Chapter 3734: The Doctrine Of Rectitude

Chapter 3734: The Doctrine Of Rectitude

Bang!

Another deafening impact echoed.

Lu Yin managed to drive Yanbo Hongli back with a palm strike, though he had reduced the attack’s power to prevent her from using his own attack against him.

The mark on her ruler only moved slightly.

Yanbo Hongli raised a hand, and a tower-shaped sword flashed into existence before slicing at Lu Yin.

This was the power of Blood Tower.

Lu Yin was no stranger to this technique, as it was the first technique from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse that he had ever encountered.

In the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, the divine techniques practiced by the Greater Sancti were called Soul legacy skills.

The tower-shaped sword flew out with the power of Nine-Rulers: Heaven-Defying Art towards Lu Yin. He caught the blade with his bare hand, but as he did so, the other three Dukkhans who were behind him also attacked with a tower-shaped sword.

Four swords attacked from four directions as four Dukkhans cooperated while Yue Ya froze Lu Yin with his manifested thought. In an instant, Lu Yin’s situation had become quite desperate.

He released his inner universe, and his Karmic Dao coiled about him. Yanbo Hongli and the other Dukkhans grew pale and hastily retreated.

They felt pure dread when they sensed the invisible power of karma.

Lu Yin seized the opportunity and tried to open up a bit of distance between himself and Yue Ya. Lu Yin’s mind had been under pressure for too long, and the manifested thought was eroding his will to fight.

However, at some point in time, a Blood Tower had appeared above his head.

Behind Yanbo Hongli and the other three Dukkhans, illusory images of the Nine Odysseys’ Greater Sancti took form.

The Blood Tower fell, and when Lu Yin tried to dodge it, his mind was briefly frozen. By the time he regained awareness, he was already imprisoned by a Blood Tower. More fell upon him after that, as they were actually able to stack upon each other.

The outermost layer was the tower that Yanbo Hongli had used.

All four of the Dukkhans spewed blood in unison, dying the Blood Tower crimson. Lu Yin was instantly reminded of Feng Bo’s final, desperate attempt to survive; that man had also painted the Blood Tower red with his blood.

The Blood Tower was capable of serving as both a shield and a prison.

It also possessed another unfathomable power: time. As Lu Yin peered out from the Blood Tower, even the universe looked different, as it had taken on a blood-red color.

Time itself was changing within the tower.

Seeing that Lu Yin had been trapped within the tower, the old man fighting against the Origin Progenitor finally allowed himself to breathe. “It’s finally over. After being trapped by four stacks of the Blood Tower, time within can be stretched without end or compressed to nothing at all. When he leaves, he will be completely drained of all power and clueless as to how much time has gone by.”

The Origin Progenitor instantly attacked, and a sword emerged from his Verdant Arsenal to attack the Blood Tower.

Sequence particles exploded from the old man, and he used the Nine-Chi: Heaven-Defying to directly confront the Origin Progenitor. The old man was nearly a peak Dukkhan, and he could almost match the High Seraph’s strength, which enabled him to fully compare to the Origin Progenitor.

The Origin Progenitor glanced at Lu Yin. He refused to believe that Lu Yin would fall so easily. After all, Lu Yin also wielded the power of time.

Inside the Blood Tower, Lu Yin had never imagined that he would be tortured by time itself.

Time was being drawn out and extended. So this is Greater Sancte Blood Tower’s mastery of time. Truly impressive.

The River of Aeons was completely absent, and yet the power of time had been mastered to such a terrifying level. Immortals truly were amazing.

Lu Yin needed to continue releasing his power in order to break free from the Blood Tower. He knew that time was stretching out for him, and if he failed to escape, his power would be completely drained. Should he do nothing, Yanbo Hongli and the others would still be able to attack him through the tower. Regardless, it appeared that his power was doomed to run out.

However, why did he need to rely on only his own power?

Outside the tower, Yue Ya continued to stare at Lu Yin. Within, it would feel as though ages passed, while only seconds went by outside. Given the level of cultivation of the four who had trapped Lu Yin, it should only take a few breaths of time for Lu Yin’s power to be spent. Then, Yue Ya could deal with his captive freely.

There was still pity in Yanbo Hongli’s eyes. Had her opponent been born in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, there was no doubt that he would have risen to the peak of the megaverse and been revered by countless, awaiting the day he became a Lesser, or even Greater, Sancte. He really could only be pitied.

He was trapped within four layers of Blood Towers. There was no way for him to escape.

The only possibility was if the man’s cultivation surpassed his captors.

It was only at this moment that Yanbo Hongli noticed that Lu Yin appeared to only be a peak powerhouse. Really? How absurd. That’s impossible. He has to be a Dukkhan who’s simply too good at concealing his cultivation.

Not even a Dukkhan could surpass Yanbo Hongli and the three cooperating with her.

Hm? How did another person suddenly appear?

Within the Blood Tower, Lu Yin had released the Worryless Elder.

The Worryless Elder was an Ortuser powerful enough to have competed for the position of Seraph in the Spirit Nidus. Lu Yin had expended quite a bit of effort to defeat the man, who had since been imprisoned in the Champions’ Stage Purgatory, being tortured. When he was finally released after such a long time of torment, the Worryless Elder was absolutely terrified of Lu Yin.

The Ortuser’s forte was his comprehension technique, Free of Care, Sorrowless, which caused people to forget everything. While putting on a show of guiding others toward being good, the Worryless Elder had actually erased people’s pasts and taken control of their emotions, subverting their nature. Even if a person was forced to kill their own family, they would watch and smile. Those smiles had been the saddest thing in existence, as the people’s true selves had been stripped away from them.

Lu Yin had wanted to simply kill the Worryless Elder, but death was too light a punishment. It was best to confine the man within his Champions’ Stage Purgatory.

The Worryless Elder had been imprisoned longer than almost anyone else, and he had almost gone insane. Finally, he had used his Free of Care, Sorrowless on himself, manipulating his own emotions and memories to escape the torment.

After the Worryless Elder had destroyed his own personality, Lu Yin had simply left the man on a Zenith Mountain instead of killing him. It was a surprise that the man finally could be put to use.

The Worryless Elder was incapable of participating in such a battle. After all, he could not defeat even a single Dukkhan. What Lu Yin wanted was the man’s comprehension technique.

With full mastery of Free of Care, Sorrowless, the Worryless Elder was able to cause even Yanbo Hongli’s mind to briefly become blank, along with the other three Dukkhans. Lu Yin used that opportunity to instantly shatter the Blood Tower and escape. Yue Ya’s manifested thought slammed into Lu Yin, but he had prepared himself. Then, just as Lu Yin was prepared to take action, chains fell from the starry sky, sealing everything in existence, as well as all of Lu Yin’s senses. It was the Heaven and Earth Lock.

Old Chief had attacked, ambushing Lu Yin.

Clenching his teeth, Lu Yin used Lightstream to reverse time by one second and escape from the Heaven and Earth Lock, but that prevented him from avoiding Yue Ya’s manifested thought. Old Chief’s interference had ruined Lu Yin’s preparations.

Manifested thought slammed into Lu Yin, leaving his mind empty for a moment. In that instant, the Worryless Elder beside him was torn apart.

Yanbo Hongli and the other three Dukkhans attacked as one, and their tower-shaped swords stabbed into Lu Yin, splattering blood into outer space.

Yue Ya was ecstatic. Dark-gold clouds of manifested thought surged into Lu Yin’s body. Yue Ya was going to seize control.

He had never expected Old Chief to also strike from the shadows.

No one had predicted the conscient’s interference.

Old Chief had already guessed that Lu Yin was capable of devouring conscients’ consciousnesses. This alone made Lu Yin the greatest threat to the Consciousness Megaverse.

Seeing the manifested thought flood Lu Yin’s body, the Origin Progenitor grew anxious. He used his Verdant Arsenal to attack the old man in front of him. The line on the old man’s ruler shot to the top as he snarled, “You wish to court death?”

The Origin Progenitor watched as the old man’s hand fell. This attack was strengthened by the Origin Progenitor’s own Verdant Arsenal, and it surpassed all the previous attacks.

Yet the Origin Progenitor ignored the attack and instead released his sequence particles for the very first time.

The universe quaked as an indescribable sensation swept over the old man and continued to spread across the universe. It was like a gentle breeze blowing across the face: soft and ever so pleasant.

Despite clearly being sequence particles, no one had ever felt such a comforting law of the universe before.

This was the first time that the Origin Progenitor had used his sequence particles. He had never released them, not even in the Tianyuan Megaverse.

His sequence particles spread further out and poured into Lu Yin’s body together with the dark-gold manifested thought.

It was at that moment that the old man’s hand struck. A torrent of razor-sharp power tore into the Origin Progenitor’s body, sending him staggering and coughing blood.

Lu Yin’s eyes snapped open. The wounds that he had suffered from Wildcat’s Aid and the tower-shaped swords could be seen visibly healing. He let out a deep roar and released his inner universe. The power of karma sliced through his body. “Get out of me!”

The dark-gold manifested thought reversed direction and surged out of Lu Yin. Again in the form of a cloud, Yue Ya was blasted away.

He was badly startled. “How is this possible?”

His attention instantly turned to the Origin Progenitor.

Yue Ya was not alone, as everyone present, including Old Chief, who had attacked Lu Yin from the shadows, was staring at the Origin Progenitor.

The man’s sequence particles were anything but ordinary; they were exceptional.

Lu Yin panted as he caught his breath and glanced over. He saw how badly the Origin Progenitor was wounded.

Blood stained the old man’s lips, and yet he smiled. “Good. I made it in time.”

The Origin Progenitor’s sequence particles were the Law of the Weight of Life.

In the Tianyuan Megaverse, the Origin Progenitor had been regarded as humanity’s undisputed leader. No matter what had happened to the ancient Heavens Sect or how Lu Yin had led humanity to rise back to the peak, the Origin Progenitor’s position could never be shaken.

The Origin Progenitor had once mentioned that Lu Yin was the pillar of their megaverse, holding it up. However, that pillar’s foundation was the Origin Progenitor.

The man had developed humanity’s cultivation system, and he had led his species to rise to the top to rule the megaverse, spreading across countless parallel universes and sweeping all threats aside. The sequence particles that he had cultivated were in line with the man’s goals: to one day help humanity cast off the restraints of life and gain new life. It was a law of infinite compassion.

This law did not suit combat or slaughter, as it focused on healing.

No matter how grave Lu Yin’s wounds might be, the Origin Progenitor could heal them all.

Yet his law of the universe could not be casually revealed, as it could be transformed into something terrifying by those with dark intentions, which was precisely what was happening at the moment.

Despite still being in the form of a cloud, Yue Ya was focused solely on the Origin Progenitor. “The Doctrine of Rectitude... your heart is far too pure. Tell me, what is your obsession?”

The eyes of the old man who had been fighting against the Origin Progenitor flickered. “He cannot be allowed to continue cultivating these sequence particles, or else a terrible calamity will appear.”

Yanbo Hongli did not understand. Was this somehow more than a mere sequence technique?

Lu Yin’s heart kept dropping. Previously, he alone had been targeted, but at this moment, the Origin Progenitor had also become a target.

The old man was correct. Weight of Life was an extraordinary sequence technique. When cultivated to the pinnacle, it would transform into a Transcended Sequence. While the term was unknown to the Tianyuan Megaverse, the effect remained the same. For example, Yong Heng had cultivated his Dao Convergence to that level.

Once the Origin Progenitor cultivated his sequence particles to the point where they became a Transcended Sequence, true creation would appear.

Creation. It was a difficult word to define and an even more elusive law to comprehend. No one could predict what sort of power the Origin Progenitor would wield when he reached that level, but sequence particles that were cultivated to the limit could create miracles.

The higher one’s cultivation, the more clearly this concept was understood, and all the ancient powerhouses could sense the threat.

Just as Yue Ya said, this was the Doctrine of Rectitude.

What was the Doctrine of Rectitude?

Aboveboard and righteousness. The Origin Progenitor’s sequence particles allowed people to feel that he walked such a path of rectitude.

The Origin Progenitor trod a difficult path. He did not do so for himself, but rather to save all of humanity. At the end of his path, others could feel Immortality.

The Origin Progenitor had once told Lu Yin he could have overcome his Dukkha and stepped into the Immortal realm, but he had been schemed against and stopped in his tracks.

At that time, Lu Yin had not understood how one could overcome Dukkha.

The Spirit Nidus had a number of Dukkhans and a long, powerful history. Even so, there was no record of any method to overcome Dukkha. Despite that, the path still seemed to exist.

It was at this moment that Lu Yin understood: perhaps the Origin Progenitor truly could overcome Dukkha.
