through her without any resistance, confident that the invisible power could not threaten her.
She attacked again, and claws appeared beneath Lu Yin, slashing up at him.
However, this time, he avoided the attack.
Yanbo Hongli attacked once more.
Yue Ya froze Lu Yin with manifested thought, but even though Lu Yin’s mind briefly stalled, his body still moved to easily dodge the claws.
Yanbo Hongli was incredulous. How? She could clearly see that this man was not dodging when her claws manifested, but rather before they even appeared. Was he capable of seeing the future?
Yue Ya looked over at Yanbo Hongli. “This man has comprehended karma! Do not let his power touch you.”
Startled, Yanbo Hongli cried out, “The power of karma?”
The old man fighting against the Origin Progenitor and everyone else was similarly shocked. Karma was a supreme power. How could this man wield it?
Yue Ya continued, “Now, do you understand how invaluable he is? How can I possibly fail to become a Greater Sancte after capturing him?”
“Little Li, help Lord Yue Ya finish this quickly,” the old man shouted.
Yanbo Hongli looked at Lu Yin with open pity. The power of karma... Such talent should have granted him a brilliant future. In the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, he would have surely been able to enter the Scion Spire, and he might have even been accepted as Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s disciple. How pitiful.
The claws slashed out again, but Lu Yin continued to evade them. He used the karma that had penetrated Yanbo Hongli to predict the future.
Yanbo Hongli served as the cause, while her attacks were the effect.
So long as there was cause and effect, karma could be exploited.
The woman had failed to dodge Lu Yin’s attack, despite the ease with which she could have done so.
Yue Ya silently cursed. If only he had warned Yanbo Hongli sooner. While she was extraordinarily talented and was more than capable of helping him, she only had a small bit of combat experience, and for that reason, she had allowed the power of karma to touch her. It was infuriating.
A supreme prodigy possessed supreme talent, but that did not necessarily convert to skill on the battlefield.
From behind Lu Yin, Heaven’s Blade slashed at Yanbo Hongli.
An Ortuser stepped in front of the woman, and the Nine-Rulers: Heaven-Defying Art tried to block the sword of consciousness. The attack passed right through the man, who died as his blood sprayed across the stars.
While the man’s death failed to completely block Heaven’s Blade, the attack had already run into a target and no longer posed a threat to Yanbo Hongli.
Sacrificing an Ortuser just to block a single attack of Heaven’s Blade. How extravagant.
Seeing Lu Yin’s Heaven’s Blade rattled Yanbo Hongli. The peak-Dukkhan spirit seed that she accepted had also given her the confidence to ignore this young man’s attacks, and yet he had already used karma and a sword of consciousness, while also rendering her Wildcat’s Aid useless. She had no choice but to personally enter the fight.
She moved past the surviving Ortusers and continued moving forward one step at a time. Each step she took caused her aura to transform and rise. She was using the Nine Heavens Transformation. As she released her Nine Heavens, a ruler spun in front of her body, signifying the Nine-Rulers: Heaven-Defying Art.
Lu Yin frowned. The pressure that he was facing was mounting higher and higher. While Yanbo Hongli lacked combat experience, she still presented a greater threat than the other three Dukkhans. After all, Yanbo Hongli had become a peak Dukkhan, and she was incomparable to an average Dukkhan.
The closer the woman approached, the more frequently that Lu Yin was forced to dodge her Wildcat’s Aid with the help of karma. Each time he was frozen by the manifested thought, he questioned how many more times he could successfully evade these attacks. Even one failure would result in a grievous wound.
